Preface

I kept my eyes on her. She did not move. Her muscles must have been hurting by now. She had stood, leaning against the wall with her arms folded, for at least two hours now. She hadn't even shifted her weight.

Only one thing moved; her eyes.

That was normal. Her eyes were always moving, always looking around, always seeing and never missing any detail. Yet they were glazed over like she couldn't see a thing, her face showed no indication as to whether she actually saw, understood or even cared about what was going on around her.

What was going on around her was an organisation. Sort of. We hunted creatures. I don't mean creatures; I mean vampires, werewolves, fairies and even leprechauns. Anything that wasn't human. As long as they broke the law.

In a way, we were the police for mythical creatures. And take them down ourselves if we had to.

Me, I was part werewolf and part centaur. Basically I can change into a half man half wolf form and as for the centaur part, well, I look like a human who spent a lot of time lifting weights. I had never lifted weights in my life.

"How long is she going to stand there?" My best friend Kale complained.

Kale was a full werewolf with some demon blood way back in his ancestry. He was big, dark and big. His muscles had muscles. His chocolate brown eyes against his dark skin made anyone who wanted to live back off. Yet he gave a puppy dog face that I had yet to see a woman refuse.

"Shut up baldy." For some reason his head just won't grow hair.

The woman that we were watching was Frost. Frost was not her name but that was what everyone called her. By everyone I mean the boss - Colman - the boss's boss - Solomon - or whoever had no choice but to talk to her.

She was beautiful. Long hair that hung like a waterfall made of lava, pale skin and smoky green eyes. She was anything but frosty. Even her personality wasn't frosty. It wasn't exactly warm either but... There were four things I knew about her.

1. She was immortal.

2. She could take down any immortal twice her size with her bare hands.

3. She could give Stephen Hawking a run for his money.

4. She was insane.

Drew C. Elyon: I've only read one chapter so far, but from what I've seen, this is steampunk at its best. The narrative flows so beautifully I could envision every scene in an almost cinematic fashion. I believe in the complexity of simplicity, and this story has that in its descriptions.

snowview03: This is the first book I have read on this app and I loved it! When I read the title I thought about the hunger games, but this novel is so much more. mray2174: I did like this story. I would totally recommend it to a friend, but it didn't seem like a book. Oh, d...

Katherine Drotar: Loved your story. it gripped me right from the first page and I couldn't put it down. You are a very talented writer. your main character was strong while still being emotional. Nanasha: I thought I'd written a comment on this story, but for some reason, I guess it didn't go through. Anyway, so this story is intensely addictive. I liked how the author uses established mythology but then gives it a unique twist. The idea of goblins all coming from the head of the king is an ama...

aaron10905: This is undoubtedly one of the best books written on here. I actually unistalled this app until someone told me about this story. I came back not expecting much, just to be drawn into the story and the characters. I would buy this book in real life, as long as another was promised shortly after.

Warren Bull: I thought this was a fast=paced thriller with elements of several other genres woven seamlessly in. It hooked me early and held my attention throughout. I liked the humor and surprises along the way. I really enjoyed the novel. I am not a big fan of romances or paranormal works, but when those ele...
