Year One: The Sorting Hat
Today was the day. Rose was going to go to one of the most prestigious wizarding establishments in the UK. Well, possibly second best after Durmstrang and Beauxbatons.
Hogwarts was where her father, mother, and her aunts and uncles, and grandparents went to school.
They got to learn so many different spells, charms, and enchantments throughout the years, not to mention the memories they got to make!
Her poor uncle Harry nearly died every year he attended school, though.
Despite all the eerie and malicious actions that occurred several decades ago, Rose was excited to go because she knew her cousins, Albus and James, would be there when she needed them.
There were moments she wanted to slap the shit out of them, but she still loved them greatly.
When she arrived at King's Cross, she saw James, Albus, and her loyal friend Cedrina Chang.
Cedrina engulfed Rose into a big hug. "It's great to see you again, Rose!" she gushed.
"Same to you! How was your summer holiday?"
"Oh, it was wonderful! My mum and I went to Gladrags Wizardwear to shop for my Yule Ball dress!"
"But isn't that 3 years away?"
"So what? I always come prepared!"
"Now girls, no arguing til' we get to Hogwarts," a voice giggled behind them.
"Yasmine!" the girls did a group hug.
"Rosie! Ced! Where's Francine?"
"I'm right here!"
Francine's hair had grown a bit since the last time she had seen her friends. It was once short and straight, now it was dyed blonde and almost rapunzel length.
Yasmine, Cedrina, and Rose all stared at her in shock. Francine was timid and shy, just like her father Neville, and she didn't put herself out there very much. So when the girls saw Francine, it was like looking at an entirely different person.
"Damn, Francine! You went blonde! However, did you accomplish such a thing?" Yasmine asked.
"Hair dye spell."
"Brilliant!" Rose smiled.
"Looking good, Longbottom," Albus smirked, putting his arm around Francine.
Francine blushed a bit. Rose crossed her arms.
"Where the hell did you come from, Albus?"
"Heaven," Francine gushed. Albus looked into her eyes for a bit before turning back to his cousin.
"When did you..." Cedrina gestured to the two.
Francine tugged a bit of hair behind her ear as Albus snuck his hand around her waist, pulling her closer to his side. Rose nearly threw up looking at them.
"Summertime," Albus shrugged.
"And you didn't think to tell us?"
"Rose, I knew you wouldn't approve. I would've told Cedrina, but she's not exactly the best at keeping secrets,"
"It was ONE TIME, Francine! ONE. TIME."
"Whatever, Albus. It's time to get on the train anyway." Yasmine pushed her friends onto the train.
Rose sat next to Yasmine and across from Cedrina and James, who got on before the girls did. Francine and Albus sat together, cuddling close to each other.
Rose had a good time chatting with her friends when a blond-haired boy came in with his friends. A set of fraternal twins with dark brown hair, and two girls, one with reddish-brown hair, the other had blue streaked black hair.
The boy had a stern look on his face like he was deep in thought. He ran his hand through his platinum blond hair and bit his lip as he noticed Rose. She quickly turned her head and closed her eyes.
Shit, she thought. He definitely saw her staring.
"Oi, looks like we got another Weasley in the bunch!" the boy laughed, his friends cackling along with him.
He walked up to Yasmine and demanded, "Go sit with Potter and Longbottom, Yasmine,"
Rose raised an eyebrow. How'd her friends know him, but not her? She wondered.
"But they're snogging, and-"
"I don't care, now sit!" The boy sighed. Yasmine scrambled to sit next to the couple, interrupting their kissing session. Cedrina and James decided to join them.
The boy then sat next to Rose.
"I'm Malfoy. Scorpius Malfoy,"
"Tell me, Granger-Weasley, how you've grown so beautiful since I saw you last?" "
"Saw me last?"
"Zabini's 7th birthday. You don't remember me, love?"
"I'm not your love, but that does ring a bell,"
Scorpius looked at Rose for a second before leaning into her ear and whispering,
"You look stunning, by the way."
"What? I'm just wearing my robes, Malfoy,"
"So what? You look good in anything,"
"What's your angle here?"
"Do my homework for the next 6 years? Then possibly a date?"
"Homework, maybe. I'd never date you even if Merlin came back to life. Besides, we're only 13,"
"Is that right?"
Scorpius was really close to Rose's face. She could smell his breath, minty and fresh.
He brushed his fingers against Rose's lips.
"Maybe this will change your mind," he leaned in and tried to kiss her. She pushed him away.
"Nope, still not going to date you,"
Rose cleared her throat. On the inside, butterflies were swarming inside her.
"Have it your way, Weasley! I bet by 6th year you won't be able to resist me!"
"Yeah, in your dreams."
"I'm a Malfoy, for fucks sake! No one rejects a Malfoy!"
"My father wouldn't be the first to reject one," Albus chimed in.
"Shut it, Potter," One of the twins sneered.
Rose had had enough.
"I'm not going out with you, Malfoy! Take it or leave it!"
"Whatever. I wouldn't want to date a filthy half-blooded bitch like you anyway."
"Are you serious? You just tried to kiss me! What's your problem?"
Prunella, one of the twins, got up and grabbed Rose's wrist so tightly it was starting to bruise.
"Mark my words, Rose Granger-Weasley, you don't belong here, and you never will. I will make sure you know your place at school. No one EVER disrespects a descendant of the Sacred 28. Filthy half-blood!" she growled, throwing Rose back into her seat.
Scorpius, Prunella, Phlox, Allie, and Vera all got out of the train. Albus, James, Francine, Cedrina, Yasmine, and Rose all followed them sullenly into the castle.

"Cedrina Chang," Maxwell McGonagall called out.
Cedrina walked up slowly to the Sorting Hat and took a deep breath. Albus, Francine, Yasmine, and Rose gave her a thumbs up. The Hat then spoke.
"Ah, the daughter of Cho Chang and the late but great Cedric Diggory I see. Hmm. Yes, well, you have your mother's brain and your father's sweetheart. But where to put you? Gryffindor? Hufflepuff? Or maybe..."
"Please don't put me in Ravenclaw just because I'm half Asian," she begged.
"Not Ravenclaw eh? Well then, welcome to GRYFFINDOR!!"
The Gryffindor table cheered as Cedrina ran down and high fived Rose's cousins, Roxanne and Fred II.
"Alexandra "Allie" Crabbe," Maxwell called again, and she was instantly put in Slytherin. Scorpius and their little gang whistled and hollered as she sat down, pursing her lips.
"Yasmine Finnigan-Thomas," Yasmine confidently sat down at the stool. She was sorted into Gryffindor! She ran to Cedrina and smiled.
"Guinevere "Vera" Goyle," She was also (surprisingly) placed into Gryffindor. "There has to be a misunderstanding here!" she huffed, stomping to the Gryffindor table, making sure to stay far away from Cedrina and Yasmine.
Rose tensed up when her name was called.
Scorpius shouted, "Yes, you! C'mon, Half-Blood! Get up there!" And the whole school laughed and snickered.
"SILENCE!" Maxwell redirected the pupils.
Rose took a deep breath and sat down.
"Your father was courageous, and your mum
was brilliant for a muggle-born. Ravenclaw perhaps?" The hat hesitated before concluding,
"GRYFFINDOR!" she ran to her friends, but Vera had tripped her. The whole school laughed even more. Yasmine and Cedrina helped her back up.
"Francine Longbottom." Gryffindor.
"Scorpius Malfoy." Slytherin.
"Erica and Evan McGonagall." Hufflepuff.
"Melody McLaggen." Gryffindor.
"Augustus Nott." Slytherin.
"Prunella and Phlox Parkinson." Prunella Gryffindor, Phlox Slytherin.
"Albus Potter." Slytherin.
"Octavia Wood." Ravenclaw.
"Forrest and Jasper Zabini." Forrest Slytherin, Jasper Ravenclaw.
"Heloise Lambert." Hufflepuff.
"Belladonna Venturi." Slytherin.
"Madeleine Hamilton." Ravenclaw.
"Derwyn Bailey." Gryffindor.
"Sean Battersea." Slytherin.
"David Chesapeake." Hufflepuff.
"Agatha Filch." Slytherin.
"Desdemona Umbridge." Ravenclaw.
"Ryan Simmons, from Ilvermorny." Hufflepuff.
After the Sorting Ceremony was the big feast. There were roast beef and chicken, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, and gravy.
Rose treated herself to large helpings of potatoes and chicken. One Slytherin girl named Lillith Evergreen turned to Prunella and whispered, "What a pig."
Prunella snorted loudly. Soon the entire Slytherin table was making snorting and oink sounds.
Rose turned around to see what was happening, then everyone at the Slytherin table went silent.
"Hey, Rose, come over here!" Allie snickered. Rose hesitated for a bit before walking over.
Scorpius saw Rose and quickly put his hands around her waist. "Still hungry, Weasley?" he whispered.
"No, I'm quite full."
"You sure about that?"
Before she could respond, Scorpius was handed a bowl of mashed potatoes, and he shoved them right into her face, causing her to fall backwards and hit her head.
Yasmine, Cedrina, and Francine all ran over to help her up.
"Why'd you do that, Scorpius?" Albus seethed.
"I didn't mean to shove her,"
"Oh, that's bullshit, Malfoy!" Rose cried out.
"It's what you deserve, Weasley!" Prunella grabbed Rose out of Francine and Yasmine's grasp and threw her to the ground.
"SECTUMSEMPRA!" she yelled, pointing her wand at Rose.
A sharp pain cascaded through her midsection, and she was bleeding heavily.
Scorpius pushed Prunella out of the way.
"You've killed her!"
"Oh, lighten up! She's fine."
"She's bleeding out for fuck's sake!"
Scorpius took off his robes and wrapped them around Rose. He picked her up and took her to the hospital wing.
The whole school was silent once again.
"Is she going to be ok?" Yasmine asked Madam Pomfrey.
Yes. Miss Weasley will be ok." Madam Pomfrey turned to Scorpius. "Are you her boyfriend?"
Scorpius laughed so hard he nearly coughed. "Are you kidding me? I hate her!"
"Well you carried her in here, and she's in your robes."
"Trust me, I wouldn't date her even if she asked me to."
Madam Pomfrey nodded. "So then are YOU her boyfriend?"
Albus nearly threw up. "No, she's my cousin. Francine is my girlfriend."
"Well then. Good to know. Now children, STEP BACK!" Madam Pomfrey took out her wand.
"VULNERA SANENTUR!" She bellowed. Rose's flow of blood was decreased.
"VULNERA SANENTUR!" Madam Pomfrey yelled again, and Rose's wounds began to heal.
She cast the spell one more time and Rose's midsection was almost fully healed.
Rose had started to wake up.
"ROSE!" her friends rushed to hug her, but not to put on too much force because she was still in tremendous pain. Scorpius scratched the back of his neck as Rose beckoned him over.
"Thanks for helping me, Malfoy. I thought you'd finish me off," she grinned.
"I couldn't. As much as I loathe you it wouldn't even be a plan to kill you."
"Stop, you're making me blush."
"Excuse me? I was being sarcastic."
Scorpius gulped. "Ahem, so was I."
As everyone bid their goodbyes, Rose slipped back asleep. Everyone left but Scorpius.
He took one glance at sleeping Rose and thought,
"Do I actually hate her? Or do I hate her simply because she isn't deeply in love with me? Nah, she's a Weasley bitch. Of course I hate her. He thought about it some more.
Right? Aren't I supposed to hate her?
But she's so...
But Scorpius! She's a half-blood! A Weasley! A Granger! She rejected you!
What would your friends think!
I don't care what those imbeciles think. I did, but if they can't accept- I can't even accept this. I can't tell Rose or anyone else. I've got to keep this tough act up. What is wrong with me?
Scorpius was taken aback by his newfound love for a certain redhead. He went up to his dorm to free his mind.
