The Weasley's and The Ravenclaw

The Poisoned Drink

Despite the inescapable doom looming over Lyra, life seemed to go back to normal. Well, not normal, nothing was normal since the Gryffindor's came into her life, especially the twins. But what was becoming her new normal.

Anytime the fear came, the boys were quick to distract her. Georges tactic was to make her laugh, Freds was to annoy her to the point she became violent.

The good news was today was a normal quiet day, and Lyra Stone was about to uncharacteristically disrupt it.

Everything had been brilliantly planned. Hermione was to get Fred away from his brother and Lee giving Lyra a chance to talk to them. The minute he was away from the table Lyra silently slid across from Lee and George. They looked up at her questioningly.

She blushed "Listen, I don't have a lot of time." She took out a small bottle with a pink liquid in it and held it out to them, "I need one of you two to slip this to Fred."

"You two have definitely been a bad influence on her," Lee said shaking his head.

George smirked, taking the bottle from her "I think it's hot."

She blushed again feeling her confidence ebbing away. "Of course you would, you sicko," Lee said with a smirk.

Fred was starting to walk back over, "I've got to run." she whispered "Thanks, guys."

"I'm not apart of this!" Lee whisper yelled.

It wasn't until much later that day that Lyra got to reap the reward of her hard work. She was in the Library with Hermione studying for her upcoming tests when the doors to the library were opened and someone quietly slunk in.

It wouldn't have been something she would have usually noticed, but she was so subconsciously in tune with him by now that she had looked up for him before the doors had even opened.

George Weasley slinked along the bookshelves and crouched down between the two girls. Lyra looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"We may be in some trouble," he said with a wicked grin.

Hermione shut her book looking at the two accusatory. "What are you up to now?"

"Me?" George said offended "This is Lyras doing, I was just a helpless pawn in her evil plan."

Hermione wasn't buying it.

"Does that mean you got Fred to drink it?" Lyra asked quickly pulling out a scroll and pen.

"Yup."

"How'd you do it?"

George went to answer, but before he could the library doors slammed open. A very disheveled Lee entered. He spotted Lyra and George and made a beeline for their table.

"I fake spiked Freds drink in front of him, he switched it out for Lee's, who's drink was actually spiked," George said with a wicked grin.

"That's brilliant," Lyra whispered back.

"Brilliantly evil," Hermione whispered back.

Lee dove behind the table. "What the hell did you give to Fred?" He whisper-yelled.

"Why?" Lyra asked pen at the ready "What did he do?"

"He attacked me!" Lee yelled, getting a nasty look from the librarian.

George snorted "Well more like he confessed his undying love, and then attacked you."

Lyra scribbled this down. " Maybe I let it ferment for too long?"

"What did you give him?" Lee asked, "He tried to snog me Lyra!"

"I'm sorry Lee," she said trying to keep the smile off her face. "I didn't know the reaction would be so strong. I gave him a small dose of the love potion I've been working on for the twins."

"Why is he after me though?!"

"Thats something I'm wondering about too. Did you drink out of your cup before he took it?"

"What?! I don't know."

She looked over at George. "We'll have to do further tests in the future. More controlled ones."

He smiled at her, and he wished that they were alone so he could have kissed her. "Sounds good"

She blushed, clearing her throat and turning back to Lee. She reached into her pocket and placed another two small bottles on the table. "Give these to Fred and he should go back to normal."

"How the hell am I going to get Fred to drink these?!"

"Tell him you made them with Love?"

Hermione snorted and George slumped over in silent giggles. Lee looked at her hopelessly.

"Well, Lyra you could always jinx him and then Lee and I can force the bottles down his throat."

Lyra looked at him horrified. "Absolutely not."

"It would be a great way to practice." He said evilly.

"You could jinx him and then Lee could pour it down his throat."

"But then how will you practice?" he asked pouting.

"I know enough that I'll be fine."

"Thats not what Mad-Eye says."

She looked at him horrified "You and Moody talk?"

"Not usually." George admitted, "But he wanted to know how you were doing, said he ran into you on the second task and you seemed off."

Hermione's and Lee's attention peaked as they both felt Lyra's mood shift to discomfort and fear. "What did you tell him?"

George looked at her confused and worried now "Nothing really," he reached out and gently touched her hand "Why? Are there things I shouldn't be telling Moody?"

Lyra pulled away, wrapping her arms around herself. "I just, I don't trust Moody."

They all smiled at her indulgently "Look Lyra, I know he's a little weird but that doesn't mean he's untrustworthy."

Hermione nodded "I'd agree his teaching methods are a little unorthodox, but most of the stuff about him is just rubish. If Dumbledore trusts him then-"

"I don't trust Dumbledore either."

They all looked at her open-mouthed. "Lyra, now I don't mean to laugh, but what do you mean you don't trust Dumbledore?"

She was silent for a moment, frustrated that she couldn't make them understand. "It's different," she started slowly. " I can feel Moody, his secrets, his distrust, and his pain. At first, I just assumed it was because he used to be an Auror. But, it's not that. There's something inside him thats just bad."

They looked at her unconvinced, but she pressed on. "And Dumbledore, I can't feel him at all. Even when he's showing emotion, conveying a feeling, it's not really there. How can I trust someone I can't read?"

"But Lyra, people do that every day," Hermione said softly, trying desperately to comfort her friend.

"There is good in every person who does bad, and bad in every person who does good. But Dumbledore has neither, so as much as you all may defend him, I cannot tell if he is truly good."

"Thats fine," George said. Forcing a smile to his lips.

"But-" Hermione began, but was cut off by George.

He reached up and touched Lyras cheek. "Let's go get Fred yeah? He's probably torn half the castle apart looking for Lee."

She smiled back "Alright."

He quickly swept up her things. Slinging her bag over his shoulder letting Lyra go ahead of him.

Hermione watched them go, completely perplexed. "You know, I never knew George could be so sweet."

Lee snorted "dont let him or Fred hear you say that. But I get what you mean. Never thought I'd see him with a girl like that. A bit off isn't she?"

Hermione swallowed her annoyance. "Lyra's just got a lot on her plate lately."

By the time they found Fred he was a right mess. The potion had mostly worn off, Lyra assumed because he had tired himself out searching everywhere for Lee. She gave him one of the bottles and reality seemed to snap back in place for him.

"Lyra." He said quietly "did you drug me?"

She smiled "I warned you I would."

He glared up at her horrified "If I wasn't so bloody impressed, I'd be angry."

George laughed and she reached out a hand to Fred in order to help him up. He took it, but pulled her to the floor with a thud.

"Ow!" She yelled rubbing her head and sitting up next to him. "I suppose I deserve that."

"Oi!" George scolded "dont be bruising my girlfriend."

Lyras' stomach twisted. Did he just say, girlfriend?!

"I'd hex her if she wasn't a girl." She tried to elbow him but he easily leaned back out of the way causing her to almost fall again. "and if she wasn't already so clumsy."

"I'm not clumsy." She mumbled leaning back against the hallway wall.

George slid down next to her "you are a bit dear."

"Never mind all that, so how did it work?" Fred asked excitedly.

"You dont remember?" She asked.

He frowned. "Bits."

"We'll have to make some major adjustments. It's far too strong and the effects dont last nearly as long as they should."

"Rats." He sighed, and then jumped up. "Welp might as well get started."

She shook her head with a smile, he sure recovered quickly.
