Music For The Soul

~Music For The Soul~

In the southern district of Animus, one of the warmest places in Animus, a young orange haired boy was playing a fiddle.

In front of the boy was his fiddle case, it had a few coins in it. It was enough for tonight’s dinner and tomorrow’s breakfast, but not enough for another dinner, and so that would mean he would have to come back to the streets and play his fiddle for the people of Animus once again.

He had long, thick orange hair, tied up in a high ponytail, (it would reach down to his backside if it were down) he also wore a headband. He had Icy blue eyes, a nice smile and fear-ish skin. He wore a thin tank top and shorts, quite normal for a boy of his age living in the south. And slip on shoes.

When the young boy got home he smelt food before he got into his house, he opened the door to see his mother cooking in their small kitchen.

“Mum, why are you up?” He asked sounding worried.

“I had to make sure we didn’t have any more of your cooking,” She replied with a smile and a small laugh.

“Heh,” he sighed a little when he laughed, ”

“Get washed up please, Felicks,”

His mother was tall and thin. She also had orange hair, she wore a rather nice wrap around dress, (Something to keep her cool). She would often refuse to have much to eat, she would usually say she was not hungry and would tell her son to eat her food instead and Felicks could not argue with his mother. The young boy believed his mother did not want to eat because there was not much food for either of them and it wasn’t because she was not hungry just that she would refuse to eat for his own good, in a way. Because she did not eat enough she was left rather weak and usually remained in bed for most of the day.

“Mum, I got enough money for something nice to eat tonight,” The young boy started.

“What are you gonna get?” She asked with a smile.

“I waited till I got home to ask you what you wanted,” The orange haired boy in a hopeful tone of voice.

“That’s very nice of you Felicks, but get what you want. Okay?”

There was silence for a short time then he spoke, “Okay, I won’t be eating then,” Feliks started to walk out the kitchen, “eat mine for me then okay!” he grabbed his fiddle case and left.

The older woman did not protest and instead just smiled.

It was getting late and the sun was starting to set and Feliks was sitting on a bench in the busy street of the southern district, it was where he would often play his fiddle, which is exactly what he plans to do but, first he had to eat. He had bought some bread and a small piece of cooked meat to put inside, it was not the most interesting thing but it was all they had to offer here. After he finished he took the piece of bread he had saved and held it in his hand and began to call his bird, which he had been taming for the past few days. The bird heard his call and flew down and landed on his hand and began to eat the piece of bread.

It was a little lovebird he believed to have once been someone's pet. After the bird was done he placed the little thing on his shoulder and he began to get his fiddle ready. He started to play and every now and then somebody would put a few coins in his case.

He began to notice a young girl of about his age watching him from the other side of the street. When he finished the girl walked over to him, he noticed she also had a case, she dropped a few coins in his case.

“Thanks,” He smiled.

“That’s okay,” She smiled back, “I’m Trista, nice to meet you.” She held out her free hand, which he accepted.

“Felicks.” They shook and then she spoke again.

“Do you want to play together?” She asked holding up her case.

“Sure, why not,” He looked at her case, it was nice and well kept, “But I’ve never played with anyone else before so, umm…”

“Don’t worry it’s not that difficult,” She smiled again. She had long brown hair tied into two braids and she had dark blue eyes. her clothes looked rather nice and he began to wonder if she was even from here.

“Are you from the capital?” The orange haired boy asked.

“No, actually I’m from Zisel.” She opened her case, “Is it really that obvious?” She asked looking down at herself.

“Well, you’re dressed too nicely to be from here,” He pointed out.

“Really?” She blushed a little, “I’m on holiday with my family to visit the capital actually and I’ve travailed down here to sight see.” She explained while smiling.

“Why here to sight see?” Felicks raised an orange eyebrow.

“Why not?” The girl tilted her head to the side.

“Many reasons,” He started, “the main one being there’s nothing to see.” The boy stated bluntly.

“I feel like this place has a lot to offer,” She said as she spun around looking at the narrow, busy (dirty) street.

“Really?” He little bird chirped up as well.

“Yes, the people here are interesting too, Like you for instance.” She stated happily as she came close to his face. She then sat next to him,“Ready?” She asked as she held her fiddle up and placed it on her shoulder.

Felicks noticed straight away that her fiddle was very fancy, “Wow, that’s one fancy fiddle,”

“You call it a fiddle? We call it a violin,” She smiled.

He also began to notice she smiled a lot and that she had a very nice smile, “That makes it even fancier.”

“Let’s start.”

They both began to play, and as Felicks thought, it was hard at first, but he soon began to get the feel of it and they both played together for what seemed like hours.

“Wow, look at how much money we made!” Feliks said excitedly as he counted through the coins. The two had gotten many coins when they had been playing together, although the two had been to engross in their music to realise just how much they had been given.

“Oh no!” Trista started as she looked at her wristwatch, “I have to catch a train to the capital in five minutes,” She gathered her things then gave Felicks a quick kiss on the cheek, then got up and started to run then shouted, “Hope I see you again one day!”

He then stood up and shouted back,“You forgot your half of the money!”

“Keep it!” She shouted back and as she turned the corner Felicks began to think if he ever will see that girl again, that sweet girl with the lovely smile.
