Friends

Other

Friends

I… I never intended for all this madness…

All I was doing was giving them a second chance at living…

And I didn't want to be alone…

I wanted friends.

I never expected them to be so violent and so vengeful…

I only made things worse.

I feel as if it's all my fault that all those innocent guards died…

If I hadn't done it, then they would have never killed them…

But… I don't have a clean slate either…

I too have killed.

I too feel the need for vengance…

I feel anger.

So much anger.

Anger that can only be soothed by the sound of the box's music…

Without it I become violent.

I remember when I was still a child…

But I was an unhappy child…

I would often cry…

I clearly remember my last moments…

I was standing in front of an older location…

And I was crying.

I heard a car.

A man stepped out, and asked me what was wrong.

I could tell something was not right about this man.

He scared me.

So I told him to go away and leave me alone.

He did not leave.

Instead, he stepped closer.

He grinned a grin that would scare off even the bravest of people.

He pulled out a shiny blood-stained knife…

I saw what he was doing, and I began to cry harder.

I shouted for help, but he covered my mouth with his hand.

And then he stabbed me.

Again and again he stabbed me…

Then he plunged that knife right through my heart, laughing with sadistic glee.

I fell to the ground, feeling my life slowly fade away.

And then the man left me for dead.

And so later my soul became this monstrosity…

My mask bears the markings of my tears…

And those tear marks are purple, just like the one who slaughtered me…

I have a wide, permenant smile that disguises my true feelings…

Anger… hatred… sadness.

So now here I lie curled up in my present box…

My only comfort being the other much smaller box of music.

It's the only thing that can make me calm now.

It seems as if a part of me is actually waiting for the music to stop.

Since without it my anger spikes, and I go on a rampage.

And during it, I always go after, and murder the night guard.

And killing them seems to somehow satisfy my rage…

And I feel bad for it.

If it's not me that gets them, then one of my "friends" does.

I too was a child once, just like them.

So young and innocent was I, just like them.

I had a name, just like them.

But I am no longer that child…

I am…

A puppet.

Patrick Johns: The Prince was an exciting read. I enjoyed the spoiled bratty protagonist and his drastic change through out the story. The world building was well though out and clear. The author did a great job painting a picture for the reader without having a map. I liked the connection to real life leaders....

sibyleisley: Right away, I was charmed by the characters in Nothing Between Us. Bella is fun to follow and SO easy to relate to, and Jace is the guy that you could spend 24/7 with and not get sick of him. And together, they're adorable and so right for each other. The writer did such a great job making me car...

Lacey Schmidt: The Trouble with Super is that you can't stop reading it. Mr. Barrett's characters are all to easy to relate to even if you don't have a super quirk of your own, and their plight is both heart-rendingly funny and heart-warmingly sad at the same time. It's a bit like Office Space meets the Matri...

farziex3: I think this novel is perfect because it had erotic, romance, and towards the end was a twist so I was just on the edge of my seat reading this book. It was honestly really amazing. I haven't found a book I actually liked to read for almost 2-3 years and this was a great book to start off. Makes ...

Animeviewer: It is one of the best stories I've ever read. This story will have you riding a roller coaster of emotions and nearly dying to know what happens next. You will get very attached to the characters and in my case I relate well with some of their very traumatic or emotional experiences, Just Juliet f...

Books17: This is my first book review.I found the story to be very intriguing. The beginning of the story starts and you are immediately thrown into wanting to know what will happen next, The action, or intrigue is established early, so there isn't the feeling of the story dragging on, or thinking about wh...

johnksutherland: Very modern, and quite erotic. I write erotics myself, but from a strictly 'straight' point of view and not BDSM. I read the first story and skimmed the rest. The author's writing style is superb and very easy to read. The stories are simple and entertaining. I liked everything about it, and I a...

RodRaglin: Your writing is very good, Rachel, but remember you also have to entertain the reader and in that regard it's a bit sparse in action and dialogue.Consider when revising...When starting a new story always consider your protagonist's Goal - what they want; Motivation - why they want it; and, Confli...

RedX9: I would love it if you would show how she is the bottom of the class. A paragraph alone isn't enough to show this.If she was such a screw up, how did she pass and graduate from the class. Are her teachers this lax that they would allow a screw up to graduate?I didn't understand the schooling syst...

sujitha nair: What's so distinct about this story was that it could easily be real. Praveena can be your classmate, neighbor or that girl you saw at the coffee shop today. The important decisions she makes and the dilemmas she faces, remind us of our own twisted lives.

Bboyjoon: A brilliant but unsettling story about 5 murders committed by a serial killer. This novel scared me a little bit and I have to commend you for being able to do that. I wanted to know if you’ve actually met a serial killer before. I mean the way you’ve described the mind of a psychopath is extreme...

Lydia Sherrer: I first read The Speaker almost a decade ago when I first discovered author Sandra Leigh. I loved it then, and I still love it now. It is a simple, easy read, yet deep in meaning and rich in storyline. I do not know what kind of research or prior knowledge Leigh has of First Nation tribes, but sh...
