Everyone was whispering excitedly. They were outside two massive doors. The doors opened to reveal a man in his late forty's. He had auburn and silver hair with bright blue eyes.
“Welcome! You shall be sorted into your Houses momentarily. I will come back to escort you into the Great Hall.” said the man. Then he turned around and entered the Great Hall. Murmuring broke out at once. The man came back shortly.
“Follow me.” the man said.
Inside the Great Hall there were four long tables, each representing a House. Crystal looked up. There were floating candles everywhere. She also saw that the ceiling had been bewitched to look like the night sky. As the first-years passed the Gryffindor and Slytherin tables (you could tell what House they were from the crests on their robes; Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw were on the outskirts), Crystal also noticed a stool with an old looking hat sitting on it and behind it the staff table.
“Line up right here, first years.” the man said as he held up a roll of parchment. “When I call your name, come sit on the stool and put on the Sorting Hat.” He began to read.
“Potter, Albus.” The boy who had called to Hagrid had dark, untidy black hair with green eyes. He set the Sorting Hat on his head and the Hat jumped to life.
“Ah, a Potter. Let's see. Where to put you? Hmmm...Slytherin!” The Slytherin table erupted with applause and cheers.
“LeStrange, Owl.” Owl was also put in Slytherin.
“Leopard, Teal.” Teal was put in Ravenclaw.
“Eridu, Kirito.” Kirito was put in Gryffindor.
“Orangestar, Twilight.” Twilight was put in Hufflepuff. Finally, only four students remained: Crystal, Wolf, Raven, and Jack.
“Riddle,Jack.” Murmurs rippled through every table, mostly in Slytherin.
“You are a descendant of Slytherin,eh? Hmmm...you'll do well in Hufflepuff though. More in Slytherin. More in Slytherin...Yes! Slytherin!” The Slytherins cheered loudly. Jack seemed happy with himself, very, very happy...
“Star, Raven.” Raven placed the hat on her head.
“You...you are Hufflepuff's descendant. As you have qualities of no other house, you are a Hufflepuff!” The Hufflepuffs seemed really really happy also; they looked as happy as Jack.
“Tawnyfeather, Wolf.” The Hat did not speak.
“Hmmm...Ah, Ravenclaw's descendant. You can also be a Gryffindor.” To Crystal's surprise, Wolf pleaded,
“Please can I be in Ravenclaw?” The Hat also seemed surprised.
“You want to be in Ravenclaw? Very well. Ravenclaw!”The Ravenclaws also seemed happy to get their rightful descendant.
“Gryffindor, Crystal.” My turn. Crystal sat on the stool and the Hat said,
“Oh, I like you four. Descendants of Hogwarts founders. At last Gryffindor's. You know, I used to be his. Now let's see... Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. Hmm...Ravenclaw!”
