ASL on the Moby Dick

BROTHERS DON'T KISS!

The rest of the day went smoothly. Luffy tended to stick to Ace, and Ace seemed to put his assasination attempts at hold.

They kept their distance from the pirates but Luffy would occasionally participate in conservations.

“AH! I TOTALLY FORGOT!!” Luffy yelled.

“What did you forget?” Ace asked. But Luffy wasn’t listening.

“Jiji’s gonna be worried! He’s gonna be angry! He’s gonna be sad!” Luffy ran to Marco.

“Pineapple-san! Can I borrow a den-den mushi? Please?” Luffy stared at Marco with big, watery eyes. Marco flinched.

“My name’s Marco. And sure.”

A few minutes later Luffy jumped onto Ace’s lap with a den-den mushi is his hand.

Ace was sitting with his legs crossed against the railing with Thatch trying to start a conversation with him. When Luffy jumped onto him, he wrapped his arms around the kid and placed his chin on his shoulder.

Which made and adorable sight, and all the nearby pirates couldn’t help but inwardly coo.

“Hello? You’ve reached Marineford. Who is this?”

“This is Luffy! Future Pi-mmph!” Luffy pouted as Ace covered his mouth and leaned near the den-den mushi.

“Ignore him. This is Ace. We’re looking for Vice-Admiral Garp.”

“I’ll connect you to him. You know… there’s a rookie pirate with the same name as you.” Ace sweatdropped.

“Er… okay…” The weirdo laughed.

“Hello! This is Monkey D. Garp.” a voice boomed.

“Hi! Jiji!” Luffy said after Ace removed his hand.

“L-Luffy? Is that you? Are you okay? You had me so worried! You need a FIST-OF-LOVE!!” Garp bellowed.

“Yup! It’s me. I’m fine! I’m sorry and no thank you!”

“Brat,” Garp laughed.

“Shishishi! Don’t worry about me, I’m with Ace! Okay! Bye! I’m still becoming Pirate King!”

“Bwahahahaha!” And with that the call ended. Luffy sighed and leaned into Ace’s lap and closed his eyes. Ace smiled and held Luffy closer, humming quietly.

“What you humming?” Thatch asked. (Way to kill a moment.) Ace started humming louder, before he started singing.

“Blue the waves,

Blue the sky.

To all the smile he saves,

Little babe will one day fly.”

His voice was soft and like melted gold. Everyone stopped what they were doing to listen to him.

“Grow your wings.

Open your heart.

One day we’ll be kings.

One day we’ll find our part.”

Luffy sang, his voice like an angel’s and going perfectly with Ace’s.

“Hmmmm Hmm Hmm

Hmmmm Hmm Hmmmm

Hm Hmmm Hmmm Hm Hmmmmmm Hmmm,

Hmmmm Hmm Hmmmm Hmm Hmmmmmmm.”

Then they sang together.

“So don’t you cry,

I will always love you,

Won’t say goodbye.

I’ll always be true.

Hmmm Hmm Hmm Hmmmmm,

Hmmm Hmm Hmmmmm Hmmmmm.

Hmmm Hmm Hmmmmm m Hmmmmm Hmm Hmmmmmm.

M Hmmm Hmm Hmm Hmmm.”

Marco glanced at Whitebeard. He seemed to be enjoying this as much as Marco himself. Those brats were full of surprises.

“And even if the world hated you most.

Even if they tell you to go away.

I’ll always lead you to the coast,

I’ll always show you the way.”

By now the pirates had started humming the tune, to create music of sorts.

“Blue the waves,

Blue the sky.

To all the smile he saves,

Little babe will one day fly.”

“Grow your wings.

Open your heart.

One day we’ll be kings.

One day we’ll find our part.”

“Hmmmm Hmm Hmm

Hmmmm Hmm Hmmmm

Hm Hmmm Hmmm Hm Hmmmmmm Hmmm,

Hmmmm Hmm Hmmmm Hmm Hmmmmmmm.”

“So raise your black flag now.

Raise it up high.

We will never bow…

Yes, we will fly.”

“Follow the stars…!

To our hopes and our dreams.

I won’t forget these scars.

Won’t forget those smiles like beams.”

“Blue the waves,

Blue the sky.

To all the smile he saves,

Little babe will one day fly.”

“Grow your wings.

Open your heart.

One day we’ll be kings.

One day we’ll find our part.”

“Hmmmm Hmm Hmm

Hmmmm Hmm Hmmmm

Hm Hmmm Hmmm Hm Hmmmmmm Hmmm,

Hmmmm Hmm Hmmmm Hmm Hmmmmmmm.”

“Yes, this world is ours.

Just us three

We’ll go far…

We will be free!”

The pirates started clapping for them as they finished the song. Then something amazing happened. Ace smiled. At them! It was small and faint but it counted!

“Quick question!” Thatch said. Ace and Luffy stared at him.

“The last lines were, ‘just us three,’ but there are only two of you, why is that?”

“All the parts we hummed were Sabo-nii’s solos.” Luffy replied, then yawned. He leaned closer to Ace.

“You tired?” Ace asked.

“...’M not tired…” he yawned again.

“Sure, and I’m the King of Alabasta. Get some sleep.” Luffy yawned once more, and nodded. He raised his head and pressed his lips against Ace’s before falling asleep.

Ace smiled at him, before staring curiously at all the jaws on the floor that belonged to his kidnappers.

“What?” he asked with a slight tilt of his head.

“Y-you… K-kiss… b-brothers… l-little…. I THOUGHT YOU TWO WERE BROTHERS!!” Vista said, his face slightly pink at the open affection.

“We are.” Ace replied.

“BROTHER DON’T KISS!” Jozu yelled.

“When we were little, we took an oath to brotherhood realising that we liked each other more than friends should…”

“And later you realised that you might have mixed up your types of love, yoi?”

“Bingo.”

The pirates stared at him before they, one by one, started laughing.

“Y-you two… you’re really full of surprises aren’t you?”
