Silence becomes a blessing when all that you are surrounded by is sheer noise. The sound of music and heavy taps on the floor almost causing an earthquake, makes it hard on someone’s eardrum to accommodate with it, and that’s when silence becomes a blessing; especially for Min Yoongi.
After the chaotic performance they did, he went to his personal space in the huge tent and stood at a fair distance from the dartboard, yet it was not made for those quacky, weak darts, but it was there for Yoongi’s sharp-edged knives.
He exhaled and aimed to hit the bullseye then released the knife with high force. He sighed when he heard his knife get in contact with the wooden board and furiously threw another two knives, hitting the same spot.
“Shouldn’t you be celebrating with your sisi instead of boring holes in the poor board?” Namjoon swiftly said while cooly walking towards Yoongi, who looked unfazed.
“It’s boring,” answered Yoongi as he removed the three knives from the bullseye and intensely looked at them, but he sighed and tossed them along with his other knives.
“What’s bothering you, Yoongi? You’ve been sighing a lot today.”
“Nothing. I would appreciate it if I stayed alone for now,” Yoongi said those words and waved at Namjoon, leaving the tent.
He walked through the green landscape as he tried to mute his mind and ears, but his brain didn’t allow him the luxury of silence.
“Brother, why do you think he wants us?”
“I don’t know.”
Yoongi halted and clenched his hands into fists while squeezing his eyes shut then cursed at the sounds playing in his head. Even after seven years from escaping that hellish place, his memories felt fresh.
“We are okay now,” he muttered those words to himself, trying to prevent a volcano of emotions from erupting.
A moment later, he loosened his fist and exhaled the stiffens overtaking his shoulders. A small smile played on his lips as he remembered old memories when he was turning seven years old. The feeling of his sister’s body jumping on his tiny back, made him lose balance, but his mother was quick to support both of their weight.
“Be careful Yoonji, I know it’s your birthday but try not to get hurt before going to the park.”
Their mother’s voice made Yoongi’s heart bounce in pain. He quickly shook his head and turned around to face the tent which looked like a tasty cupcake from how far he was standing.
“I think it’s time to get back,” he said to himself and drowsily walked towards the tent. The moment his eardrums made contact with the loud sounds coming from his friends, he flinched and tsked while placing his palms on his ears in irritation.
“Yoongi, Yoongi. Look what little Jimin gave me,” Yoonji ran to Yoongi excitement overtaking her every step. She raised her occupied hand for Yoongi to see the cake she was holding for dear life.
Yoongi frowned at her words and didn’t care to look at the cake as he said in disapointement, “Stop calling him little. You both aren’t children anymore, Yoonji.”
Yoonji’s happy smile slowly fell down and her excited shoulders whithered, bringing the cake down from Yoongi’s eyes.
He sighed and placed his hands on her shoulders, asking “Did you take the injection?”
She nodded in response while saying in a distressed voice, “It’s your turn.”
He hummed and walked past her, but before leaving the scene, he halted and turned to look at his sister’s sad figure due to his harsh words. A soft smile suddenly got drawn on his face as he marched back to his sister, back hugging her.
“Happy birthday to my lovely sister.”
Yoonji brightly smiled at the soft words she received from her brother and said in return, “you too, happy birthday to the only person I truly cherish.”
A sudden hand-clapping made Yoongi let go of Yoonji and for both of them to look at the source who was walking towards them with envy in his eyes.
“You two are unmatched. Yoonji honey, I made you a whole cake and now Yoongi is the only one you cherish. I feel attacked,” Jimin playfully placed his hand on his heart while rubbing it in fake pain.
“But I already told you thank you for it,” said Yoonji while pouting.
Jimin walked past Yoongi and stood in front of Yoonji while plastering a wide smile on his face and said, “Happy 22nd birthday.”
He leaned a little to reach her height level and gently flicked her forehead, making her wince and rub it.
“Why did you do that for?” She cutely whined.
“Because-”
A sudden smack made its way onto Jimin’s head, cutting him off, which came from Yoongi’s hand.
“Ah-” Jimin’s body jerked as he released a loud pained voice then immediatly turned to look at Yoongi while fisting his palms, ready for a fight. “What the hell? Why did you do that?”
Yoongi lazily shrugged his shoulders and replied, “Was just making sure you are the real Jimin. That’s all.”
“What made you think I’ll ever allow my clone to speak with Yoonji?”
“Because I didn’t want you to fool her like how you did with me.”
“Don’t push your luck. I use my clone on none important people,” Jimin paused for a moment and smirked proceeding, “like you.”
Yoonji giggled at Jimin’s playfulness, but Yoongi sighed and decided to end this stupid chitchat by asking, “Where is Namjoon?”
“Playing with his cats.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes, muttering “Don’t call Tigers by Cats.”
“When your sisi stops calling me little, I will stop calling them cats,” Jimin spoke and stuck out his tongue at Yoongi.
Yoongi brushed him off and went to Namjoon. Just like how Yoongi has his own place, each one of them does. Namjoon has a whole tent of his own which was placed at the back of the main tent.
Multiple empty cages came in view to Yoongi which indicated danger to any normal person but not to those living in the circus.
He walked through the opened entrance and scrunched his nose in disgust when he smelt the horrendous odour coming from the wild animals moving in circles around Namjoon.
Yoongi didn’t notice the presence of another person sitting beside the standing Namjoon, but only noticed when that person stood up, saying, “He is tired, he needs rest.”
“But we have a performance tomorrow. Tell him to stop acting like a dick,” Namjoon said with his eyes hooked on the whining tiger in front of him.
“Nope, not gonna tell him that. Plus he needs rest. His paw is hurt.”
Namjoon roared and said, “Fine, fine. Take all the damn rest you want.” He defeatedly walked away from the tigers and walked over to Yoongi.
“What brings you here?” Namjoon asked Yoongi while Yoongi raised his hand to wave at the person still stuck in the middle of the tigers.
“I don’t see Sabre, where is he?” said Yoongi.
“Huh!” Namjoon looked around for a moment but continued, “I let him out a minute ago. You might find him at the main tent since I warned him not to go far.”
“Oh okay.” Yoongi waved at Namjoon and headed to the main tent.
He walked inside and saw a big ball of fur sitting in the middle of the spotlight which didn’t get switched off, or was actually turned on for the lone tiger staying there.
“What are you doing here, Sabre?” Yoongi started.
Sabre stayed in his position. He didn’t move but kept gazing at the stars through the small space the tent was providing him from the ceiling.
“I’m getting old Yoongi. You need to stop visiting me on your birthdays,” Sabre spoke. His voice 10 times deeper than the deepest human voice.
Yoongi gently ran his hand on Sabre’s soft fur and closed his eyes saying, “You are healthy. So there is no reason for me to stop.”
Sabre moved under Yoongi’s hand, making Yoongi open his eyes and seeing Sabre looking at him directly. The black and white uncommonly tiger was now gazing into Yoongi soul, showing his concerns and reading Yoongi’s concerns as well.
[Blue eyes]
“Happy birthday, Yoongi,” Sabre suddenly uttered, gaining a soft gummy smile from Yoongi.
“You still aren’t gonna tell me when your birthday is?” Yoongi asked.
Sabre shook his head and got up then gave a deep growl when he saw Jimin getting inside the tent.
“Yoongi- Oh! Hello Sabre,” Jimin waved at Sabre with a wide smile, but Sabre just ignored him.
“Yoongiii. Sabre is always mean to me,” Jimin fake whined as he threw his body on the floor dramatically.
Yoongi rolled his eyes, replying “Yes because you are annoying. A tiger can understand that much. Anyway, what do you want?”
Jimin sighed and got up deciding to end his act quickly as he answered, “You’ve been summoned. It’s time for your injection.”
