I'm calling you now

@ sour.kenji IS CALLING

"Hey there lover bird." Kenji said quietly as he fumbled with the phone in his hands.

"Don't call me that." You stifled out your words with a laugh.

"Got it. So, how was your day?" He said into the phone, just from the sound of his voice it was obvious he was smiling.

"God, so was good."

"Mine too. I was excited to talk to you." He said as he laid down onto his bed.

"What for?" You questioned him playfully as a laugh escaped your lips.

"Uh-" Futakuchi paused as a million thoughts of you, the girl he'd just met, ran through his head. He wanted to say something romantic. Something that would leave you speechless and blushing. In his clouded thoughts he heard you speak again.

"You still there?"

"Oh, yeah, sorry about that." Futakuchi said as he pulled himself out of his thoughts.

"You seem distracted." You spoke with a curious tone and hint of a smile.

"Oh yeah, it's just my mom needs me for something." He spoke nervously trying to think of something to tell you.

"Oh. You should probably go ahead then." You said disappointedly.

"Yeah, sorry." He said and pulled the phone a little farther from his ear.

"I'll talk to you some other time." You said hopefully.

"Yeah, you definitely will." He said with a smile.

"Wow, you sound desperate."

"I could never." He said with a smirk.

"Yeah right," you spoke as he could tell, even from over the phone you rolled your eyes. "You better go, don't keep your mom waiting."

"Oh yeah, bye." He said awkwardly with realization.

"Bye-bye Futakuchi." He heard you say into the phone right before you hung up.

"God dammit." He mumbled as he sat up in his bed. He rubbed his eyes with his hand and tossed his phone to the side with his other.

"I had her on the phone with me and I had to make some lame excuse to avoid her question." He mumbled, obviously upset with himself.

He glanced at his clock to see the time a little past nine. He tossed his shirt to the side after taking it off and laid back down. He had early practice, and as much as he wanted to do something productive. Or maybe even just stay awake thinking of you, he couldn't.

He closed his eyes and thought of if you were even bothered by him leaving.

'Why do I care?'

He thought to himself over and over again. He sighed and let himself slowly be carried to sleep, only first to think more and more of you.
