her whole body ached as voices raced around her mind, a slight ringing noise echoing. she couldnโ€™t move nor could she see anything except darkness. a low humming noise began to fill her ears before everything went quiet.

โ€œitโ€™s another girl.โ€ her eyes shot open and she was immediately hit by a blinding light. she sat up quickly and tried to identify where she was.

โ€œbreathe, breathe,โ€ that same voice from earlier called. she looked up to see a boy with brown eyes and sandy blonde hair. he was starring down at her with one of his hands outstretched.

she looked up to see that she was in some sort of cage surrounded by boxes with the same words written all over them, โ€˜WCKED.โ€™ above her, more figures surrounded the girlโ€™s cage, looking down on her as they whispered to one another.

โ€œyouโ€™re alright,โ€ the boy said. he had some sort of accent to him that seemed to fill her senses.

โ€œwhere am i?โ€ she managed to croak out. โ€œwho are you? what am i doing here?โ€

the boy chuckled to himself and extended his hand out further, โ€œcalm down there greenie.โ€

it didnโ€™t seem as if she had much of a choice so she reached out and grabbed his hand. his hands were rough and yet soft at the same time, they were warm as she didnโ€™t even realize she was cold. together they climbed out of the girlโ€™s cage where she was met by grass and beautiful scenery.

as she looked around, she noticed two things. one, there seemed to be no other girls here and two, there was a wall, a great big wall that incaged them there.

the boys all stared at the girl and laughed while saying things such as โ€œgreenieโ€ and โ€œshuck.โ€ they all joked amongst themselves about her except one, the blonde boy from earlier. he stood amongst them with his hands crossed over his chest, his eyes scanning her up and down.

he began to move towards her and as if by instinct, the girlโ€™s feet began to move and carry her off the ground. she ran across the green grass, not knowing where she was headed, just that she needed to get out of here. she ran and ran until a pair of arms wrapped around her torso and stopped her from moving any further.

she was panting, her chest rising as the figure holding her lightly placed her on the ground, not letting go of the grip around her waist.

โ€œwhat the bloody hell do you think youโ€™re doing greenie?โ€ he asked while trying to catch his breath, his accent could still be heard in between his pants for air.

โ€œget away from me!โ€ she exclaimed as she tried to pry herself out of his grip. the boy grabbed the girlโ€™s wrists and spun her around to face him, his brown eyes meeting hers.

โ€œlook greenie, we know youโ€™re scared but you need to calm down alright?โ€ she nodded her head and he sighed. โ€œgood. now letโ€™s get you somewhere to explain everything to you.โ€ he let go of one of her wrists and began to pull her back to the center of the grass.

โ€œwait!โ€ she found herself saying. the boy turned around and cocked an eyebrow at her. โ€œwhatโ€™s your name?โ€

he smirked to himself and shook his head, โ€œthe nameโ€™s newt, green bean.โ€

together they walked back towards the crowd where she was met by a brown shack made out of wood. inside was cold stone steps where everyone was waiting there. she walked in after newt where he sat her down in front of everyone. he made his way towards the rest of the boys who were all facing her and soon, a tall dark-skinned man arrived and all eyes fell onto him as he approached her cautiously and smiled.

โ€œhello greenie,โ€ he said to her. the girl simply just nodded, not knowing why everyone kept calling her that. โ€œmy name is alby, do you remember your name?โ€ he asked and suddenly everything went quiet and the ringing got loud.

the girlโ€™s mind was racing as she realized she couldnโ€™t remember a single thing. a feeling of fear began to fill her sense as she searched every corner of her mind, longing to find something but there wasnโ€™t a single trace of anything. but then it came to her.

โ€œz.โ€

โ€œexcuse me?โ€ alby asked.

the girl shook her head, โ€œi am subject z, and the maze is a very bad place.โ€ and that was when the whole place went mute, and everything started to come back to her.

everyone began to whisper to one another as albyโ€™s voice boomed throughout the place, ordering everyone to remain quiet.

โ€œis that all you remember? do you remember your name?โ€ alby asked.

โ€œnadia. im pretty sure my name is nadia,โ€ she answered. albyโ€™s expression began to soften with ease as he nodded his head.

โ€œanything else?โ€

the girl looked up from the floor and focused her eyes on one boy across from her, โ€œi remember him.โ€
