The Letter

Crystal woke up suddenly. Her mother was calling from outside her door.

“Wake up, honey! There's a letter for you!.” she said. Yawning, Crystal climbed out of bed. She grabbed a brush and started to brush her hair. Crystal had black hair with two blonde streaks, one going down the left side of her hair and the second one going down her bangs. She had beautiful green eyes. She got dressed quickly and went downstairs.

“Hello,Crystal.” Crystal's father said.

“Hello, dad. Er, Mum, where's my letter?” Crystal asked.

“Here it is dear.” her mother replied.

“ Thanks.” Crystal sat down at the table to open the letter. She looked at the front of it then the back. Crystal stared at the seal. It had a lion, a snake, a badger and an eagle surrounding the letter “H”.

“Oh look Peter! It has the Hogwarts crest! That's why it was delivered by owl.” Crystal's mother called to her husband.

“Your right, Susan. Crystal you've been accepted into the school!” her father exclaimed. Excitedly, Crystal opened the envelope. There was a piece of parchment that read:

“Hey,mum, doesn't the deputy headmaster or headmistress write the letters?” Crystal asked her mother.

“Maybe Professor McGonagall wrote it because you are Godric Gryffindor's descendant.” Crystal's mother answered.

“Alright.” Crystal replied. Crystal looked in the envelope. Inside she found another piece of parchment. It read:

“So when do we go to Diagon Alley?” Crystal asked her parents.

“How about tomorrow, Alright?” her father said. Then Crystal thought for a moment.

“Wait. If term begins on Sept.1, then that means my birthday will happen during the school year! I'm gonna turn twelve! Yes!” Crystal exclaimed.

“Hey Susan, how about we send Winter with a letter tonight. He'll still be sleeping.” her father said. Winter was a handsome male snowy owl with bright amber eyes.

“But, Peter. You know how much he loves to deliver mail. You should do it now.” her mother replied.

“If you say so.” Crystal's father went upstairs to her parent's room, then came back down with a roll of parchment, an ink bottle,a quill and Winter perch on his shoulder. As soon as Winter saw Crystal, he swooped towards her and landed on her shoulder.

“'Lo, Winter.” Crystal said as she stroked him. He hooted a greeting back. Her father had started to write. After a few minutes he had finished.

“Come here Winter.” her father called. Winter hooted in reply and fluttered over to him. Winter held out his leg and Crystal's father tied the letter to his leg.

“Can I send him away?” asked Crystal.

“Of course.” her father said. Winter hooted excitedly and perched on Crystal's arm. She walked over to the window, opened it and Winter took off as Crystal watched him disappear into the sky.
