Innerworld: A Grand Lights Story

Summary

Just because you're 12 and growing ancient by the minute doesn't mean you can't save two worlds at once. Peter Harrison, who is mercilessly teased by his schoolmates for having digestive trouble, thus his nickname of Potty, is thrown down a well by the same said schoolmates and left alone. He finds out that the well is a magical portal to another dimension, in which magic thrives, the entire world is living and organic, and the people are under a terrible oppression by a deceptive and cunning magician named Politikus Mediosus. Peter is told he must defeat the magician to save his own world, and in doing so, will save Innerworld, the name of the magical land he is in. However, he first must find and empty three magic vessels before he can defeat the evil Mediosus, and time is running out, for Peter is growing very old and has only one week to save both worlds. This reads like a cross between C.S.Lewis and Douglas Adams.

Prologue

Grand Lights is an unassuming little town in the Midwest of the United States. It has a river that runs through it and a large enough downtown to be called a downtown. There are movie theaters, churches, schools, shops, and business centers, like every small town. There’s even a riverboat where people can play cards for money. A silly thing to do, because most people lose the games and thus lose the money, but they do it anyway.

Not a very remarkable town, to be sure, except it has the one distinction that no other town I know of has: a terrible history with the fantastic.

This is just one story about a person who had something wonderful and frightening and exhilarating happen to him.
