It was the next morning and you were sleeping soundlessly in bed. You felt something shift beside you and the bed dipped before going back to normal.
Footsteps made their way out of the room closing the door softly behind them.
Your eyes fluttered open and you closed them again trying to get as much sleep in as you can. You drifted back into the peaceful darkness, taking advantage of the moment.
How long has it been?
You were hearing voices.
You opened your eyes and slowly sat up, looked around, and took in your surroundings.
You were on a king-sized bed that had white sheets and a large light gray cover. Two windows were in the room that was beside the bed that was covered by white curtains, letting the sunlight shine through the room. Everything was neat and tidy.
You looked to your right to see that he was no longer in the bed beside you. A frown made its way onto your face as you sat there for a minute before letting out a small sigh.
You heard voices again and your eyes widen. W-was someone here other than Ray?!
You got up slowly and quietly out of the bed and tiptoed your way towards the door.
'Who is that?'
You couldn't hear because Ray closed the door, and the door was thick enough for you not to hear what's going on in the living room.
You opened the door slightly and peeked through the window to see Ray, still wearing the clothes that he slept in. He was walking around the living room while talking on the phone.
You opened the door all the way and stepped out waiting for him to finish.
"Okay. Update me if something new happens." He hung up the phone and grabbed onto his hair before letting out a deep breath.
"Hey," you said softly.
He turned around towards you with a small frown. "Hey," he said in a deep raspy voice from waking up.
"Umm.. are you okay?" You asked cautiously. It sounded like he was having an important phone call on the phone. But his face was dull. It was as if he just threw all of his emotions away into a black hole.
"Yeah," he said dryly, walking into the kitchen fixing him something to drink, and then sitting down at his table.
"Oh, that's good," you said awkwardly. You looked down and played with him on the shirt that you borrowed from him before looking to the side. "I'm going to wash if you don't mind."
He looked up and then back down to his cup. "He my guest," he grumbled.
"Don't forget to gather all of your things from my room," he said looking at his room door then back to you.
Your lips parted slightly at his behavior but you tried to pay no mind to it.
You went into the washroom gathered your things and went into the restroom to wash. You were standing under the warm water thinking about the events that happened last night.
You couldn't help but think everything back over but you couldn't just go back in time to take it back. You agreed to do that.
You just had to push those feelings deep down inside until it vanished away into thin air.
When you were done, you quickly dried off your body and put on the clothes that you had on from work.
You stepped out of the bathroom and went back into his room, ignoring him.
You closed the door behind you and sat in the bed. You grabbed your phone from out of your purse and decided to call someone.
"Oh, Hey Y/n! How are you?"
"I'm doing good. Thanks for asking."
"That's good. Do you need something?"
You look at the room door with furrowed eyebrows and looked down. "I know I've asked too much from you but is it possible for you to get me? I'll repay you I swear!"
The other line was quiet, you heard shuffling noises in the background. You heard her walking back towards the phone and keys ringing. "No problem, just send me your location and I'll be there as quickly as I can."
Your face lit up and you squealed quietly, making Gilda laugh. "Well, I'm about to send it to you. Call text me once you arrive!"
When the both of you were done talking you hung up the phone and made sure to gather up all of your things, making sure not to leave anything behind like he wanted. "That's... everything," you said with your hands on your hips.
You looked down at the bed with a furrowed eyebrows. You started making up the bed, tucking in the sheets, straightening out the covers, then placing the pillows onto the bed neatly against the headboard.
Not too long after you left the room and saw that Ray was no longer in the same spot. You looked around the large opened area that was attached to the kitchen, wondering where he went off to.
Maybe this was for the best.
He was probably ignoring you.
You sat down on the couch and looked around, taking in a better look now that it was day time where the light could shine in. Instead of it being in the middle of the night, dark.
Your eyes stopped on a picture that was on the wall.
The same lady that you saw in Ray's office.
"Ray looks... just like her," you mumbled.
"Who do I look like?"
You flinched and turned around quickly. "O-oh... I was talking about the woman on the picture," you said pointing at the picture with a wavering smile.
He looked from you and then at the picture with a dark look on his face. His frown deepened as he stared at the picture.
"That's my mom. Of course, I'll resemble her. I came from her after all," he said sarcastically before drinking from his cup and placing it onto the kitchen table.
You looked at him slightly irritated.
"There's no need to be rude," you said looking at him with furrowed eyebrows. "And I didn't say anything wrong-"
Ray rolls his eyes and looked at you making you stop your rant. "Did you gather all of your things yet?" He was showing how irritated he was getting by your presence and it was ticking you off.
"Yes, I did. Wait. Why are you getting so irritated and being so rude to me?" You asked with a frown on your face.
"I'm not," he said dryly before drinking some more.
"But you are. Is it because of last night?"
When he was done drinking his drink he went over to the kitchen sink and placed it in. "Look, L/n. First, I couldn't care less what happened last night. As I said, there's no need to bring it up once it was done. No strings are attached."
You turned your body more on the couch so you could get a better look at him with parted lips. "Okay, even though it doesn't mean anything doesn't mean that you have to be so mean to me about something that you also wanted-"
"I'm not done talking," he quickly cut you off making you grow angry at his bluntness. He crossed his arms over his chest and looked at you with cold eyes like he did in the office yesterday.
"That, us, what we did doesn't mean nothing to me. And I'm not rude, I'm just brutally honest and I like to get straight to the point instead of sugar-coating shit."
You stood up biting your lower lip. You wanted to keep your calm but you can't. But he was your boss, you didn't want to jeopardize anything that you had going for you.
As if I'm cue, an alarm went off on your phone. You looked down at it and immediately grabbed your purse.
He looked at you with raised eyebrows leaning up from the counter.
"Leaving? You don't even have-"
"That's none of your business," you shot back making Ray's eyes narrow.
You placed on your shoes and opened the door and turned to him. "I'm sorry for whatever is bothering you and that you feel the need to take it out on me. And thank you for your hospitality." And with that, you left his apartment with a Ray with a blank look on his face.
He looked away at the door and walked towards the picture of his mother on the wall staring at it with a dull look.
You made it down to the lobby and going into the parking lot looking for Gilda. You noticed her car and smiled brightly.
When you got inside you smelt the familiar scent of lavender and the warm heat that came from her air conditioner.
"Woah... who lives here?" She asked with parted lips, pushing up her glasses while she looked out the window. "Do you have a sugar daddy or something?"
You choked slightly and shook your head no. "No no no no! I didn't have a ride to get back home yesterday so my manager let me stay at... his home."
"His? He? A man?" She asked looking at you with huge eyes.
"How can you not make a move on him? I bet he's handsome," she mumbled.
"Gilda?!" You shrieked. You didn't expect this behavior from her.
She laughed lightly and shrugged. "You never know! I'm just curious, that's all."
You groaned and sat back in the seat while Gilda put her car in reverse, backing out of the parking space before driving out of the parking lot. She looked to you in the corner of her eyes before looking at the road.
"We are friends now... right?" She asked.
You looked at her in suspicion before speaking. "Yess?"
"And friends would tell each other things... right?"
You hummed and nodded biting on your lower lip. You already knew where this was going.
"Then... what happened?!" She shrieked in excitement.
A huge blush went on your face making you groan. You turned your body the other way from her trying to avoid her accusing eyes. "Oh Gosh Gilda, why did you have to put me on the spot?" You asked grimacing at the thought of Ray and his foul behavior.
"There's no way you couldn't have! And it's best to ask now because if I don't ask you in person, you would most likely avoid it through the phone!"
"You're right about that," you chuckled.
You hesitantly told Gilda what happened between the both of you. Down to every drop. About how he was being kind to you in the beginning, what lead up to the both of you being intimate, and how you got into a small argument before you left to meet up with her.
You were nervous about how she might react but she kept quiet, most likely thinking and soaking in all of the information into her brain before she spoke out on the matter.
Think before you speak, right?
"Well it sounds to me that, this guy is in a mess," she said pursing her lips.
"Yeah. He seems so closed off and the way he reacts to things makes me question what's going on in his life."
"Yeah. I agree. It seems that he doesn't know how to control his emotions nor does he know how to express himself. When things get too rough, he takes it out on the person near him."
You kept quiet and looked out the window watching the buildings pass by.
You looked towards her with raised eyebrows. "Hmm?"
"Honestly... learning from experience, I think you should stay away from him," Gilda said looking at you before looking back at the road.
"Stay... away from him? I understand but, that's impossible," you mumbled looking down at your lap, playing with your phone by flipping it around.
"Yeah... you'll only be hurt in the end. Hints both strings attached'. He'll use you for his pleasure and he'll just leave you when you fall too deep for him."
You looked away from her with sad eyes and looked back towards the road.
"Yeah... maybe you're right."
