Dear Life

(y/n) - your name

“What about work?”

“You might need to come in for meetings, but other than that, I’ll send you all the documents that you need to work on through email.”

“And I can call you to inform you about your schedule.” Kris nods.

“Do you need any help? Do you need anything?” I shake my head.

“I’ll go shopping once he wakes up. Jackson can look after him in the meantime. But thank you.”

“No problem (y/n). I’m here ok. I can look after him as well.” Kris chuckles and I raise a brow at him.

“With the amount of work you have? Not a chance.” Kris pouts and nods. Suddenly, Kris’ phone started ringing and we both jumped in shock. “Turn it off!” I whisper yelled at him seeing Jungkook stirring awake.

“I’m trying!” Kris responded back and I kick him out of the room. As soon as I close the door, I hear the loud wailing of kookie.

“Damn you Kris! It takes a while to put him to sleep!”

“I’m sorry!” Kris whispers before walking out the house, picking up the call. I wave goodbye and close the front door, running back upstairs.

“Kookie?” I open the door and see Jungkook sitting up and crying. His eyes were red, his cheeks puffy as he reached his arms out for me. “I’m sorry.” I pick up Jungkook and he hugs me, crying on my shoulder. I rub his back and bounce him slightly in my arms. “Are you hungry?” Jungkook stops crying, sniffling slightly. I feel him nod against my neck. “Ok.” I kiss his forehead and walk down to the living room where the tv was still on. I was about to put him down on the carpet but Jungkook was clinging on to me. “Kookie. I need to put you down.” I softly mumbled and he shook his head, tightening his grip on the back of my shirt. I sigh out and carry Jungkook to the kitchen. I shift him so I’m holding him comfortably on my hip. Jungkook sucks on his thumb as he watches me take out a box of dinosaur nuggets from the freezer.

Hey, don’t judge.

I preheat the oven and place the nuggets on the tray. I put them in the oven and put the timer on. I look down at Jungkook who was staring at something on the counter. I followed his stare and chuckled. Baby carrots. He had his arms out and was leaning forward but I quickly caught him. “Careful Jungkook.” Jungkook struggled in my arms and I lift him up to my face. “Stop moving Jungkook. It’s hard to hold you.” I raise a brow, smiling at him as he just pouts at me. He points to the carrots, his feet kicking me. “Ok. Jeez. I’ll get you your carrots.” I went to grab the bag, opening it and passing a small piece to Jungkook. Jungkook takes it in his hand and chews down on it. I chuckle at his chubby cheeks and hands. “You are so cute!” Jungkook finished the carrot and pointed to the bag.

Was that? He spoke! He said his second word! But such a demanding little bunny.

“Ok. Ok. Hold back your munchies.” I chuckle as a get a small bowl and fill them up with the carrots. Jungkook leans down and grabs a handful, munching on them loudly. After a while, the oven dings and I place the bowl on the kitchen table. “I’m going to put you down ok.” Jungkook nods happily and I place him down on the chair as I take out the nuggets. My phone suddenly rings and I place the tray down on the counter.

“What is it Jackson?”

“I’m outside. Open up!”

“Wait, why?” Curious, I end the call and go to open the front door. “What brings you here?” Jackson walks past me, moving his head around as if he was trying to find something.

“What? Can’t I visit my best friend?” He turns to me with a big grin and I glare at him, a hand on my hip.

“Kris called me. You got a kid?” Jackson raises a brow at me. I sigh out in annoyance, pinching the bridge of my nose.

Kris and his big goddamn mouth.

“Mama!” You whip my head towards the sound and run to the kitchen with Jackson hot on my heels. Jungkook was pouting at the floor that was covered with baby carrots. He points to them, his eyes glazing over with tears.

“No. Shhh. It’s ok.” I pick up Jungkook, trying to calm him down.

“Sowwy.” Jungkook sniffles.

Why are you so cute!

“Kookie. It’s ok.” I smile at him but he looks at the carrots in guilt.

You innocent child.

“OH. MY. GOD!” Jackson gapes at Jungkook, his eyes wide. Jungkook looks at Jackson and cocks his head to the side.

Thank god he didn’t cry. “Why is this fetus so adorable!?” Jungkook blinks at him. His eyes widen when his tiny tummy gurgles.

Poor kid is still hungry.

“Kookie. Do you want nuggets?” Jungkook looks at me with a wide grin, his bunny teeth in full view.

“Yesh!” Jungkook nods his head vigorously and I chuckle.

“Only if you share.” I poke Jungkooks nose and he looks up at me, as if contemplating this offer. He shakes his head yes once more and I grin, placing him down carefully on the table before handing him a plate of those nuggets. I take one and pop it in my mouth before turning to Jackson who was in awe of how adorable Jungkook was. “Jackson?” I snap my fingers but no reaction. Lifting my hand, I smack him across the face.

“OW! What you do that for!?” Jackson frowns at me, rubbing his cheek and I laugh at him.

“Relax you baby. I didn’t hit you that hard.”

“You have no idea how much your hits hurt, even if it was a simple pat. Those hands are too strong!”

“Ok jeez! I get it!” I raise my hands up in defeat. “I have a favour to ask you.” Jackson looks at me, a brow raised.

“What is it?”

“Can you look after Kookie. I’ll be gone to buy some stuff for him.”

“YES! I would love to!” Jackson bounces up and down in excitement.

I think I’m going to regret a child babysitting a child.

“Are you sure?”

“I’ll be fine! Plus, Jungkook loves me!”

“Jungkook doesn’t love me!” I quickly take the phone away from my ear, hearing Jackson screech in my ear mixed with loud wails.

I leave them for barely 2 hours. I knew I couldn’t trust that kid to look after a child!

“Hold up Jackson!” I quickly wheeled all the stuff to Jackson’s car, opening the boot and trying to stuff everything inside. I had bought a baby car seat, food and cleaning supplies. I couldn’t fit the baby seat in the boot so I slammed it shut and chucked the seat in the back of the car.

“(Y/N)! Jungkook won’t stop crying!” I put the phone on speaker and started the engine, quickly putting my seatbelt on.

“Have you tried rocking him!?”

“YES! I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING!” I hear Jungkook wail louder and I let out a sigh.

“Keep trying, I still need to buy more stuff-”

“He wants you to come back!” Jackson cries out and I wince.

“Ok, I’m coming back home! I’ll be there in 20 minutes.”

“Come home faster!” I end the call and put my foot to the pedal, driving off.
