Prologue
Rules are made to be broken, but I intend to shatter mine. Rules are made to keep people safe. Well I want to see the world. My whole life has been controlled by rules. The rules I was brought up with were about the things boys and girls did. Or rather for me, what Princes and Princesses did that were different. Princes learnt sword fighting; Princesses learnt how to be the perfect hostess. Princes do all fun things while Princesses do all the boring things.
I’ve longed for adventures since the time I was 5 years old. Of course Princesses didn’t go on adventures, Princes did. When my oldest brother, Drake, came home from his first hunting trip when he was 13, I begged him to tell me all about it. My mother scolded me for asking about such horrid things but I longed to hear about it. My other two brothers, Avery and Fable, also got begged when they went hunting for the first time. Though it was terribly much like Drake’s first hunting trip I hung on every word. The way they told it was like being told a horror story. I found it terribly fascinating. My mother was concerned that I’d become too carefree and not become the Princess she wanted me to be. Someone who would be admired and adored by my Kingdom. I already was, as I possessed my mother long golden hair and my father’s strong-will and fiery spirit.
My name is Crown Princess Elanor of Ashdene. My brothers call me Elli, and I’m a Princess who is set to shatter all the rules that I have lived by my whole life. Anything my brothers can do…well I can do it better. And I’m about to prove that to the entire Kingdom and my mother.
