It was a bright and sunny school day, a high school student, at Daikou Private Academy. The classroom was silent, just the sound of typing and clicking of computers as all the students were taking an exam. A girl with short red hair was staring out the window next to her, her blue eyes gazed across the beautiful landscape of Cherry Blossom‘s outside, out on the schools property. I wonder what it would be like if they were red... She thought as she rested her chin on the palm of her hand.
“Khloya! Stop daydreaming and do the test!” The male teacher yelled at the girl with the red hair and she looked back at him glaring, sighed then went back to the exam.
It was soon after school ended when Khloya took off her school shoes and slipped on the other pair in her locker to go home. As she was walking out the door she saw her best friend. She ran to him and right as the black-haired boy noticed her, it was too late and she had pounced.
“Ahhh!! Khloya! What the h*ll?!” The boy yelled at her, she was laying on the ground with her on top of him.
“How was class?” Khloya ignored his question and got up, holding a hand out to him.
He said, “It was okay, just like every other day, the teacher not doing anything for the kids to act up...”He responded as he grabs Khloya’s hand.
“I know Hayato, he’s the worst.” Khloya rolled her eyes and tried doing an impression of her black haired friend.
“Exactly!” Hayato smiled at Khloya.
“Well, anyways I guess we’ll meet at the place tonight?” Khloya smiled and tilted her head.
“Yes, same as always.” Hayato smiled, his hands in his pockets, the wind blowing his shiny hair through the wind of the beautiful cherry blossoms.
Later when Khloya was walking home as she was, of course, daydreaming again. She had a little sway in her walk, admiring all the things of the world, she loved the landscapes but there was always something she hated... It was people.
They’re rotten, mean, and she despises them greatly. She never lost anyone to murder, but she hears stories from others about how awful people can be...
She then saw one of the cherry blossoms that she seemed to be drawn to, it was... A red color... Her eyes followed it and when it got further away she began to follow it. Finally, her blue eyes watched it land on something that looks to be a black book. She picked the book up and as she did, the red blossom petal slowly fell to the ground. She flipped the book over and she read Death Note.
She gave a gasp and her eyes widened. What is this? Is this really a Death Note?! There’s no way! This- must be some kids playing with me, right?! She thought as she looked around wanting to see if anyone was watching. She didn’t seem to see anyone, but she was still cautious.
She put the book in her bag and walked home slowly. She was quiet. Millions of thoughts are running through her head, some good, some bad...
When she finally got home she waved at her parents and her little sister as she walked to her room. She open the door and locked it as she close the door. She took out the book and sat her bag down next to the desk, where she sat.
She turn the TV on and open the book, got a pen out, and stared at the book. Khloya knew exactly what this is, it was a book of death, from her idols Light Yagami in Mesa Amane.
She open the book and began to read the rules...
1. The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
2. This note will not take affect unless the writer has a persons face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
3. If the cause of death is written within the next 40 seconds of writing the persons name, it will happen.
4. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack.
5. After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next six minutes and 40 seconds.
There were five rules written down in the book. Khloya flipped to the back and saw two more.
6. If the person using this note fails to consecutively write names of people to be killed within 13 days of each other, then the user will die.
7. If you make this Note unusable by tearing it up or burning it, all the humans that have touched the Note till then will die.
Khloya hummed, she stared at the two last rules thinking. I don’t understand, she thought. Why are there two rules in the back and not in the front like all the others?
She began to flip back and forth through the pages, looking at the rules one by one. She then smiled and started laughing.
“Now what the h*ll is going on here? The back two rules are fake rules... Probably to scare the owner in some way. The writing of the I’s are different from the other words on the first five rules, so obviously someone else wrote it...” she mumbled and began to continue. “I don’t think anyone else would have noticed other than me, the dot on the I is the only thing different. They do know what they are doing though, to be able to copy the handwriting perfectly is amazing... I wonder if it was Light...”
Khloya sat back in her chair and sighed looking back at her book. The lights were dim and mood of the room was cold...
At the corner of Khloya’s eye, she caught a movement of a shadow, she quickly turned around and took the knife that was strapped to her desk and held it up towards the direction of where the shadow was at. Khloya, who was on guard, stood there quietly as she watched the darkness from her closet.
She then saw movement of a tall black figure, it looked to be about 8 feet tall, and skinny. She squinted trying to see better in the darkness of the scary closet. She breathed deeply and cleared her throat before speaking.
“I know you’re there. What do you want? Who are you?” Khloya spoke to the dark figure in the room. She then heard a dark chuckle from the other ‘person’.
“It’s very nice to meet the new owner of the Death Note, ever since Light died I always wondered who may have his note next~”
“So it’s true... that this was Light Yagami’s Death Note?” Khloya asked another question.
“Yes, and you also have the same Shinigami~” the black figure said in a low but teasing-ish tone as he walked into the light of the room.
Khloya jumped back, she was shocked as to what the Shinigami had looked like... It had black spiky hair with his wide yellow and red eyes the size of a baseball, he had pail blue skin and spikes on his shoulders just like its hair. It seems you have a belt with another death note hanging on it with chains. Is this really a Shinigami? Khloya thought.
“No reason to be scared, I am the Shinigami Ryuk. And I can tell you’ve taken an interest to the book~” Ryuk spoke again to Khloya.
“So... am I the chosen one or something?” Khloya peered at the dark creature before her.
“Maybe... Light just told me before he died to find someone trustworthy of the death note. You idolize Kira, he also wanted someone who doesn’t seem like they’d do it, and someone smart.” Ryuk continued. “But I’m telling you now, I’m not on either side of the story, I’m not your pet or your friend. But you can ask as many questions as you want, I’ll answer them if I’m allowed.”
“So you’re telling me, I can write all of those criminals names in the notebook, and basically do the same thing as Light and Misa?” Khloya asked.
“Maybe, if you’re up to it, or you can write a few names of the people you hate. Either way, once you write a name in the death note, you will neither go to heaven or hell~”. Ryuk spoke in a dark tone. Khloya stared at him intently for a few minutes, she didn’t move.
She quickly sat down and opened the notebook again. She grabbed her pen from the right side of the desk and was ready to write any name. She was watching the TV intently, a few minutes passed, the ticking of the clock and the news reporter was the only thing they heard.
Will she be the next Kira?
