“Welcome to Norman Oklahoma.” That’s the first sign I always see when I’m driving into my little home town. The town where there’s literally nothing to do and everyone knows everyone. Especially my brother Owen and I. Him and I have a vlogging channel together we started because we got bored one day. Then he got an acting gig and had to move out to LA for a little bit so I took the vlogging over and it’s pretty much my channel now. Though I most of the stuff I post about I wouldn’t think its that good, but a lot of people seem to enjoy it. I try and keep it interesting, but there’s only so much you can do in Oklahoma let’s be real. So I create new challenges and do a little bit of dancing and the occasional singing to keep my “fans” entertained.
Once I got home I went into the kitchen to see what we had so I could make something to eat. I thought I was home alone when I heard someone in the living room.
“what’s up Sis!” Owen came out of know where and scared the shit out of me.
“Dude what the fuck! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?” I say holding my chest and trying to calm myself down.
“No I was just trying to surprise you! I’m back home for a couple weeks!” Owen says.
“That’s awesome! Why only a couple of weeks? Mom told me that your show got canceled so you were coming back for good, but a week from now. Sorry your show got canceled by the way.”
“It’s all good. All good things must come to an end I guess, but I have some pretty exciting news!” he says
“Well are you going to tell me or am I just going to keep standing here like an idiot til you do.” I laugh folding my arms across my chest.
“Well when I was in LA my manager reached out to me about this new tv show that’s going to be coming out on Netflix and wanted me to audition for one of the roles. So I sent in my audition tape and got the role of Alex, the drummer who turns into a ghost from eating a bad hotdog.”
“Oh wow! That’s awesome. Looks like your drumming skills actually came in handy bro!” I say excitedly for him. He’s always wanted to pursue acting ever since I can remember. He isn’t that much older than me. He’s only a year older than me and he never lets me live it down.
“Yeah I know! I have to do this band camp in Canada and were also shooting there so i’ll be there for at least six months or longer.”
“So wait are you guys gonna be in an actual band? Or is it just something for the show?” I ask him curiously.
“I think they’re trying to make us into a real band. Which I think is pretty rad. You know how I’ve always wanted to be in a real band Shell.”
“You know I hate when you call me that. We’re not five anymore call me Michelle like everyone else.” I state rolling my eyes and head back into the kitchen to go on the search for some food. Owens follows me into the kitchen and sits on the counter top.
“You know I’m not like everyone else. I’m your older brother so I get to call you whatever I want.” He says matter of fact like.
“Whatever Owen. Are you hungry? I can make us something to eat if you are.” I ask Owen while searching the fridge.
“Yeah you know I’m always down to eat.” Such a guy I think to myself.
The only things I found in the fridge that I could make were chicken, broccoli and some rice. So I had the genius idea to make some chicken stir fry. I’m actually pretty good cook. It’s one of my many passions I guess you could say. Owen went back into the living room and started watching something on the tv and I made us some food.
“OWEN! The foods done come eat!” I yell loud enough so that he can hear me.
He came into the kitchen and I told him that he can he get his own food while I sit at the table. We catch up on what been going on in each other lives. We didn’t get a chance to talk much because he was always so busy working and with the time difference it would get complicated, but we still talked when we could.
“Oh my God Shell, this stuff is really good! One thing I definitely missed was your cooking. I literally lived on delivery food every day unless I was on set.” He says while taking another bite of food.
“Well I’m glad you like it. I don’t know when mom and dad are gonna be home. You know them they’re always somewhere.” I tell Owen while taking my plate into the kitchen and putting it in the dish washer. After I clean up my dishes I head up to my room to work on editing some of my videos to put up on Youtube.
I was staring at my computer screen for what felt like forever when I hear a knock on my door.
“Come in” I say still staring at computer screen.
“Whatcha up to sis?” Owen asks as he makes himself at home in my room and lays on my bed.
“Just finishing up editing a video so I can put it up tomorrow. Whatcha want?”
“Oh nothing, just wanted to see if you wanted to move with me to Canada with me and hang out with me while on set?”
I literally stopped what I was doing and look at him like he’s crazy.
“Did I just hear your correctly. You want me to go with you to...Canada?” I saw slowly making sure I heard him right.
“yep you heard correctly. Come to Canada with me! It’s not like you have anything better to do.” He states simply.
He does have a point. I don’t really have anything tying me here. Looks like I’m going to Canada.
