Chapter 40

Jessica opened her eyes to a door opening. She realized she was in bed and not a familiar one. She looked under the blankets and realized she had her clothes on and no one was beside her.

“Don’t worry beautiful I didn't take advantage of you in your sleep” Jonathans voice came from the doorway.

“I am always but a gentlemen I carried your sleepyhead to the bed where you slept soundly all night” he told her.

“How would you know I slept soundly?” Jessica asked.

“I may have sat and watched you all night,” he answered.

“Don’t you sleep?” Jessica asked

“Yes and No” he answered

“Never mind it’s too early” Jessica said while throwing back the covers.

“Wait I made you breakfast in bed don't get up” he said bringing the tray over. Wow breakfast in bed and no one not even her mom had ever made her breakfast in bed in her life. “Thank you” she said sitting up in bed as he set the tray down.

He had gone all out bacon, eggs, toast, hash browns and sausage. It was a meal fit for a queen she thought silently to herself. She took a bite and found herself taking another and another.

“I guess someone is hungry,” Jonathan said with surprise.

“I don’t normally eat breakfast so it’s a treat” Jessica said between bites. It wasn't long before she had cleaned her plate. She set her tray aside and stretched.

“What time is it?” she asked,

“Getting close to 8 in the morning,” he answered without looking at his watch.

“How do you know that’s what time it without looking?” she asked.

“Because I saw the time before I came in here and I figured you’d ask” he answered.

“Okay since you check things first what am I going to ask now?” she grinned.

“Either where your bathroom is or what you are going to wear. To both of those the bathroom is the door just to the right of the closet and there are t-shirts and jeans in the closet.” he said with a wide grin.

“Smarty pants” she said throwing a pillow at him.

“You asked don't get mad at me,” he said laughing.

She got out of bed and made her way to the closet and picked out some jeans and a blue t-shirt and made her way to the bathroom.

“Is it ok if I take a shower?” she asked.

“Yes I will be in the living room,” he answered.

As she walked into the bathroom it was like a fancy room at a hotel. There were fluffy white towels on the racks and a white fluffy robe hanging up also. The shower had a glass door. She turned and shut and locked the bathroom door. She definitely wanted her privacy.

The hot water felt amazing falling on her skin. She grabbed the bottle of shampoo and washed her hair working the shampoo through and rinsing it out. She washed her skin with the loofah and shaved her legs with the lady razor he had bought for her that was left in the shower. ‘Wow he really thinks ahead’ Jessica thought to herself. She rinsed off and got out of the shower wrapping her self in a fluffy towel and drying her hair with another towel.

She wrapped her hair in the fluffy towel finished drying her body off. She grabbed the jeans. She had to get some bras and underwear for over here. Soon it would matter though because she would live here but for now yesterdays bra would have to work. She pulled on her t-shirt and unwrapped her hair. She flipped it a few times and began brushing it out, then finally put it in a ponytail.

She unlocked the bathroom door and walked into the bedroom and grabbed her phone and purse and walked to the living room. Jonathan sat watching TV on the couch. She walked around the couch and sat next to him. She leaned into his chest and snuggled next to him. He held her close to him without a word and they watched TV for a little until Jessica’s phone rang.

Her mom had called to see if she was all right. She reassured her she was ok and she had been anything but ladylike. She told her she would be home later that day.

“Was that your mom checking in?” he asked.

“Of course wanted to make sure I was a lady last night” she mentioned.

“I can't believe graduation is less than a couple weeks away. Time is flying by but going so slow.” she said out loud.

“As soon as that is out of the way we can prepare our wedding,” he replied.

“Then you will finally be like me and we can move on with our lives together as we wanted,” he continued.

“I will get mom and Cathy to go to the bridal store today but I doubt I will find what I want,” Jessica told him.

“Well we can have it made if you like” Jonathan volunteered.

“Jonathan that’s sweet but I don’t want to be throwing your money around worse than I already am” she told him with a small smile.

“Jessica you are my bride I want the best and if it costs a little to make you have the wedding you want then so be it,” he said kissing her forehead.

Jessica called her mom back and asked if she would go gown hunting with her and if Cathy would go. Of course they said yes and Jessica got in her car and headed to her mothers. On the way Jessica made a mental note of what she wanted her wedding dress to look like: a short dress just above her knees, with a lace robe with lace sleeves with designs that had a not to long tran. However around the neck it came together but had an opening around the cleavage.

As soon as she arrived her mother and sister were dressed and ready to go. They set out to the first bridal store and found nothing they liked and then moved to the second. She found the first part of her dress but not the tran. So she explained the design to the sales lady and she said they could make the tran to her liking. They were even more helpful when they found out she was marrying Jonathan Rice.

They asked what color and style the bridesmaid’s dresses would be in and for the first time Jessica had no idea. Jessica turned to her mother and Cathy for help. They looked around and found a nice purple style that both her mother and Cathy agreed on. They took measurements and said they would put a rush on the dresses and have them back for a fitting in a week or sooner. ‘Amazing what money can buy’ Jessica thought to herself.

“So where are you going to hold the wedding?” her mother asked.

“All honesty I never thought of that” Jessica replied.

“I will have to talk to Jonathan see if he has any ideas.” Jessica told her mother.

“Cathy you okay?” Jessica asked.

“Yeah I am just shocked this is all happening so fast” she answered.

“I know we fall in love without looking and things start happening” Jessica smiled at her sister.

“Well I think you and Jonathan should get a wedding planner so you don’t get overwhelmed with the details because it is starting to happen,” Jessica’s mother told her.

“That’s a good idea I will see what Jonathan says since he’s bank rolling this crazy event. When did marrying someone get so crazy?” Jessica wondered.

About 4 hours had past since Jessica had left to find a wedding dress when he heard a car pull up outside. Jonathan wandered towards the front door to see Jessica had returned. Jonathan opened the door to the house. She smiled and walked in and gave him a hug and a kiss.

“How was dress shopping? Find everything you need ok?” Jonathan asked.

“The bridal shop was willing to help create my gown yes and we decided on a light purple for the bridesmaid dresses. Do you think we need a wedding planner?” Jessica spoke so fast it was hard for Jonathan to keep up.

“A wedding planner, yes possibly if you think you can't handle the details.” he answered

“I have no idea how to plan this wedding and it was a lot easier when I was a kid” she said pouting at him.

“Put the lip away pouting doesn't become you.” Jonathan told her with a grin.

“That’s why they make wedding planners I will make the call in a later today.” he told her

“Now calm your nerves and why don't I send you to the spa for a day” he told her.

“No thanks I am not really into things like that” she answered.

“Have you ever been to a spa?” he asked her.

“No” she answered

“Well then you're going no ifs ands or buts enjoy these simple things while your human ok” he told her giving her a hug.

She chose to not argue because he had a point. She wasn't going to be human for too much longer and she needed to do things kind of like a bucket list before she changed. As she walked to the car he had waiting out front for her she felt a pang of sadness. Part of her didn’t want to lose her human half that enjoy simple parts of being human like stupid spa days. She shook her head and got in the car it was so to late to turn around now, she loved him and had made her choice.

As she rode to the spa she thought about how graduation would be tossing her cap in the air and seeing all the other doing the same. They would be going off to colleges and some would be making babies and she would be getting married and becoming a vampire. Whenever she was around Jonathan it felt so right but when they were apart she sometimes felt like she had chose wrong.

It was just nerves but she knew when it was over things would be ok and they would be together forever. In the end it would be her and Jonathan because she would watch her family grow older and die.

Maybe she did need a spa day to relax
