The American

Ginny, Luna and I departed from the train, and climbed into a carriage together which would lead us to the school. Once we arrived, I stepped off the carriage and took in the view. This is my new home away from home. I took in a deep breath, and proceeded to follow the girls inside.

We walked into the castle that was just like Ilvermorny, but different. Everything was so medieval, I loved it. I had grown so accustomed to living like a no-maj-muggle like my mom that when going back to school, it was nice to get away from all of the electricity, and be in place that basically runs on magic.

“We’ll see you after your sorting, Laurel. Hopefully you’ll be in Ravenclaw.” Luna said. “Please, Luna, she’ll be in Gryffindor.” Ginny teased. But I think the pair knew I wouldn’t be in either house.

I walked into the dining hall and was greeted with a tall woman in a crooked witches hat. “Hello dear. You must be our transfer from Ilvermorny.” She said. I nodded with a fake smile on my face. “Come along and we’ll get you sorted.” She said leading me up to the front for me to sit on a chair. The dining hall was still pretty empty, so she hurried to do this before they all arrived.

She placed the hat on my head and it yelled, causing me to jump. “This is going to be particularly easy, Ms. Nott.” said the hat. My eyes widened in fear, as well as did some of the other students that walked by that heard the hat refer to me as “Nott.”

“I’ll just get this over with. Slytherin!” The hat shouted. The tall woman took the hat off of my head and walked me over to the where the Slytherin students were to sit. It was beginning to fill up, so I sat in an empty spot.

“Who do you think you are?” I heard a girls voice yell. I turned my gaze to see this tall, pudgy, pug faced girl scowling at me. “Laurel Jennings. And you are?” I asked.

“Don’t fucking worry about it. Stay away from Theo. He’s Daphne’s boyfriend.” Theo had a girlfriend? Good for him? “Oh, I don’t want Theo, I have a boyfriend back home.” She laughed. “What? Some muggle? Filthy blood traitor is what you are.”

“Pansy, leave her alone.” I heard a boys voice speak. I looked up to see the blonde haired boy from the train glaring at the pug-faced girl. I looked back to her. “You heard him. Leave me alone.” I said. She scoffed and walked away. “Thanks.” I said.

“Don’t. I didn’t do it for you. I was just tired of hearing her voice.” He spat before turning his attention back to his friends.

Not long after the headmaster made his speech welcoming students back, a big feast appeared in front of us. I just sat there quietly, slowly picking at food. My nerves had kicked in, and I couldn’t find it within me to eat.

“Ms. Nott.” A manly, brooding voice said from behind me. I turned around to see a tall man, dressed in all black, with greasy black hair and abnormally large nose glaring at me. “Jennings.” I corrected him. He rolled his eyes. “This is your schedule for the remainder of the year. Ms. Parkinson and Mr. Malfoy are in charge of escorting assisting you tonight and tomorrow.” He said just before walking away.

I turned to the girl next to me, she looked rather gross, but that didn’t matter. “Who are Ms. Parkinson and Mr. Malfoy?” I asked. She turned to me and laughed and pointed to the blonde haired boy and the dark haired, pug-faced girl who was all over him. “Lovely.” I replied.

After dinner, I followed everyone else to the Slytherin Dungeons. A place where I’d be sleeping mainly. I walked into the common room, and it was nothing like Thunderbird. It was gloomy, but beautiful. I didn’t know where to go, so I just sat there on the couch, and waited. I felt so out of place.

“What are you doing?” I heard someone say. “Go to your room.”

It was Theo.

“I don’t know where that is.” I said. He rolled his eyes. “Parkinson.” He called out.

“What!” She shouted.

“You’d think as prefects, you and Malfoy would be more on top of your duties. We have a new student here, escort her to her room.” He said.

“You’ve gone mad if you think I’m going to help this little homewrecker out.” She spat in disgust. “I’m not fucking her, Parkinson. She’s a family friend.” She released the scowl from her face, and climbed off of her boyfriend, Malfoy’s, lap and walked over to us. “Fine. Let’s go.” She said and I followed her.

“My boyfriend isn’t a no-m, I mean muggle by the way.” I randomly blurted out. She turned to me with raised eyebrows. “I didn’t ask. This is your room. You’ll be sharing with Astoria, seeing she’s the only other girl in your year. Have fun.” She said before walking off. “Draco, meet me in my room in ten?” I heard her say in the distance as she walked further away.

I stepped in the room to see all of my belongings placed alongside a full sized bed. Since it was me and one other girl, there was room for bigger beds, which I didn’t mind. At Ilvermorny, our beds were twin bunks, and I shared a room with eight other girls. Too many girls, too much drama.

I approached the bed with my things placed on it, and dug out a pair of pajamas. They weren’t anything fancy, just black shorts, and a grey Thunderbird t-shirt.

“You’re just asking to be bullied if you wear that stuff.” A girls voice spoke. “You must be Astoria.” I said to the girl.

“You would be correct. You talk funny. I don’t like it. Change your accent. ” She demanded. I’m starting to understand why other students feared Slytherin students. They were awfully rude. “No?” I said. She rolled her eyes then walked into the bathroom with some green pajamas in her hand, only to return moments later.

“Are you a lesbian?” She blurted out, catching me off guard.

“Excuse me?!” I shouted. Not that it would matter if I were in all honesty, but who is she just to ask me that?

“Do. I. Need. To. Speak. Slower?”

“No, and no. I have a boyfriend.” I inform her. “Then don’t stare at me. You’re making me uncomfortable. Like you’re undressing me with your eyes.”

“I barely fucking looked at you, and since we’re being blunt, what guy would want you? You’re a bitch. Just like every other girl in this house I’ve met.”

She gasped.

“You’re going to regret that.” She said before storming out of the room. Probably went to tell the pug girl that I called her a bitch. I’ll be kicked out of this school by the end of the week, I can feel it now.

The following morning, I got up and got ready for my first day at school. I was nervous to say the least. I had defense against the dark arts first. I loved dueling, I was quite good at it. Was even apart of the dueling club at Ilvermorny, but sadly, Hogwarts doesn’t have one.

I finished getting ready and left the room without bothering my awesome new roommate, and went to the dining hall which I recently learned was called the Great Hall. One of the books Nana gave me was Hogwarts: A History, and I spent a decent amount of time reading it last night.

I walked into the Great Hall to see all of the early risers sitting at their tables enjoying breakfast, reading books, chatting with their friends. I walked over to an empty spot at the Slytherin table, suddenly feeling a little hungry and grabbed a piece of toast, and some scrambled eggs for my plate.

“Hope you won’t be too long.” Someone said. I looked up to the person. It was the blonde Malfoy boy.

“Hmm?” I said while chewing up a piece of toast. “Pansy refuses to help you find your classes today, which leaves me to do it. So hurry up.”

“Aren’t you going to eat?” I asked as I swallowed. “Not hungry.” He said as he sat there, watching me eat. I began to feel uncomfortable, so I took a drink of water, and pushed my food away. “Alright then, let’s go.” I said standing up.

He lead me into a room that was filled with stairs, moving ones. It was quite unique. “What do you have first?”

“Defense Against The Dark Arts.” I said. He laughed, though I’m not exactly sure why. He lead me up the stairs until we reached the third floor where the classroom is. “Professor Umbridge will be your teacher. Don’t piss her off.” He said sternly. I nodded and I started walking in when he grabbed my wrist.

“I mean it. Do not upset her.” He warned. “Okay, I won’t.” I said before stepping into the classroom.

She was pretty, stunning actually. Far prettier than Pansy, but something gives me the impression that she’s a bad idea. That I shouldn’t get mixed up with her, but I don’t know why. I, like Pansy and Daphne, suspect that there’s something between her and Nott, though neither of them will own up to it. Why would they though? She’s new, and Nott is Nott.

Stop it, Draco. You don’t care.

I walked away from her, leaving her in the hands of that awful woman, Umbitch, hoping she’d take my advice, and not say something that’ll earn her a detention. I don’t know how she’d handle it, and I don’t know if I want to know how she’d handle it. Would she cry like a baby for it? Or would she just pretend it never happened.

I can’t stop myself from wondering about her. From wanting to learn more about her.

Who is Laurel? And Why did I overhear Professor Snape call her “Ms. Nott”?

A/N HEY GUYS! So, if you’re still reading, thank you so much. I’m really trying to make this book different from all of the other Draco Fanfics I’ve read, and trust me, I’ve damn near read them all, but I haven’t found out that is about an American girl yet, though I’m sure there’s one out there.

Please keep in mind that for the time being, sex scenes will not be fully into detail, though they will be later on.

These first three chapters were just an introduction sort of, so the next chapters are going to start revealing some good stuff. Mainly with the Quidditch team(Spoiler?)

These first three chapters took me nearly six hours to write. ( I’ve been busy with my own personal life )

I’m going to try my very hardest to update daily, but no promises as it might be every other day, or every two days, but the chapters will be between 1500, and 3000 words.

Anyways, hope you enjoy! Don’t forget to vote!
