Chapter 4

Maybe it’s time for you to tell me about these dreams. Those were the words Leo had spoken.

They now reverberated around in Camilla’s head causing her to blush.

Leo now sat watching her with his eyebrows raised in question.

Camilla looked down and fiddled with the end of her shirt. “I actually kind of thought you might have had them also.”

Leo frowned at that. “Why would I have them? Vampires don’t dream of their Geliebtes (beloveds), at least not that I know of. I believe I would have remembered dreams of you though. So, tell me about them.”

“They were all so vivid Leo, and you spoke to me, carried on conversations. It’s so odd to me that you didn’t have the dreams also,” she murmured. “Anyway, they started after my eleventh birthday. They all started out the same, with me in a bed so soft it could be a cloud. There’s a very muscular arm under my head and a male body behind me,” she giggled then as she reached out and gave his arm a squeeze. “This makes me very happy because, although I have no problems with slimmer men, I do tend to lean toward the more muscular ones.”

Hugging her tight against him, her bare back to his bare chest, he flexed his arm muscles a bit as he nipped at her neck. “Mm…that’s good to hear little one. Would you like to know what I like?”

“What?” She asked breathlessly.

“I like a woman with a bit of meat on her thighs, no bean poles for me.”

“Hm…you know, I should have been able to guess that,” she murmured.

“Oh? Why is that?” He asked as one of his hands moved down to rub along her thigh.

“Well, when I was about fifteen, my dreams changed a bit. Always before they were quite innocent. You would talk a bit and hug me tight. Then before you disappeared, I would turn my head to see your glowing eyes and fangs. As I did this, you always kissed my cheek.”

“So, what changed at fifteen?” He asked, curious.

“At fifteen, you started becoming a bit more…um…touchy. I always thought it weird though, because Shelly had this boyfriend, I think his name was Jamie. Anyway, she kept complaining how he was always finding a reason to “feel up her rack”, that was her words," she told him, rambling a bit.

“Feel up her rack? You mean her…?” He ran a hand over her chest.

“Yes, her boobs, and hers put mine to shame, trust me on this,” she said with a bit of a pout.

“So, I’m guessing you expected me to try and feel yours up, but I never did?”

“No, you didn’t. I mean, I was glad you didn’t because mine were pitiful at fifteen. I know you would have been disappointed in them since they were barely bumps.”

He chuckled as he palmed one. “Not so bad now though.”

“I guess not because they’ve had a bit of time to grow. Anyway, your hand would always run down across my rib-cage and stomach before moving to my thigh. Another weird thing though was that I always dreamed of myself in a nightgown. It never seemed to matter what I went to bed in, even shorts or pants, I always wound up in a gown. I always wondered if that was something you did,” she told him.

He tensed as a memory moved fleetingly through his head. “What kind of gown?”

She turned her head, looking thoughtful as her gaze met his.

“Um…I’m not sure of a color because it was always dim in the room, not dark though, like maybe there was a small lamp on. It must have been short though, because your hand always stopped halfway down my thigh. I would feel your hand on my bare leg, and sometimes you would slide your hand up under it to the top of my thigh, rubbing circles there,” she said, then stopped, sounding breathless. She then let out a little moan, her eyes slowly dilating.

“You liked that did you?” He whispered in her ear as he rubbed circles on her thigh now. He felt her muscle tighten and she moaned again. “Tell me the rest little one.”

She took in a ragged breath, then continued. “I also think it had spaghetti straps because I felt your lips when you would kiss my shoulder, like it was bare. You always kissed me there, even at eleven. It wasn’t until I was older though, that the feel of your cool breath on my skin drove me wild. It amped up my teenage hormones and pushed them over the edge!”

A memory once more moved in his mind, barely within his grasp. His hand brushing long red hair aside to kiss a woman’s shoulder. His hand then slipping over the soft, smooth skin of a thigh and gently squeezing it. Whispering the words “find me” before awakening with a fierce need.

He shook his head, trying to figure out where the image was coming from. “Finish telling me about these dreams little one.”

She tilted her head, looking confused, but she continued.

“So, at fifteen, you began telling me I smelled “delicious” when you would kiss my shoulder. You told me I smelled of peaches. When I told you, I wasn’t wearing anything peach scented, you laughed. You told me that for a vampire, it wasn’t about what I was wearing, but all about my natural scent. What does that mean?”

“A Geliebte will have a scent to draw her vampire to her, usually it is something he really likes. Your scent is that of peaches, which I love,” he told her. He then buried his nose in her neck which caused her to laugh and shiver.

“Ah, that explains it then,” she said with a slight nod. “Anyway, my teenage hormones were rampaging, so at eighteen they started to get the best of me. That’s when I got brave enough to ask you to kiss me, but…”

“But what little one?”

“You said no, that somethings were better done in person,” she answered with a pout.

“Was it worth the wait?” He asked close to her ear in a whisper.

“Mm…oh yes! Yes, it was. In fact, how about another?”

“After you finish telling me about these dreams,” he teased.

She huffed and lay her head back on his chest. “Fine. After you told me no, the dreams went back to shoulder kisses. As I got older, sometimes your hand would move further up my thigh. Sometimes it moved toward the inner thigh and squeeze.”

Once more, her breathing picked up and this time he caught the scent of her arousal.

“Oh Leo, you made me so, so, excited when you did that,” she whispered. “I would awaken wanting so much more!”

He grunted then as his memory finally cleared, and he saw it all.

Her head came up at his grunt, and she watched him.

“I had a dream once too. There was a woman in a short blue gown, her shoulders bare of anything but her beautiful red hair. I remember wanting her with everything in me. I remember telling her to “find me”, but she didn’t come. I remember feeling so empty and…heartbroken,” he told her in a whisper.

Her eyes widened, and she placed her hands on his face. “When Leo? When was this?”

He shrugged. “I don’t know. A few months ago, now I suppose.”

“Oh, Leo. The night before I left, I had another dream. That’s what gave me the courage to leave home. After that dream, when you asked me to find you, I went the very next morning and talked to my father. He’d been pushing me to take over the company, but I asked him to give me until my birthday to find my soulmate. I told my mother I wanted a love like theirs and I knew I wasn’t going to find it there! I was coming Leo, I was coming to find you!” She cried as her tears began to fall.

He turned her face to his shoulder before pulling her closer. He then murmured softly, “Oh, little one, don’t cry. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have given up so easily.”

She sniffled a bit then. “In a way, you didn’t though, or at least some part of you didn’t. In my dream of you last night you told me I was close, and that’s when I saw your blue eyes.”

“I remember you saying something about that.”

“If I hadn’t dreamed of you last night Leo, I-I think I would have packed it in and gone home. I was so discouraged and didn’t think I could go any further. I know my father gave me roughly six months and it’s only been four, but I guess I thought I’d go right out and find you easily,” she sighed. “I didn’t think it would take so long.”

“Well, I’m glad you didn’t give up my sweet Camilla,’ he said with a gentle kiss on her cheek.

“So am I Leo, so am I,” she agreed. She then gave a big yawn. “Excuse me.”

“Tired?”

“Yes. I’m sorry, I know I went to sleep on you earlier.”

“That’s okay little one,” he said, holding her close to him as he stood up. “Let me take you to my bed and let you sleep a bit before dinner time. While you sleep, I’ll go to the store, because my pantry is nearly empty.”

He lay her down on his unmade bed and took off her shoes. Next, he took her glasses off and lay them on his bedside table. Then, he pulled the blanket up and kissed her gently. He watched as her eyes fluttered closed and smiled.

“Leo?”

“Ja?”

“Your bed is,” yawn, “really soft. Just like a cloud,” she finished in a whisper.

“Ja, I know it is,” he answered. Then he slipped out the door leaving her to drift off to sleep.

Camilla woke up groaning. Her whole body hurt, which made no sense at all considering how fluffy soft Leo’s bed was!

Sitting up, she gave another moan and grabbed her head, which hurt badly. She then squinted at the clock because the room seemed so bright.

“Girl, what is wrong with you? Did you catch the flu sleeping in all those nasty motel rooms?” She muttered to herself as she found her glasses and slipped them on. “I’ll take a warm shower, then make myself some coffee, see if that helps any.”

So, stumbling from the bed, she headed for Leo’s private bath. After quickly stripping, she stepped into the shower. A moan of pleasure escaped her as the warm water chased away the chill and warmed her.

After her shower, she headed for the kitchen wearing one of Leo’s button up shirts and a pair of thick socks.

She found a note on the table and began to read:

“Dearest Camilla,

As I was about to leave my receptionist called me to remind me of an important meeting with a man that could only meet up with me today. I had forgotten all about it, so I’m heading to work to meet him now. Afterwards, I will go shopping for food which means I will be a bit longer then I planned. Make yourself at home because what was mine is now yours.

I’ll be back as quickly as I can.

Love, Leo.

Camilla whined childishly at the idea of him being gone longer. She really didn’t feel well and wanted him to cuddle her, and warm her because she was feeling cold again!

“Grow up Camilla, you aren’t two. You are perfectly capable of taking care of yourself when you’re sick,” she muttered to herself with a sigh.

So, thinking coffee might help, she open and closed cabinet doors until she found his coffee and filters for the pot. Soon, the scent of coffee filled the air as it began to perk.

Then she stood staring out the window into his back yard as she waited for her coffee.

When the coffee was done, she took it with her to the sitting room they’d been in before. Once there, she spotted the TV remote on the coffee table, and turned the TV on. She then pulled the throw blanket off the back of the couch onto herself, watching TV while she sipped her coffee.

The coffee was soon gone, so she snuggled into the blanket to wait for Leo to return.

She must have dozed off for a moment, and when she awakened she felt worse then she had earlier. Now she felt as if she were freezing, and her head was pounding!

So, moving as quickly as possible, she headed for the bedroom, her teeth chattering. She climbed into the bed, pulling the thick blanket up around her, hoping for some warmth. She had just managed to get comfortable when she heard the front door open.

“Camilla, I’m back,” Leo called.

Camilla whimpered, debating on whether she should crawl out of the cocoon she had just made for herself.

She heard Leo banging cabinet doors for a few minutes. Then all went quiet.

Suddenly Leo walked through the bedroom door. “Camilla? Are you okay?”

“I-I’m c-cold Leo!” She whimpered through chattering teeth.

He hurried to her side with a concerned look on his face.

“Oh, little one. I wouldn’t have left if I'd known you were…” his voice faded, and a puzzled look replaced the concerned one.

“W-what’s wrong?”

“The bond, but it’s only been a few hours. Usually it takes a couple of days apart for these things to happen,” he told her.

As she watched him, he kicked off his shoes before he crawled into bed with her. Next, he propped himself up against the head board, and pulled her into his lap, chest to chest. Then he wrapped the blanket over them.

She sighed with content, as she snuggled her face into his neck. Already feeling better, she asked, “What is a bond?

Leo sighed as he ran a hand over her back. “I told you about the scent, which is what initially draws us to our Geliebte. Sometimes though, a vampire, the male especially, can be extremely stubborn. Sometimes we will try to deny that we have found our Geliebte. When this happens, we might need a little push to do right by our Geliebte. For example, when Tobias found Kendra, he tried to deny her because she was a hunter.”

She raised her head to look at him. “A hunter? Oh, a VAMPIRE hunter! I remember reading about those in a book…although, I think they called them slayers in the movies. They’re your enemies, so I think I could understand his reluctance a bit.”

Leo shrugged. “They are only our enemies if we’re caught killing humans. Otherwise, they leave us alone for the most part. Although, there was a time that they killed us on sight because of what we are.”

“So, because she was a hunter, he didn’t want her?”

“Oh, he wanted her, badly! Sometimes though, fear takes over and we do stupid things. Like deny what our beast wants to claim as ours. That is what Tobias tried desperately to do, deny what the fates had blessed him with,” he told her. “Since fate knows how stubborn we can be, a bond was created. If the vampire doesn’t mark his Geliebte within a couple of days, she becomes sick. Chills, head and body aches, even vomiting.

“Little one, I will always be very protective over you, and at times so possessive you may feel like slapping me. It is who I am though and is in all vampire’s DNA, male or female. We were created to be that way toward our Geliebte. So, over protective creatures that we are, we can’t stand back and watch our Geliebte be miserable, it goes against everything in us.”

“How did Tobias do it then?”

Leo snorted. “He refused to look at her and refuse to touch her, until I forced him too. Fate took it from there.

“Mm…okay,” she murmured.

“So, since we don’t deal well with our Geliebte suffering, even the most stubborn of us will cave and mark them as ours. This takes all the misery away,” he concluded, then kissed her on her cheek.

“So, you think that’s what is wrong with me?” She asked as she once more pulled back and looked at him.

He shook his head. “It shouldn’t be though, even if it does sound as if it is. Camilla, these things shouldn’t happen unless we’ve been apart for a couple of days, not hours!”

She began chewing on her inner cheek as she thought about all he’d said. When I went to sleep I was fine. When I woke up I was cold and sore. Then she frowned.

“I feel fine now!” She told him as she realized she was no longer achy and cold.

“Well, as unusual as it is, that proves it is the bond,” Leo said with a smile. “So, now I need to ask you something Camilla.”

“What?” She whispered.

He looked at her, his eyes dark with something unknown to her. Lifting his hand, her brushed her hair behind her ear before speaking.

“How do you feel about me? I will admit love comes quickly for a vampire because he waits his whole life for it. When his Geliebte comes, he is complete. She instantly fills the emptiness inside and soothes the restlessness. I love you my sweet Camilla and for me there will never be another. So, will you accept me and be my love?”

“Oh Leo, do you know how long I have waited to hear you say you loved me? It seems like my whole life, well it practically has been!” She told him with a giggle. “The first time I dreamed of you, I knew you were real Leo. I knew you weren’t something made up in my eleven-year-old mind. I was yours from the first dream and I wanted nobody else, ever, and yes, somewhere along the way I fell in love with you too,” she finished.

Then, with a groan, Leo smashed his lips on hers!
