Prologue
The moon Goddess loved everyone equally. She blessed their children with great powers, among with the most sacred thing - mating bond. To find their mates, the other half of their souls.
Large population of males compared to females was struggle that soon everyone realised. But it didn't stop them seeking their destined mate from the Moon. Hopeful of finding them in their own or neighbourhood packs.
With not enough puppies born, females soon became the biggest treasure. Most of packs worshipped them, happy for any of the members who got blessed either with their mate or a pup. But soon it wasn't enough. Instead of treating their mates or potential chosen mates the way their Mother, the moon Goddess, intended them to, men became selfish. Desperate times need desperate measures, as they said when it started.
Selfishness doom them all.
