At the risk of belaboring the obvious, this little Yuletide Ghost story is dedicated with profound sincerity to Mr. Charles Dickens, who—whatever else may or may not be true, notwithstanding the facts of the matter—inspired the very spirit of the piece. To paraphrase “Boz” himself, “May it haunt your houses pleasantly.”
