Chapter 2: Time-bomb
“Hey! L/N!” The voice was familiar, a girl she had a few classes with. They had carried a few conversations but nothing worth noting.
“Some friends and I are headed to the mall, wanna join?”
The h/c-ette/blonde looked at her for a moment, trying to figure out why she would be inviting her. She didn’t know her, they weren’t friends and had no reason to be. That’s why the gesture felt so underhanded.
"I have better things to do. Thank you for the invitation though." The e/c eyed girl tried to keep her tone polite.
The girl didn’t seem pleased with her answer, which was expected. But the irritation on her face was not. “Fine, have it your way.”
And just like that she left.
Encounters like those were the reason Y/n was now known as the Bitch of Seijoh. She didn’t do anything bitchy, though, just declined offers, but people just couldn’t understand that, she supposed.
There were already a fair number of people who would send dirty looks her way in the halls, some of which she had never spoken to. Irritably, the only person who seemed to give her the time of day now was Oikawa. Maybe it was out of pity or something stupid, but she didn’t think he realized silence was all she needed. Being shut up in her own little world was preferable to living in this one. That was something she learned over time.

After the school day was over Y/n decided now would be the best time to do something she had been putting off. Look around the school. At least some of it before she had practice.
After walking around for about 15 minutes, she found herself at the boys gym. The familiar sound of squeaking shoes and balls bouncing off the floor drew her in. It was like a moth to a flame. She peeked around the door, seeing a volleyball fly. As much as she wanted to turn around and run, she stayed there and continued to watch.
A few minutes of this she had already spotted Oikawa and Iwazumi, they were both good players. Something told her he would’ve loved to play against them. The sounds from the gym came to a stop, breaking Y/n out of the trans she found herself in.
She made eye contact with the setter, who waved warmly at her. “You aren’t half bad,” she commented.
"You make it sound like you can do better." He declared. At his comment she felt herself tense up.
"No way. I already told you, it's just a pastime. I just happen to have a sibling and a few friends that do it seriously." She shrugged.
"Oh come on I'm sure you'd do great if you really put your all info it. Why not give it a shot?" He stated. Oikawa felt the want to show her how much better she could do, maybe then she may find herself opening up over the mystery that is her.
"I'd really rather not." She said, forcing a smile and looking to the side.
"Oh come on. Just one serve."
"No thanks"
"Oh come on, just one."
Her irritation from the first comment had been continuously growing. She wanted him to shut up, she needed some quiet or she’d blow a fuse just like she always did when people pushed her too far.
"JUST SHUT THE HELL UP OIKAWA! I DON'T FUCKING WANT TO DO IT! WHY CAN'T YOU JUST ACCEPT THAT? BUT NO, YOU HAVE TO KEEP PRYING INTO MY PERSONAL LIFE! HAVEN'T YOU NOTICED I'M FINE BEING THE BITCH OF THE SCHOOL? WHY, BECAUSE PEOPLE LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!" She yelled, drawing the attention of some of his teammates.
She then took a deep breath to calm herself before she spoke again. "I didn't come here to make friends. I'm just here for school and to pass some time. Then, when I graduate, I'm leaving this shitty town, and the country in fact. I'm leaving everyone and everything behind and getting on with my life. Starting new. So can you please leave me alone and let me do that quietly." She sighed. She then picked up her bag and walked out. What she didn’t notice was she had said too much and had left Oikawa more curious than ever.
Everyone was quiet, surprised that the usually silent and reserved girl had a temper like that. Iwaizumi broke the silence by hitting Oikawa over the head. "Nice going Shittykawa. Now she hates you even more. You need to learn to stop prying into other peoples' lives. Focus on your own." He said, turning to help take down the net.

Y/n walked into her house and huffed as she threw herself on the large sofa.
Her best friend then came around the corner with one meat bun in his hand and one in his mouth. He smiled, his amber eyes lit up at the sight of her.
"Oya oya oya. Rough day at work?" He chuckled, handing her a meat bun as he took a seat beside her.
"Thank you." She said, taking a bite. Her bite being a harsh one, showing her already known irritation.
"Bokuto you have no idea. I thought this year would be better, but no. Why, because there's one person that won't stay out of my damn business You know, I can't stand people like that." She growled as she sprawled herself out on the couch. One s/c colored arm slung over her eyes and the other touching the floor.
"And what's their name?" He asked with a small chuckle.
"Oikawa Tooru." She growled.
Bokuto then busted out laughing. He laughed so hard he fell off the sofa. Once he collected himself he sat back on the furniture. "Of all the people, you have to attract one of the most nosey people at Seijoh." He laughed.
"Yeah yeah, laugh at my struggles. Keep doing it and you'll wake up with your hair looking like Taketora or Tamahiko's." She glared.
Bokuto only rolled his eyes. "You don’t have the balls to do that." He smirked.
"We’ll see." She smiled mischievously, reaching over to ruffle his hair.
The next day Bokuto ended up going to school with bright pink and electric green hair.
