Chapter 27

“Always put yourself in the other’s shoes. If you feel that it
hurts you, it probably hurts the person too.”

My eyes have turned as my wolf took control of my body long back.

Ripping the sheets from the bed, I tore it into pieces; the anger was getting the best out of me. The wolf will pay for touching my mate, but at first, I need to show her who is the real man for her.

I narrowed my eyes as the bathroom door opened and Anna came out clad only in her towel. The scent of the other wolf so rich in the air and the need to get rid of it was so high.

“Aiden,” a surprised whisper caught my attention and I watched as she ran towards me and engulf me in a tight hug.

My wolf growled loudly making her jump. “So it’s true.”

“Aiden,” she looked at me confused. My eyes were dark and my fangs grew painfully at the thought of her being with someone.

“What?” She frowned.

“I fucking hate it when you smell like someone else,” I growled. “How could you? How could you do this to me?”

“W-What? What are you talking about?”

Fucking liar.

I closed the distance between us, towering over her and causing her to step back. “I can still fucking smell him everywhere.”

Confusion washed over her features. “What smell?” she sniffed. “I just showered.”

I scoffed, cornering her to the wall. “Couldn’t wait to wash his scent off from you, huh?”

She pushed at my chest. “What are you going on about? What scent? Who’s scent?”

“That scent.” I pointed on the blood. “The scent of you fucking someone on the our bed.”

Her eyes widened and the next thing I know her palm connected with my cheek. Her chest heaved as tears welled in her eyes.

“I hate you,” she said, brushing off her tears furiously. “I’ve been sick since yesterday. I’ve been in pain all night and you weren’t even answering my calls. Now you dare to blame me of something as vile as this?” Her chest heaved. “I thought you knew better than this.” She pushed past me to the closet, pulling something from a bag she kept there.

My eyes widened when I noticed what it was. Tampon?

A scent of blood drifted through my nostrils. My eyes quickly raked over her and relaxed when I found no visible injury. It took a few more moments to realize she was on her periods.

Wait. If she was bleeding...

I ran hand over my face. Her periods were always painful and I’ve been a moron. Fuck. I didn’t even give her a chance to explain.

Contemplating on what to do next, I rushed towards the bathroom first. That wolf will pay for what he did, but for now, I had a mate to console and I will be lucky if she even forgives me after what I did.

“Baby, I am so sorry,” I whispered as I pulled her into my lap. I sat down with her on the toilet seat as she cried.

“Sorry babe, it’s just… I lost control when I smelled that scent in our room. I wasn’t thinking clearly. I should have asked you about it. It will never happen again I have already hurt her enough for today.

I held her close and tended to her. If I had marked her, a situation like this would have never occurred.

“You’ve been acting weird these days. I don’t even know what scent you’re talking about and what were you thinking accusing me of something like that. How could you?” Her lips trembled. “You didn’t even bother telling me what it is.”

“I’m sorry. It’s just…Someone said something bad about you. Then when I came inside, I smelled another wolf in our room. It was too much for my wolf. I shouldn’t have doubted you. I will never lose my control with you like that, ever again,” I whispered and sighed when she nodded and leaned towards my embrace.

She was innocent and I should never have doubted her in the first place. My wolf whimpered and hid his face with his tail in my mind.

After a while, I went down leaving Anna to rest.

“Aiden,” my mom’s voice boomed across the hall making me cringe.

“Come with me right now,” she ordered as she went towards the corridor that led to the dungeons and I followed her with a confused glance.

Nicholas was already inside the cell with that butt naked wolf that jumped out of the window.

My wolf growled loudly and a wave of satisfaction filled me on seeing his bloody face.

“I saw him jumping naked from your bedroom window,” my mom stated the obvious.

Nicholas looked equally angry, “He is not telling us what his business here was,” he grumbled. His knuckles were bloody.

“What were you doing in my room?” I growled threateningly. The wolf cowered and turned his neck in submission.

“Anna asked me to come today,” he blurted out earning a growl from my mom.

“I knew it, I have scented you a few days back too,” she exclaimed as she swiped her claws at his chest.

My anger spiked, “You’re lying,” I spat angrily.

“I am not lying, Alpha Aiden. She messaged me to come and meet her. I came yesterday night, we were not expecting you to come earlier and I had to jump out of the window to escape. Please check my mobile if you want to, it is inside your closet,” he spoke quickly.

“It sounds as if you had planned this very well,” I mused. There is no way Anna would cheat on me. Anyone could have messaged from her mobile; Anna had the habit of leaving her mobile carelessly around the home.

“My question is why are you doing this? What would you gain by claiming something like this?” The wolf shivered at my angry voice.

“Anna is human, maybe he is trying to play against her so the pack would detest her,” Nicholas stated without taking his eyes off him.

My mom did not move or say anything; she stood as if she was thinking of something.

“I will leave you to it,” she says after a while and leaves the dungeons without another word. I must speak to her soon.

Nicholas and I took turns in beating the wolf. He was the reason, I hurt Anna. Soon enough he was unconscious and Nicholas had to drag me out to prevent me from killing him.

Nicholas and I sat in our favorite spot in the woods. He was very angry when I told him about Anna, we always shared everything and I thought speaking to him would help.

“I can’t believe you would do something like that to her,” he scolded for the hundredth time.

“Aiden, she may be a human. Anna values family and relationships. She would never do something like that to you,” He says and I nodded my head shamefully.

“Her being human, she will not even know if someone in her room. She would have been in the bath when he entered and the poor thing does not even have a clue of this ordeal,” He continues.

“Stop thinking like a wolf when it comes to Anna, think like a human. You can be together only if you trust her enough,” he sighs raking a hand through his hair.

“I trust her,” I counter. “It will never happen again,” I said with determination and Nicholas nodded with a smile.

When I reached home after speaking with Nic, I went to check with mom before heading to our room.

“Mom,” she looked up from the book she was reading and motioned me to sit next to her. The counseling was helping her and she looked better now.

“What is it?” She asks.

“Nothing just wanted to check how you are doing.” I shrug sitting down.

“I’m good,” she replies curtly.

“Mom, why wouldn’t you accept Anna?” I ask hopelessly. It’s been two months and my mom has not spoken a single word to her.

“Aiden, you should know by now. I would never accept a human as my daughter in law and the one who cheats on her own mate. I despise her.” She spat angrily.

“Mom, she did not cheat,” I growl as anger started bubbling inside me.

“Really, then what do you say to this?” She pulled her phone out showing me some pictures. It was a picture of Anna with a low-rank wolf. She was kissing him in the backyard.

Taking a deep breath, I calmed down my wolf. “Mom, I am gonna need this,” I said taking the mobile from her.

Maybe I will contact a professional to see if the photo was real. There is no way I am accusing Anna without proper evidence. And even if she did cheat, I will not be able to hate her. I loved her that much.

I kept quiet about the picture and that wolf. I did not divulge anything to her and decided to let it slide for the moment.

After a week, the lab results came which claimed that the picture was real and was not morphed.

“Aiden, look I am confused as you are. The lab results are true and yet at the same time, we cannot doubt Anna for even thinking of something like this,” Nicholas argued.

“I’m not going to ask her anything about this now,” I replied clapping his shoulders.

Doubt is a dangerous disease; once it occurs to you it will slowly eat your insides making you see everything with suspicion.

And I am no different.

“Good Morning Aiden,” Barbara wished me cheerfully when I reached the dining table.

“Hey honey,” Anna got up kissing me softly.

“Good Morning,” I say as we joined them for breakfast. Another week has passed without any events and Anna had forgiven me for what I did, only if she knew the real reason behind my actions. She would have chopped my balls and fed it to me.

We were happy and I wished it continues like this.

“Anna, I am going to Seattle today. There is a conference,” I say in a bored tone and they laugh.

They knew how much I hated these conferences. Sadly, Nicholas has gone another meeting and could not go.

Kissing Anna and waving at Barbara, I drove to Seattle for the boring conference.

The conference was boring as I thought it would be and I almost fell asleep twice. Feigning a headache, I left the conference without staying for dinner and drove back to Portland.

When I reached home it was around ten at night. My mom met me in the living room and she had a look of displeasure.

“What is it, mom?” I enquired hoping she did not confront Anna about the photo.

“Well, go and sniff it for yourself,” she growled angrily as she stormed towards her room.

Not understanding anything for a bit I decided to find Anna and met with Grace who looked uncomfortable.

“Aiden, Oh… You are early,” she said trying to force a smile.

“What is it Grace?” Now I am starting to get irritated.

“Ah… Nothing, maybe you should go and freshen up first.” She suggests shifting her feet uncomfortably.

“No, I have to see Anna first,” I try to move past her but she gripped my hand stopping me.

“Aiden, it’s really not a good idea to go out there now,” she said and looked uncomfortable which only spiked my curiosity.

“I don’t understand why everyone in this house behaves like this suddenly,” I mumble as I move past her and follow Anna’s scent. I caught a scent of something else which made me stop in my tracks.

Not again, I say to myself and follow Anna to the kitchen. The scent of another wolf hit me with full force and I stopped breathing for a second to stop gagging.

Anna stood there cleaning the dishes and my eyes zeroed on the spot behind her white skirt. A patch of something sticky and no doubt someone has jerked himself off her skirt.

My anger flared as I tried to think rationally. Last time I smelled something like this, Anna was innocent. What if someone is trying to do this to her?

She is a human and she wouldn’t be able to smell it and someone who decides to cheat will never be this careless. Especially with the knowledge of our strong senses, Anna knew I could scent anything.

“Anna,” I called through my clenched teeth.

“Aiden,” she whipped around and looked at me with a confused expression. I am sure it is my eye color; it changes when I am angry and now my wolf is out again.

“I want you to change this skirt now,” I grit out. It was hard to maintain the composure. My anger was directed towards this low ranked wolf.

“Why? You don’t like it?” She asked looking down at her skirt.

“Do you know what this is?” I yell making her jump. She looks at the patch confusingly.

“Ew… what is this? Looks like corn starch,” she speaks mostly to herself as she investigated the thing.

“No, it’s not Anna. It is the seed of a wolf,” I respond angrily.

“Seed?” She looks at me still not understanding.

“Semen, Anna.” She shrieks at that and removes the skirt on the spot throwing it few feet away as it was infected.

Nevertheless, my anger turned into amusement as I watch her shriek and throw it away now standing there only in a short tops and panties.

She opened and closed her mouth like fish. “Tell me you are not kidding,” she whispers wide-eyed.

“I am not joking, Anna,” I reply and watched her as her eyes brimmed with tears.

“Look, Anna, I don’t know why but it seems like someone is trying to set you up. Come let’s go to our room,” I led her to our room and luckily everyone has retired earlier today.

“What are you not telling me, Aiden?” She asks me once we are inside.

Taking a deep breath and contemplating about telling her the truth, I decided to tell her.

She listened to everything and almost fainted in shock when I showed her the photo.

“Impossible,” she whispers.

The shock in her face was enough for me to know she is innocent.

“Why would anyone do this?” She asks after a while.

“I am not sure who, but we are going to find him or her,” I pull her into my embrace.

“I trust you, Anna Carter James, know this I will always believe you no matter what and forget about this,” I comfort her and she snuggles close to my chest.

My mind was in turmoil, how could have anyone gotten this close to put something like that on her skirt. She would have to know; again, I pushed the thought aside.

This must be the reason mom was angry and Grace behaved all weird.
