The Test

This is complete and utter bullshit. The line was way too long and I was tired of standing in it. All so people 21 to 23 could people sorted like we were in fucking Harry Potter. As the line slowly moved I turned and looked at my Dad.

“I told you we should have gotten here earlier. I’m going to burn out here”

He growled at me moving his dark black hair out of his blue eyes. I had to look up at him at 6’3 height. That was quite common for most people and the fact that he was a wolf shifter did not help much. Hence why he growled at me.

“Watch your tone. I had to make sure that the pack was taken care of before we left”.

I sighed and mumbled an apology. There was no point in trying to argue back. It would end with me submitting and making a fool of myself in front of all of these people.

I could be at home relaxing or even training with the other wolves which my father did not really improve since I had been given the Power Restraining shots also known as PRS. They kept powers from developing and knowing what group the person will be sorted too. I was ten when I first got that shot, not by choice, but there is nothing that I could do about that now. However, since I basically had no powers because of the shot and until I got counteractive which was only given out on the government on testing days, it made fighting with wolves extremely dangerous. However, I thought that it was extremely smart. The fact that I could keep up proved how strong I was even without my powers.

After another 30 minutes in line, we finally were up in the front. The guard stared at me closely and then asked for my name.

“Siren Walker”.

“Have you ever had a PRS”.

“Yes”.

“Please move to this line, so that you can take the contractive and then you may be tested”.

The line was short and it took me 5 minutes to reach the front once again this time having to walk down a medical hallway. The room I was left in was quite small and not soon after a doctor arrived.

“Good afternoon Ms. Walker I’m here to give you your counteractive shot”.

“I hope you seeing this is what I’m sitting in the room for”.

“Hmmm, I bit of an asshole aren’t we”. He reached for the shots and pulled on gloves.

“Yeah, it’s a family trait. I get it from my father”.

He chuckled lightly and proceed to stick my arm. “You won’t get your powers back admittedly, but we will still be able to test you”

A weird sensation came over me and he pulled the needle out and slapped a bandage on.

“All done”

“Thanks”

I was then moved to the Testing line. It leads to a stage where we all would be publicly listed our power being projected on a screen along with our names. As I got closer my heart beat began to speed up. Something was going to happen. I wanted to run, but that was never like me, so instead, I kept going up in the line. Next thing I know I’m walking across the stage. People in the stadium are loud. Most are those who have been tested and sorted. They are celebrating with families and friends not really paying attention to the stage. I breathe a sigh of relief at least people are not staring. I take a deep breath and walk over to one of the machines sticking my index finger like it indicates and not soon after it pricks it. Blood pools and lands on the glass. I pull out my finger and close my eyes and wait for the results. The machine pings and it suddenly gets really quiet and I open my eyes slowly. The screen shows a picture of me and next to it says: Goddess.

“You have to be shitting me” I mumble.
