Author POV
“Are you really leaving?”
Chaerin asked her boyfriend as she watched him pack a few things which were enough to take with him. Zipping the bag, he hung it on his shoulder neatly and looked over to her.
“Yeah, I have to leave now.” He muttered, walking out of the room while she trailed behind him.
“Jimin. I know it’s your responsibility because of your job but, today is our anniversary. Can’t you excuse for the day?” She muttered, holding on to his arm as she curved her lips into a pout. Heaving a sigh, Jimin turned around to her and bit on his bottom lip.
“I can’t, Babe,” He said, removing her hand from his arm.
He doesn’t know why she had been so stubborn even though she knew he won’t stop going for another mission. She wasn’t like that before and never being that much clingy either.
Turning on his heels, he walked to the door and opened the door. But before he could get out, she stopped him again by holding on to his back of the shirt.
“Just answer me one thing before you go, Jimin,” she muttered, wrapping her arms around his waist. “Do you love me?”
He let out a chuckle after hearing her question and turned to her, placing a peck on her nose.
“Of course, I do,” he said, stroking few strands of hair out of her face.
“You didn’t say it back like always. Why can’t you just say ‘I love you?’” she muttered, lowering her gaze.
That was the time when it hit him hard. It was obvious that he never said those three words to her even though they have been in a relationship for almost 3 years. He questioned himself about it many times but ended up with only one answer.
That was, his heart would not open to her since there was someone else buried deep inside of his heart whom he despises a lot. The one he wanted to forget.
“Hey, don’t worry. I will be back as soon as the mission ends,” he ignored her pleading eyes, closing the distance separating them as he brushed his lips on hers.
Butterflies caressed his abdomen as soon as she kissed him back, wrapping her arms around him loosely. Tilting his head, he deepened the kiss as he didn’t want to let her go. Indeed, he would miss her and those perfect, soft lips.
Slowly, he pulled away from her lips and attached his forehead with hers, panting. Caressing her cheeks, he pressed his lips on her small nose and backed away.
“Bye,” he muttered, turning around and walking out of the house. She didn’t stop him but, he heard her sobbing which was quite unbearable.
Heaving a shaky breath, he hopped into the military vehicle, closing the door quickly. Closing his eyes, he rested his head on the headrest while the driver started to drive.
Little did he don’t know that she was watching him going away, taking her phone which buzzed on her pocket. She put it near her ear, chewing the corner of her lips and wiping the fake tears.
