The Big Day
After two weeks of planning, everyone was excited for this day to come—Keon and Ariel’s wedding day. This was the biggest day of their life. They have waited patiently for this day and it has finally come. While in a house right beside the ceremony, Ariel was in a dressing room, sitting on a small cylinder-like chair. As she was putting on her white, satin wedding dress, the girls were with her in the room. They had on peach bridesmaid dresses as they helped Ariel get herself together.
“What time is it?” Ariel asked nervously.
“It’s 3:30,” Samantha answered. “The wedding doesn’t start until 4:00 p.m.…just like the pamphlet says.”
“You did an awesome job by the way Sam,” Ariel said in a rush.
“Okay, how do I look so far?” Ariel asked in a more nervous tone than before.
“This is the fifth time you asked. You look fine. Stop worrying.”
“Sorry. I just can’t help it.” *Ariel was more nervous than a drug addict on the third attempt of becoming clean. She starts to brush her hair some more after Veronica just got through fixing it in a bun*
“Ariel it looks fine just the way it is!” Veronica said on frustration.
“I just want everything to be perfect,” she explained while patting her head and then Niecy zipped the back of her dress.
“Everything’s gonna be fine,” Coryannah said while straightening Ariel’s train.
*Ariel looks down*
“I know that look. What’s wrong?” Niecy asked in concern.
“I’m fine,” Ariel said spreading out her dress slowly.
“Oh no…something’s wrong. What is it?” Veronica said.
“If you don’t tell us what’s wrong, I’m gonna bring Keon in here…and you know I will,” Coryannah said.
*Ariel sighed heavily* “I just don’t want anything bad to happen.”
“Nothing bad is gonna happen during the wedding,” Sam said as Niecy rubbed Ariel’s shoulder.
“Yeah. Just think positive,” Coryannah said cheerfully.
“Everything’s gonna be beautiful,” Veronica added. “I should know…I put everything together.”
“Anyway! Ariel shouldn’t be nervous cuz the whole thing is gonna turn out perfect,” Niecy said. “Right girls?”’
“Yeah!” the girls said all together.
“Thanks,” Ariel chuckled.
“Could you guys give us a minute?” Veronica said.
“Sure!” Coryannah said and the other girls followed her as she walked out of the door into the hallway. “We’ll be out here practicing with the guys.”
“Alright!” Ariel said as she closed the door.
“Now,” Veronica said grabbing a chair to sit in next to Ariel, “tell me what’s wrong.”
“I just have this heavy feeling in my heart that something’s gonna happen. I don’t know when and I don’t know how, but it’s just a feeling that I have.” Ariel said worriedly.
“Have you had any dreams about these feelings?”
“You know me. I would tell you to look in that crystal ball I gave you so we can see what’s going on…but we don’t have time.”
“I know,” Ariel sighed, “plus I didn’t bring it with me.”
“All I can say is try not to worry about it too much chica. How much does Keon love you?”
“A lot. He said that he would do anything for me. He would even die for me.”
“Awww…well there you go. How much do you love him?”
“I’ve never felt this way about any guy that I’ve ever met.”
“Not even Tobi?”
“I feel like I’m in heaven when I’m with Keon. Anytime we do something fun, or just even spend time together, he makes me feel like a little girl getting a giant sized teddy bear at the carnival or getting a puppy for Christmas.”
*Veronica looked at her in reverence* “Aww…that’s so adorable.”
“I know,” Ariel squealed and then sighed, “Oh my God…”
“Nothing. I just hope that I don’t mess up while I’m out there. What if I trip or even fall?”
“You’re not gonna mess up. You’re gonna be great, and everything’s gonna be perfect.”
*Ariel sighed lightly in relief* “You know what?”
“I gotta go pee,” Ariel said with a giggle.
“Oh my God,” Veronica groaned with a smirk. “Go pee.”
Ariel laughed, stood up, and grabbed as much of her dress as she could to go to the women’s restroom. Veronica followed her out the door to find the girls and join them. After she came out, she passed by the men’s restroom and overheard Keon and Mikal laughing. She started to ignore it and let them have their “guy time”, but Ariel was very desperate to know how Keon felt about this wedding. So she cracked the door open a little to listen to their conversation.
“So are you ready to get married?”
“Yeah Mike. I think Ariel’s the one,” Keon answered.
*Ariel began to mouth every cuss word in the book*
“Yeah,” Keon said kinda annoyed.
“Okay,” Mikal laughed. “I was just playin.”
~You better be~ Ariel thought.
“And what are you gonna do about Sam?”
“You’re honestly gonna pretend that you don’t know what I’m talkin about?”
*Mikal sighed and looked down* “I don’t know what to do about us.”
“What do you mean? You like her, and she likes you. What’s complicated about that?”
“I don’t want anyone else to know that I like her…a-and how do you know she likes me?”
“It’s just a feeling that I have, but don’t worry about that. Continue with your thought.”
“It’s crazy man,” Mikal hesitantly continued.
*Ariel sighs in confusion, but she realized that it was a loud sigh so she quickly hid*
“What was that?” Mikal asked.
“I don’t know…” Keon said then suddenly put his hands on the sink.
“You okay dude?”
“I’m just a little nervous…but it’s all good. I’m okay.”
*Ariel heard someone coming after she eased back to the door…just when it was getting good. So she acted fast and hid in the women’s restroom. It was Monterrious coming with his black tux*
“Keon, the wedding’s about to start. So put on your jacket and come on.”
“Alright,” Keon said.
*Ariel waited until Monty was completely out of sight, then she went back to the door once again and continued eavesdropping*
“I guess this is it,” Keon sighed.
“Well, there’s an exit just down the hall. If you want we can leave now,” Mikal said sarcastically.
~You better not!~ Ariel thought with an angry look on her face.
“No I’m not,” Keon laughed. “I love Ariel too much to just walk out on her like that.”
Ariel quietly sighed then she quickly went into the girl’s dressing room, and the guys came out of the restroom to go take their place at the altar. Ariel thought about what Keon just said as she walked over to her cylinder chair. The thought made her smile confidently. She felt carefree at this point, as if she could just walked down the aisle while riding on a big soft cloud, and not worry about a single thing. Then, she looked in the mirror for the last time to make sure that she looked good.
“I’m ready,” she said to herself.
*Keon stood in the doorway of the building where it led to Bluefields Beach, which was on One Tree Island* “I’m ready,” he said confidently to himself.
“Let’s do this,” Mikal said as he put his hand on Keon’s shoulder.
The wedding was decorated beautifully on each side. The middle aisle was covered with red roses, having lanterns lined up neatly on each side of the aisle. Also on each side are about fifteen chairs in rows of three. At the end of the aisle, the altar was decorated like a small tent. There was a curtain held up by three poles placed in the shape of a triangle, decorated with all kinds of flowers circling the top of it. Under the altar, there were two tall, red stands with candles sitting on top of them, lit beautifully along with the lanterns. The stands were on each side of the pastor, who was waiting patiently awaiting for the bride and groom to come down the aisle.
Everyone lined up in their places, just as they practiced. One of Ariel’s favorite boy groups, Plus One, came to sing some of their songs in person for the wedding, which was a surprise to Ariel. When she heard them begin to sing, she was overjoyed with happiness. The group was singing “Calling Down An Angel.” Steve and his fiancé Katelyn came out first during the first verse. Next, Trey and Niecy came during the chorus. Then, Monterrious and Coryannah came during the second verse. After that, Mikal and Samantha came while they sang the chorus again. Soon after, Keon walked confidently down the long aisle by himself during the third verse. As the third verse was ending and the chorus was about to repeat for the second time, everyone stood for the bride to come through the door. As soon as the chorus began, Ariel started walking down the aisle by herself, smiling cheerfully at Keon and he smiled at her the same way as she reached the altar.
~She’s my angel…~ Keon thought.
~Really?~ Ariel thought. ~You’re so sweet!~
~Wait! Did you just read my mind?~
~Uh…yeah I did. I’m sorry. I forgot to tell you about this. I just— ~
~It’s okay,~ he interrupted. ~I’m just in love with you even more now!~
*Ariel unconsciously laughed out loud*
The girls exchanged weird looks, but the guys shrugged it off while the girls wondered for a little bit. Pastor Davis also gave a weird look while having a smirk on his face after the song ended.
“Oh sorry,” Ariel said.
“Yeah, please forgive us,” Keon apologized.
“It’s cool,” said Pastor Davis. “It looks like you got it goin on with your girl.”
*Ariel giggled under her breath*
“Yeah,” Keon chuckled.
“Is she the one?” Pastor asked Keon.
“Yes sir,” he answered.
“What about you sista? Is he your knight in shining armor?”
“Yes sir,” she said.
“Well alright! Let’s get you two married.”
*Keon and Ariel nodded in unison, then grabbed each other’s hands*
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today on this beautiful beach to Keon Aiko Lewis and Ariel Himeko Pax together in holy matrimony. If anyone objects this marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace.”
*Trey started to slowly raise his hand just to mess with Ariel, and it caught her eye*
*She decided to give him a mean look* “I’m gonna cut you!” she mouthed.
*He quickly put his hand down*
“Thank you!” she mouthed with a smile.
“I suggest you don’t do that again,” Monty whispered.
*Trey gave him a blank look*
“Just sayin,” Monty added.
“I agree,” whispered Pastor Davis.
*Trey’s mouth dropped open, then Monty, Keon and Ariel began to laugh while the others looked lost*
“Nobody? Okay let’s move on….Now, Keon and Ariel will read their poems that they have written for each other….Go ahead. Don’t be shy now.”
*They both laughed*
“Ladies first…” Keon said.
*Ariel giggled* “Well, I wrote this poem called ‘You’. I hope you like it.”
“I’m sure I will.”
It was always all about me.
My job, my plans, my time…
That’s all I cared about.
I only needed myself to get me through my life.
Now I’m just discovering life,
How magical it is because of all you are.
These days, I wake up,
And I’m amazed how much I want to give
Since you touched my heart.
It wasn’t luck.
It wasn’t fate.
There’s just one reason my world’s changed…
It was you.
I want, I need,
I crave, I breathe,
I feel, I hold,
I dream, I know,
I trust, I love…you.”
“Wow. I’m not sure how I can follow that, but I’ll give it a shot,” Keon sighed.
“Well go ahead young blood,” Pastor encouraged. “Show her what you’re workin’ with.”
“I’m savin’ that for the honeymoon,” he said winking at Ariel.
*She laughed, started blushing, and held on to her bouquet of daffodils really tight*
“Ah suki suki now!” Pastor exclaimed. “Now son, you know you gotta get past this part before you get to the good stuff don’t you?”
“Sho’ you right.”
“Okay, well, my poem is called ‘Let Me Be the One’, and I hope you enjoy it.”
“I’m sure I will,” she said to herself.
*Keon took a deep breath before reciting his poem and nervously smiled at Ariel*
“Under the silver stars
Anywhere you are,
Near or far, you are close to me.
When you don’t understand,
And when you think nobody can,
I’ll be the friend and the hope you need.
I will be by your side
When you wanna break down and cry
I’ll make you promises you can believe.
For the kind of love you can trust,
For escape from hopelessness,
Don’t you know that you can come to me?
And I believe beyond
The setting of the sun.
At the end of the day,
My love stays for you…my love stays.
Let me be the one
Leading you through the night,
Sharing the smiles and tears you cry.
Let me be the one
Loving you when you’re weak
For all of the strength you need,
You can come to me.”
*Ariel tried not to cry too much, but she couldn’t help but to let out a few tears after hearing Keon say his poem* “Oh my God. I can’t believe you wrote that…”
*Steve reaches in his jacket pocket and gives her his handkerchief*
“Thanks,” Ariel said.
“No problem,” Steve whispered.
“You all right baby girl?” asked Pastor in concern.
“Yes, I’m fine. Thank you. Thank you all,” she said softly.
“No problem,” Steve said again.
*Keon wiped the tears from her eyes with Steve’s handkerchief* “Everything’s okay.”
“Are we all ready to continue?” asked Pastor.
“Yes sir,” Keon and Ariel answered.
~I’m glad I didn’t wear any make-up, otherwise I’d be jacked up,~ Ariel thought.
“Who has the rings?”
“I do,” Mikal and Samantha answered.
*Mikal gave Keon the ring for Ariel, and Samantha gave Ariel the ring for Keon*
“Keon, place the ring on Ariel’s finger.”
*Keon slid the ring on Ariel’s finger, and then held her hand and took her hand*
“Do you, Keon Aiko Lewis, take Ariel to be your lawfully wedded wife to love, honor, and cherish as long as you both shall live?”
“I do,” he answered.
“Now Ariel, place the ring on Keon’s finger.”
*Ariel happily slid the ring on Keon’s finger and then held his hand*
“Do you, Ariel Himeko Pax, take Keon to be your lawfully wedded husband to love, honor, and cherish as long as you both shall live?”
“I do,” she said with a nod.
“Now I pronounce you husband and wife. Well what you waitin’ on? Kiss your bride man!”
Ariel and Keon laughed. Then Keon lifted her veil, pushed her hair back, and kissed her passionately. Everyone cheered for them while they kissed. After that, the happy couple danced down the aisle to another one of Plus One’s songs called “Forever” which ended the ceremony.
When the song ended, not too far from where they were, there was a big building called La Pluma Negra, with a huge pool in front of it. This is where the reception was held…well, outside of the building. Anyone who wanted to could go inside to enjoy any activities that they had, or they could stay outside and either enjoy the sun or swim in the pool. There were plenty of other things to do outside, such as basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, golf, etc.
Before everyone went off to do their own thing, they gathered together to witness the bride and groom dance to “Who Am I?” by Plus One. After that, each family member got to know one another even more by playing some sports and communicating well with one another.
“It seems like everyone’s getting along,” Ariel noticed.
“Yeah, especially the guys,” Keon agreed.
“Uh-huh. I guess playing football really brings guys together.”
“And apparently soccer does the same thing to girls,” Keon said with a chuckle.
*Ariel laughed* “I’m glad that we’re one big happy family babe.”
“You are?” he said with a smirk.
*She gave him a firm playful hit on his stomach* “You know what I mean.”
*He laughed* “I know, I was just kidding.”
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too,” he said and then kissed her.
“Attention everyone!” Steve shouted from a distance, having all the guests staring directly at him and his fiancé standing next to him. “How are you all doing today!”
*Everyone cheered for a few seconds then someone handed him a microphone*
“Ah, that’s better,” Steve said into the mic. “Now, I have a little announcement to make. With me being owner of XBOX and Katelyn being part owner of PlayStation, we have decided to send the married couple to Paris, France, for their honeymoon on a private plane!”
*Everyone cheered longer than before. Then Keon and Ariel went over to Steve was*
“This is so nice of you guys to do this,” Ariel said.
“Yeah, you really didn’t have to do this,” Keon added.
“But I wanted to….You saved my life man. I owe you big time.”
“It was nothing.”
“Well, I just wanna let you know that I got your back…always.”
*They shook hands as the limo drove up*
“Thanks man. Same here,” Keon said.
“Now run along you two. Enjoy yourselves.”
“We will. See ya!” Ariel shouted while getting in the limo. All of their family got around the limo to say their goodbyes to Keon and Ariel before they left to go to the airport to ride on Steve’s private jet and head to Paris. Everyone will miss them, but it’s only for two weeks.
