The Depression

Be Mine

(Draco's POV)

Draco could feel it all. The pounding in his head, the stabbing pain in his wrists, the I.V needle in his arm, and the feeling of someone holding his hand. He forced himself to open his eyes and he looked to his right. When he looked, he saw Harry.

Harry’s face was streaked with tears. He was afraid to let go of Draco’s hand. Scared that if he let go, Draco would leave him.

“Draco?” Harry asked softly.

“I-I’m sorry,” Draco whispered in a broken voice as a tear rolled down his cheek.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Harry, you might be my friend, but I don’t think there’s anything you could have done to help me,” Draco said. He said the word ‘friend’ as if he were disappointed.

“You should’ve at least talked to me.”

“I know, I’m sorry.” Draco looked away from Harry, unafraid to meet his eyes.

Harry gently turned Draco’s face back towards him.

“I’m just glad that you’re okay.” Harry stared into those beautiful storm-grey eyes, the ones he had secretly been in love with since their 5th year at Hogwarts.

“Draco, I want to do this now,” Harry ran his tongue over his lips. “Just so I know you’ll remember it.” He leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on Draco’s lips. He sat back in the chair and saw Draco smiling at him.

“Maybe we can be more than friends?” Draco winced as he pushed himself into a sitting position.

“I would like that. But, under one condition.” Harry tightened his grip on Draco’s hand slightly. “Promise me that you will never try to take your own life again.”

Draco looked down at his bandaged wrists and he once again looked away from Harry. Harry reached over and lifted Draco’s head to have him look him in the eyes.

“Promise me Draco. Please promise me.”

“I promise.”

Harry stifled a sob and let go of Draco’s hand. He pulled his knees to his chest and began to cry. Not just a few tears but sobs. Sobs that shook his entire body.

“Harry, please...please don’t cry.”

“I almost lost you. Twice. Do you know,” Harry choked on a sob. “What it would be like if I actually lost you? Nothing would be the same! I wouldn’t be the same!”

“Come here.” Draco opened his arms for Harry. Harry got up and let Draco embrace him tightly. “I made a mistake but I never meant to hurt you. I just didn’t think. I’ll make it up to you. I-I love you, Harry.”

Harry gasped. Draco loved him? Sure, they had gone out for lunch a few times since Draco moved into the Muggle world and Harry had stayed at Draco’s house every once in a while when he was helping Draco move in. He never in all that time thought that Draco loved him. Did he love Draco back?

“You really love me?”

“I do.” Draco smiled and pushed a strand of hair out of Harry’s eyes. God those eyes, Draco felt a tingling sensation every time Harry looked at him with those eyes. Those green eyes could pierce right through your soul.

“I love you too, Draco.” Harry’s voice broke as he melted into Draco’s warm touch.

“Are you crying?” Draco wiped away the tear on Harry’s cheek and kissed the top of his head.

“I’ll be okay. I’m just really happy that you’re okay.”

“Me too, Harry...me too.” Draco smiled softly then connected his lips with Harry’s.

At that moment, Crockett stopped outside Draco’s room to check on him but decided to come back later when he saw Draco and Harry ‘having a tender moment’’.

Draco and Harry separated and Harry lay his head against Draco’s chest.

“You promise you won’t leave me. Not now. Not ever?” Harry whispered.

“I promise,” Draco whispered back.
