It was behind her and it was gaining fast.
She misstepped on the soft forest floor and nearly went down. Correcting herself she hung a sharp left and kept going.
She didn’t know how far ahead she was but she didn’t want to stop and find out. She had to get away and get back to the cave and to him. She had save him. He would be asleep by now and if the shadows were coming for her they were coming for him.
Another sharp left and past a few trees and suddenly Terra, princess of the Kingdom of Sol, found herself standing in a clearing filled with wild red flowers and a stream that flowed directly through the middle of it.
Terra came to a halt, slipping on the rain slicked wild grass.
She knew the shadow was closing in behind her but it didn’t matter now.
Standing in the field before her, larger than she’d ever seen it, was the monster that haunted her dreams every night. The monster that had destroyed her life.It stood, leering at her as the shadow behind her finally closed the distance between them
