From that day
forward Hadrian Potter and Maleficent were inseparable. They got to know each other and talked about anything they could. The fae of the two explained her kind to him and answered any questions in detail leaving nothing out. She told him of the different kinds of fae from jungle to desert, and how they were driven out of their homes from wizard kind, forcing them to go into hiding. They bonded over being alone in the world, without a family, so they became one.
About a week before his eleventh birthday, he received his Hogwarts acceptance letter and naturally wanted to go to Diagon Alley with his best, and only, friend. So he set off to find her and tell her the news.
"Maleficent! Mal where the bloody hell are you!" He swore she said she would be by their tree near this time. Then again she may be on a fli-
"For what reason are you blowing out my eardrums Hadrian darling? Did you need something?"
There she is.
He looked up into the tree and gave her a lopsided grin, "Oh nothing love, just my Hogwarts letter, nothing special." That got her attention alright because she grinned at him and flew down to his level to talk.
"Harry that's wonderful! Let me read it."
When she handed the letter back to him, he asked, "So Mal, when should we go to Diagon Alley."
She thought for a moment before deciding on going the next day, because that was the day the orphanage workers did cleaning so the kids had to be else where.
Maleficent was a bit different from the normal Fae, not that she's really met many, for she was able to do magic. Being able to do the said magic meant she has access to glamor and concealment charms so she could walk around with wizard and muggle world freely. It wasn't often she left the forest behind the orphanage that housed her best and only friend Harry, she limited herself to flights and getting food only. So when Hadrian gets his letter that naturally means she needs to come with him to get his supplies and inheritance money.
She knew exactly how to find the entrance because she always went to the Leaky Cauldron for a bit of food from Tom, the nice barman. She knew he would be of help.
"Hello there Tom, how are you this fine, beautiful morning," she says with the shit eating grin reserved for when she wanted something. Knowing this, he gives her a look which turns to confusion when he sees she's not alone.
"Ah Miss. Lefay I was doing lovely till you came, now what can I do for you and this young gentleman?" Lefay was the fake last name she used because she didn't have one.
"My friend Harry needs to get his school supplies so I thought I would accompany him. Could you open the wall please?"
He agreed and they were off. Maleficent knew Harry was as excited as she was, but they both agreed a long time ago to put up a front. A mask. One that was stoic and vague so that no one would be able to get to them and they don't get hurt. She didn't realize she was in such deep thought until Harry nudged her saying they were here.
Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed,
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn.
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there.
As they walked in she felt it was only write to tell him the rules with the goblins.
"Now Harry, remember, proper greetings with goblins is formal and its best to just say, Merry meet master goblin, or what ever their name if you know it. Always be polite. Also when we leave, say may your gold overflow." That should do for now I guess.
"Ok so basically be formal and polite and when we leave, say may your gold overflow."
"Pretty much. Just try and let me do all the talking though."
They have now reached the main desk which help the name tag for Ragnok. He gave them a clear look of disinterest but then looks a bit curious toward the girl, as she had a different aura to her than the other wizards.
"Merry meet Master Ragnok, my name is Maleficent Lefay and my friend, Hadrian Potter, wishes to have a blood test, as he does not have his key." This earned a clear look of surprise which was quickly hidden from the two by the goblin.
"That would cost you a galleon then Mr. Potter." To which the boy replied with a nod of understanding. "Griphook was the Potters vault manager, so if you are who you say, it would be best you met with him. Follow me please."
They were led down to a hallway of offices for all the managers and stopped near the middle to a door with "Griphook" on the glass. Ragnok left after knocking for them and they heard a grunted "Enter" on the other side of the door.
It was Hadrian that felt a surge of enough confidence to speak with his once parents manager, "Merry meet Master Griphook. Master Ragnok told me you were my parents vaults manager and that you could provide me with a blood test." This earned another quick masked look of surprise.
"That is correct Mr. Potter. I assume he told you of the one galleon cost so we can skip the niceties and get to business." He paused to get a blood form in a filing cabinet and a small dagger, "Three drops on the signature line then Mr. Potter."
Once three drops had hit the page, they turned gold like the blood of a gods and formed his full name. Griphook then chanted the word Revelare, meaning reveal in Latin, and flipped over the page.
