Chapter 1:

My sixth year at Hogwarts started today. New students arrived, old students arrived. Same old, same old. The energy at Hogwarts was great though. I got to see my old friends who I missed so much. My bestfriend being Fred Weasley.

I am Victoria Winter. Slytherin. Shocking? Maybe. For most Slytherins "hating" Gryffindors, I'm quite fond of them. Especially the Weasley's. They'd been my friends since the first year at Hogwarts. Fred and I were especially close though. One year I overheard him and his brother talking about a prank they were going to pull, and I wanted to be apart of it. So, I decided to make myself apart of it. I threatened to hex both of them if they didn't let me join, needless to say they let me. George and I were close, but we weren't as close as Fred and I. Ever since that prank we were a duo. While there was the the unattachment of him and his brother. It still worked.

I was settling back into my dorm when Fred came into it.

"Fred?! I've missed you!" I said as he took me into his arms.

"I've missed you too, mate" he said cheerfully.

We spent a good hour catching up on how our summers went. Telling me about all of the elaborate pranks he and his brother pulled. Cracking jokes, per usual for him. Making me laugh. He was the easiest to talk to in the friend group, that's why we were the closest. Excluding him and his brothers bond.

It was time to go down for dinner so Fred left early, as he left my roommate came in, Pansy Parkinson. Pansy and I got along great but I wouldn't say we were the bestest of friends. More of acquaintances. We didn't talk much aside from the fact that we were roommates.

Pansy and I walked to the great hall together, catching up as we went. When we got their we sat at the Slytherin table, our usual seats were taken so we had to snag what we could get. We were talking when I felt a flick on the back of my head. "What the-" I began to say before I was cut short by a cold, recognizable voice.

"That's my seat." Malfoy. Draco Malfoy.
A cold-blooded, horrible boy. I hated him and I barley knew him. He "ran the school" as some would say. Bullying anything that walked. Truly ruthless. He and I never talked, but I got a taste of what he was like by watching him throughout the years. Now I know that sounds creepy, but he's made an image for himself that's a bit hard to ignore. I've never been this close to him, and were from the same house.

"Did you hear me, stupid?" He said. I guess I must have zoned off.

"I'm sorry, repeat that please."

"I said, get out of my seat." He said, giving my a cold glare.

"Oh! I'm sorry, sure." I said and got up. I was just about to mind my own again and go on but I just couldn't because of his next remark

"That's right, ugly."

"Excuse me?" I said back, my temper rising.

"You heard me."

"I don't think I did, I don't speak idiot." I retorted

"What did you just say to me?"

I rolled my eyes and continued on about to start a conversation with Pansy. I'd started to say something when I felt a cold hand on my shoulder turning me around suddenly, making me face to face with the blonde boy we all know and "love".

"What. Did. You. Say?" He said, angrily.

"You heard me." I said, mocking him. The entirety of Slytherin was looking at us. Not many were brave enough to stand up to Malfoy, but he'd called me ugly and I wasn't going to let that slide.

"Don't ever talk to me like that again." He said and started to walk off

"Or what? If I don't is your father gonna hear about it?"

He turned around suddenly, raising his wand to me. In a panic I quickly drew mine and decided the Expelliarmus charm, sending his wand across the floor. He went to pick it up, but a familiar black shoe placed itself over his wand. Looking up I saw Professor Severus Snape glaring down at both Malfoy and I.

"Causing trouble on the first day are we, Malfoy?" He said, venom to his deep, bone chilling voice.

"No sir." Malfoy said, causing me to giggle. Malfoy was about to make a rude remark to me but before he could say a thing Snape said something.

"And who are you?"

"Winter." I said "Victoria Winter"

"Ah, well miss Winter. Since you were involved in this little stir up as well, you and Mr. Malfoy can spend tomorrow evening in detention."

"But sir-" Malfoy and I began at the same time

"No buts. Detention tomorrow and that's final." Snape said, walking away.

I took my seat and grumbled. From across the table I could overhear Malfoy raging on about how it was my fault and about how he was going to make this year a living hell because of it.

Just great. What a beautiful start to a new year.
