Chapter 5
Once the drapes were out of the way, Ten's view was filled with white. The room that he had entered was entirely white, from the walls to the furniter.
He heard a slight gasp and looked in the direction in which it came from. Standing there was the count's daughter. She was frozen where she stood, and just stared in his direction. He looked toward the desk behind her and saw a large stack of envelopes.
Damn. They sure do know how to waste paper.
She was still staring at him.
He took a step towards her.
"Look, I'm not here to hurt you. Believe me, if that were the case, you would be dead by now."
She seemed to break out of her daze and scowled.
"Young man, it seems that you don't think that I know how to defend myself. I would like to inform you that I have been specially trained for situations like these."
He laughed loudly.
She lunged towards him, catching him off guard. She placed her hands over his mouth and hissed.
"Shh, someone will hear you."
He slowly reached up and gently took her hands off of his face. He then gently brought one of them back up so that it was cupping his cheek. He held her hand there and they both stared at eachother in silence.
After a few seconds, she snatched her hand away, coughing awkwardly.
"Why did you come here?"
He smiled.
"I wanted to see you."
He had gone to see her?
With a lot of banter and a few close calls, they made it to the garden. They sat on a bench under one of the willows, so as to not be seen.
