Chapter 29

The Lycan’s castle was deathly calm except for the roar of the raging beast. The throne room was destroyed with splinters of wood littering the red carpeted floor. The once elegant throne room now looked like it was swallowed and spat out by a tornado.

King Antonio sat on the half-destroyed throne in his beast form, his chest rumbling violently and his eyes challenging anyone who dare cross the threshold. Giselle perched on the floor shaking like a leaf, her head bowed with eyes cast down. Raymond knelt down with his neck in submission.

“Bee-tt—aa, w-wee-e go-o to-o Loo-ci-an. Kee-ll i-ss maa-te,” Antonio’s beast growled.

Raymond gave a curt nod in agreement and left the throne room with a determined look. They needed a witch’s help to go to the human realm, and they had one locked in the cells below the ground.

Giselle feared for Lucian and she could do nothing to help. The medallion which she had with her was taken away and there was no way she could warn Dimitri. Antonio has lost the ability to reason with and has gone mad with rage. His beast wanted blood. He had imprisoned Mirunalini and contacted Dimitri through her. When Dimitri informed that Lucian wasn’t coming back, Antonio bellowed in rage and destroyed the throne room.

Raymond returned with Mirunalini and Nikolas in tow. Mirunalini’s eyes connected with Giselle, pleading her to stop this craziness. There were claw marks on her arms and Giselle felt miserable.

“Take us to Prince Lucian,” Raymond ordered making her cringe. The Lycans enjoyed the scent of fear coming from the woman.

“I am coming too, father,” Audriana entered the throne room with a determined look.

Raymond knew that look well. He would gladly allow his daughter to rip through Lucian’s worthless mate. It was the only way to break his bond with her. Lucian would go berserk, but Raymond had other ideas. Nothing a little of magic can’t do. He smirked at the thought.

He gazed at the Queen distastefully, he smelled something fishy and had his son Nikolas follow the Queen. His suspicion was confirmed when he discovered Lucian’s mating. The Queen had known about it from the first day. It was him who informed Antonio, who did not believe his word at first and supported his mate.

When Nikolas informed them of Giselle contacting her brother, they made the King listen to their conversation and Antonio behaved how Raymond had wanted him to. The cunning beta had wanted the throne to himself for so long. But, he wasn’t strong enough to challenge the Alpha King, so he fueled Prince Dominick’s rage.

He rejoiced when his mate birthed a female child and used his tactics to arrange her mating with the Crown Prince. He still continued to fuel Dominick just in case if his plan failed.

However, he did not expect Prince Dominick to spoil his plan thirteen years ago when Antonio announced Lucian’s arranged mating with his daughter Audriana. Dominick had lost control of his beast and destroyed everything, losing the fight to his brother.

When Lucian was lost in the human realm, Raymond had sorted out the help of a witch who informed him that Lucian was alive and well. I waited for all these years. Did they think I would keep quiet when the Prince choose a mate for himself? Raymond thought bitterly as Mirunalini chanted a spell to teleport them.

The familiar green smoke filled the room and Giselle held her breath, fearing the worst.

The Steller family had gathered together in the living room of the lakeside home for breakfast, chatting with each other.

“We are heading to the University this afternoon. Our exams start next week,” Lucian said taking a bite of his food.

“And dad, no one is to know about our wedding,” Alexa said.

Victor nodded his agreement. He got them married soon as he did not want the Royals messing up with his daughter’s life. They kept the details of the nuptials a secret as he wanted no one to judge his daughter or Lucian.

Lucian’s head snapped up when he heard an unnatural thundering outside. The growls it brought with, screamed danger. He rushed outside to the source and watched in dismay as the cloud above them cackled with a green-colored smoke covering their backyard. Abram and Nate’s ears perked up as a growl rumbled in their chests.

When the smoke cleared, there stood a beast which looked so much like his own except his eyes where dark amber. His rage radiated in waves as the beast snapped its jaw in warning.

Beside the beast was a beautiful woman, warm and serene. She reminded Lucian of morning mist and fresh flowers. Her warm brown eyes held unshed tears and her fear could not be mistaken. Her scent stirred long-buried memories within his mind as Lucian’s eyes widened with realization.

“Mother…” He whispered making the woman’s unshed tears break free of her tear ducts.

Another woman stood next to her, she had dark skin and jet black hair with matching black eyes. Her eyes held fear, and she was holding on to his mother’s hand like her life depended on it.

Lucian did not recognize the burly man who stood beside his father or the young boy who looked over sixteen and a girl of his age. The look of maliciousness in their faces irked his beast and he let out a threatening growl of his own.

The girl’s eyes narrowed at Alexa and she growled showing her fangs when she noticed the way Alexa had clutched Lucian’s hand. The Steller’s stood behind Lucian and Alexa not understanding what was going on. The girl’s eyes narrowed at Alexa and she growled showing her fangs when she noticed the way Alexa had clutched Lucian’s hand. The Steller’s stood behind Lucian and Alexa not understanding what was going on.

Lucian heard approaching cars and the faint scent of Uncle Dimitri’s reached his nostrils. Dimitri knew there was something wrong the moment Mirunalini had contacted him. Antonio’s beast roared with rage and he did not miss Mirunalini’s signal.

His nephew was in danger. Dimitri rushed to their Burlington apartment only to find it empty. Fortunately, Lucian had provided him with their Hinesburg address and he rushed there without wasting time.

Dimitri froze in shock as he realized the King himself has come to the human realm. “What are you doing? This is the human realm and you will expose us to the unsuspecting humans,” Dimitri warned earning a nonchalant shrug from Raymond.

The elite guards who accompanied Dimitri rushed towards their King and knelt showing their respect.

However, Kieran, Callum, and Quentin stood beside Lucian with bowed heads, showing their loyalty to their Prince.

“Oh yes, that’s why we brought this little witch here Prince Dimitri,” Raymond said in a mocking tone. His smirk grew wide when Lucian growled.

A complete disrespect, Dimitri clenched his fists but let it slide. This was no place to show my anger. I protect Alexa. He gazed at Audriana with distaste. Her presence is not good. Alexa, you are in extreme danger. That girl over there was Lucian’s fiancée. Dimitri thought hoping Alexa would read them.

Alexa’s sharp intake of breath and her widened eyes was proof enough for him to know she heard him.

The beast and the Elven woman standing next to him are Lucian’s parents. The woman standing next to Giselle is our dear friend and a witch Mirunalini. The other three are notorious and no matter what happens never let them get to you, Dimitri continued.

What do I do? Alexa’s voice floated through his mind. He could feel mild fear rising within her.

You are stronger than you know Alexa. Just stay with us, Dimitri replied.

Alexa did not expect them to show up on their doorstep the next morning. She believed Lucian more than anyone and knew he wouldn’t give her up. However, the impending fight terrified her. What if Lucian got hurt?

Antonio’s beast growled looking at Raymond, who bowed at him and stepped forth looking pointedly at Lucian. “Prince Lucian, I am Royal beta Raymond,” he introduced himself with a curt bow. “It has come to our knowledge that you mated with a mere mortal and committed a capital offense.” His tone grew harsher.

Lucian’s lips curled up showing his sharp fangs. “That’s none of your business, beta. I do not belong to the supernatural realm anymore.” Lucian’s voice rung with authority. He stood tall and his muscles flexed as he clenched his fists.

Though Raymond flinched he did not show it on his face. “I apologize, but it’s not your decision to make. You have not only betrayed your people but also went against your father’s promise of arranged mating with my daughter. It’s considered treason, nonetheless,” Raymond replied earning a ferocious growl from Lucian. “And I don’t think you are in a position to win against our King, Prince Lucian.” A mocking smile spread across Raymond’s face. “You are too young for the fight. Please return to your rightful place.”

This did the trick and Alexa chuckled behind Lucian. Did he hear himself out? Did he just mock Lucian? No one mocks my husband and gets away with that. She was frightened at first. However, the mocking words and the expression on Raymond’s face set her off.

“You consider yourself so high, Beta,” Alexa taunted. Her hand gripped Lucian’s forearm and squeezed in assurance. “Do not judge the book by its cover,” she continued tracing Lucian’s biceps. Her eyes twinkled with mischief as she looked at Audriana, who sneered and shook with rage.

A violent growl tore through Raymond’s lips and his hands sprouted claws. “You dare speak to a Royal? You unworthy reason of a mortal,” Raymond spat. His facial features contorted in anger and with his beast surfacing, it was a frightful look. However, it did not faze Alexa. She’d seen worse. He was nothing compared to Lucian’s beast.

“Now, now, now, it is no way to speak to your future Queen. Is it?” Alexa smirked, knowing well what kind of reaction she could expect. Giselle’s jaw dropped and her face held a look of awe. “I challenge King Antonio and whoever wants to test Lucian’s patience. Once Lucian has handed your ass back to you, you can drag your smelly butts to wherever you came from,” Alexa declared looking at the King pointedly.

A single bark from Antonio silenced the protested growls of the elite guards. “I ag-g-rree,” Antonio’s beast drawled as he sized up his opponent.

“What have you done?” Dimitri whisper yelled at Alexa.

“I am giving him what he wanted. He was itching for a fight right from the beginning,” Alexa shrugged.

Dimitri stepped in front of Alexa when Raymond advanced towards Alexa with his extended claws. “You know the law, Raymond. Your King has accepted the challenge, and no one disrupts the fight. The winner will decide the rest.” Dimitri crossed his hands across the chest as he stared at the angry Beta challengingly.

Raymond let out an annoying huff before stepping back and went back to stand with Nikolas and Audriana who appeared furious.

“Mirunalini you know what to do,” Dimitri ordered, and the witch smiled for the first time after days.

“Oh, my God! Lucian is going to fight,” Nate exclaimed.

“Awesome. I will get the popcorns!” Abram shouted as he ran inside.

“I will come with you.” Nate followed him in.

Mirunalini walked towards the center of their backyard with long confident strides. A circle was formed with a wave of her finger and mist surrounded the area hiding everything from the mortal eyes.

The fire demon hovering over the trees nearby noticed the magical mist. He knew that one well, the one which can only be created by a witch. Then to confirm the suspicions he heard the beastly snarls.

This must be the place Qistina lives. A blissful thought lit him as he flew towards the mist.
