1 (Karasuno High)

"KIYOKO-SAN~" Tanaka and Noya yelled from behind, rushing at Kiyoko. I quickly grabbed her arm and pulled her to the side before she was ambushed by the two second-years.

"That was a close one, thank you [y/n]" Kiyoko smiled at me.

I gave back a smile, "of course, no problem.

Looking back towards Noya and Tanaka, I laughed at their sour expressions, "c'mon boys, we have some things we need to perfect for our game against Inarizaki," grabbing Noya's elbow, and Tanka's wrist and i hurriedly dragged them to the volleyball gym.

"Suga! Daichi!" I happily greeted, bowing, then hugging them.

"[Y/N]!!" Hinata yelled across the gym.

"SHOYO!" I smiled.

"Suga, Daichi, Hinata," Kiyoko greeted coming up next to me with a look of amusement. "[y/n] and I have some bags to prepare, so we will be working on that, we can help with tosses in the later portion of practice if you need."

"Great, thank you Kiyoko, thank you [y/n]." Daichi replied, "we don't want to keep you from your business, say in about an hour can you come back to help us?"

Kiyoko nodded.

"[y/n], how's your arm?" Yamaguchi asked coming out of the supply closet.

I loosely flexed my [non-dominant] arm. There was minimal bruising left, and the swelling had stopped. It was also functioning enough that I had no longer needed the brace.

"It's great, good as it was before," i smiled wider. Happy to finally be back and assisting the team.

Three weeks ago, during some practice serves Asahi was practicing serving, and as he was about to hit it, Noya had startled him, making him aim the ball the wrong way. And when he had hit it it came straight for me and I had used my [non-dominant] wrist to protect myself from it, but there was enough force and impact that it badly sprained.

Asahi felt so bad and was so guilty, but all was better after you forgave him. Saying it wasn't his fault. He still managed to slip in an apology every few days, which I would laugh off and then reassure him it was alright.

"Ok, come on [y/n]!"
"Coming!" I called back to Kiyoko rushing to catch up with her.

"So.. what are we doing?" I said, asking skeptically.
She let out a quiet laugh, "oh no, we are setting up some gifts for them that the school gave us the funds for, but we could've done it there. Except I wanted to talk about soulmates without.. them."

I faltered your step at the mention of a soulmate. I knew i had one, definitely. The writing scrawled horizontally on my ribcage proved it.

I chewed on your lip (a nervous habit i had) as Kiyoko explained how to set up the bags.

"So, tell me [y/n] what mainstream category are you?" Kiyoko asked as she signed a card and put it into the first bag.

"Oh, um, well I have the tattoo of what they first say to me," I mumbled, handing Kiyoko the next card to sign, and capping the black ballpoint pen in my hand that was slowly getting covered in pen ink.

Gasping, Kiyoko asked, "really? What does it say? May I see it?"

I looked around quickly and made sure no one was around. The class we were in was pretty secluded and most students had gone home or away from campus for the day.

I unbuttoned the bottom three buttons of my uniform and rolled up the left side to the band of my white bra. It revealed clean, curved letters saying, "No need for the hostility water-girl."

Kiyoko looked at it for a long while, before you rolled your shirt back down and rebuttoned it.

"It's beautiful," she whispered.

You smiled awkwardly, "thanks, what's your category?"

"I have the countdown."

"SHIMIZU! HOW- WHATS THE TIME LEFT?" You asked, worried for your best friend.

"It says I have about two years left don't worry. And would you please not share to anyone about it?"
You nodded and went back to signing the cards.

You and Kiyoko made quiet talk as you filled the bags with new water bottles, deodorants and the cards.

"Daichi!" Kiyoko waved, catching Daichi's attention, "we're done early, do you need us doing anything?"

As Kiyoko and Daichi conversed you watched as Hinata got ready to practice a quick attack with Kageyama.

Kageyama set it to Hinata, who used his minus-tempo approach, and sharply sent it over the net and straight to Noya. Nishinoya hit the ball up with ease and directed it back over the net. Hinata cheered along with Noya, as Kageyama told them to be shut up and get ready for the next one.

"Can you at least try giving me a challenge?" Noya whined.

You thought of how lucky you were to be able to go to Karasuno, even if it wasn't your first choice.. or any choice at all until the last minute.

You could've gone to Shiritorzawa if it wasn't for the move. You applied, took the entrance exam and passed the exam with a school average that would've accepted you in. But then your mom got relocated to a different office for her work, you had to move.

'Damn, imagine if I never met these fools.' You thought.

β€”β€”β€”

Daichi had Kiyoko throw some of the balls and collect them as well, while you say and watched so you knew what to do next year when Kiyoko is gone, and there's no one to guide you. You frowned at the thought of a school year without Shimizu.

"[y/n]!!" Yamaguchi shouted.

Turning your head towards the side wall of the court, you saw he was standing next to your bag.

"Your phone is ringing [y/n]."

Quickly getting up and running around the gym to your bag, you thanked Tadashi and he waved it off with a blush.

Looking at your phone, you saw one (1) missed call from your cousin, Atsumu Miya.

'Why on Earth would Atsumu call you out of the blue?' You questioned. 'No, scratch that, why on Earth would Atsumu call you in general? It must be important if he does.'

You scowled as you clicked the contact info and called Atsumu back.

One ring.

Two rings.

Three rings.

Before the fourth ring, you looked back at the caller ID and made sure it was dialing the right number.

Four rings.

"Oh, hey [y/n]-chan~," Atsumu greeted through the receiver.

"What the hell do you want?" You asked. "You never call me unless it's an emergency, and I'm gonna be honest and say I'm one-hundred percent sure there isn't an emergency going on."

"HI [y/n]!" You heard Osamu shout at Atsumu's phone.

"Am i on speaker?" You said bitterly.

"Well not anymore. You're right, there is no emergency and I didn't call you, Ginjima did," Atsumu explained in a smug manner.

Hitoshi Ginjima was another player at Inarizaki High on the volleyball team. He was a second year like the twins and you.

"He's that one outside hitter right? The slightly reckless one?" You asked.

You could hear Osamu and Atsumu laugh, "yeah that's the one."

"Okay, well great, I have a practice to continue so I'm hanging up now, bye Osamu!"

"Do i not get a good bye?" Atsumu asked feigning hurt.

"Of course you don't," Osamu replied for you, " have you met yourself? Anyways, bye [y/n]."

Atsumu scoffed and said bye, and right as you hung up he said, "wait practice for what-?"
