I don’t live far from the public library here in Beacon Hills. Before it was shut down due to the lack of people coming, I used to come all the time and read every book I could get my hands on. It’s been a while since I came here and I felt myself getting serotonin as I pushed open the front doors.

“You’re late,” Liam observed as I turned the lights on. I didn’t bother asking how he unlocked the door without causing any damage.

“I have a nosy sibling.”

“Excuses, excuses,” he replied.

There were still books on the shelves but most of them were old and worn out. There was a corner where beanbags and pillows laid, sitting and getting old with no purpose.

“I borrowed a couple of laptops from the school. I figured Satomi didn’t have any,” he said, handing me one.

I figured Brett had told Liam about Satomi the last they saw each other. Devenford and Beacon Hills High were playing each other and those assassins, Violet and Garrett, tried to kill me, my brother, and Lori.

“You okay?” Liam asked as he saw my expression. “Not that I care or anything.”

“Fine. I’m just fine,” I grumbled as I read through the packet. We had to create 5 slides about recessive and dominant genes. I created the slideshow and shared it with Liam.

We worked in silence for a good 10 minutes but he just had to ruin it.

“Um,” he cleared his throat and I looked up from my laptop. “I need some help.”

“I gave you the easiest amount of workload to do. It’s not my fault if you’re just plain stupid,” I said, flatly.

He looked offended but shook his head. “It’s not that- it’s about the werewolf thing.”

“Go on.”

“You know how you were born one and how I was bitten?” he asked as he fingered his pen. I kept my eyes on that instead of maintaining eye contact.

“Do you have trouble controlling yourself when you transform?” I asked, getting the idea because he was taking too long and we need to get this shit done before Brett realized I was missing.

“Yeah,” he said with surprise.

“Don’t act so surprised. I’ve been asked this question too many times,” I stopped typing and looked at him again. “You need an... anchor.”

“Scott told me but I can’t find one,” he clenched his jaw showing his veins popping out on the side of his neck.

“I’ve tried that- doesn’t work,” I pointed out and he unclenched.

“Do I need like... a person?” he asked.

“Sometimes. You could use your family- that’s mine,” I replied with a shrug.

This is too personal to talk about with my enemy. He’s better off talking about it with his alpha, Scott McCall.

“Look,” I said before he asked anything else. “Talk about this anchor shit with Scott.”

“I tried- he gets all teary-eyed and Stiles always mentions some girl called Allison,” he waved it off. I watched him flip a pen in the air and catch it before answering.

“Why don’t you use your family?” I suggested.

“Not that easy,” Liam mumbled back.

I sighed softly before continuing back to our project. Liam barely did anything and I did not plan on getting a late grade.

“Done,” I sighed and hit the submit button. “Our project’s done and submitted,” I said to Liam who was snoring softly. We had moved to the corner where the beanbags were to get more comfortable.

I reached over to thwack him on the forehead but he grabbed my wrist before I could. “Too slow,” he opened his eyes.

“I wasn’t going to do anything,” I lied and tried to pull away but Liam’s grip didn’t loosen.

“Liam,” I tried to get his attention but his eyes were glued to the back door. That door remained shut at all time- even when the library was open.

I strained my hearing to find out if he heard something. I looked back at Liam to see his eyes glowing.

“Liam,” I said again and instead of him going back to normal, he started growling at me.

Note to self- don’t wake up Liam Dunbar if he’s sleeping.

I saw Brett do this to another werewolf who was losing his cool at school. He was also Brett’s bi-awakening but that’s a different story.

I pulled Liam in and before he grew fangs, I kissed him.

He froze for a slight second but kissed me back. I pulled back slightly but Liam pulled me closer and kissed me harder. I put both my hands around his neck and moved to his lap. His hands traveled down my waist and they gently moved to my ass.

Our tongues met but before we could go any further, the back door was slammed open.

I didn’t want to turn around but I did anyway.

Brett was standing a few yards away from me, fuming. If this was a cartoon, he would have smoke coming out of his ears. His fists were balled up and his eyes were glowing but he controlled himself.

“Brett-” I stood up and stuttered like crazy.

This was like one of the teenage romance movies Lori played in the middle of the night when we couldn’t go to sleep and needed a distraction.

“SINCE WHEN WAS THIS A THING?” Brett fumed, glaring daggers- no claws at Liam. Liam glared right back at him but didn’t say anything so I spoke instead.

Bad move.

“Boys- calm down-”

“Shut up, Amelia,” they snapped at me and continued their little glaring contest.

I crossed my arms in annoyance and studied a George Washington biography instead.

“Finished yet?” I asked after a few minutes.

“Almost,” Brett answered.

“Ha! You blinked,” Brett pointed at Liam and turned back to me. “Anyway... WHEN WAS THIS A-”

“Since never,” I assured him. I don’t even know what it was and I don’t want to know.

“Since today and if you have a problem with it, talk to my ass.” Liam spat at the same time.

“What?” I looked at him in shock.

“Do you want to be my girlfriend?” Liam looked at me.

“No-” I started.

“Excellent- I’ll see you at school tomorrow,” he said, walking out the front door.

“So... I guess we’re a thing now...” I shrugged, looking at Brett.

“If he even thinks about hurting you... I’ll make sure he won’t be able to fucking heal,” Brett said sternly, cracking his knuckles.

I chuckled and side-hugged him.

“Do you like him?” Brett asked once we let go.

“Yeah....” I said, awkwardly.

“If I walk in on something like that next time-”

“I got it,” I nodded, “Liam won’t be able to heal.”

“And you,” Brett pointed out and I shot him a confused look.

He chuckled as he ruffled my hair. “Takes 2 to tango.”
