Views From Him

Watching her stand by the window with her hands pressed up against the pane was like watching a wolf looking out over its territory. She didn’t know I was watching her but I always was. My restraint against her was weakening every second I spent near her.

She was breaking me. Piece by piece.

Coming here last night was a mistake. I had shifted and found myself on autopilot. I ended up here out of all places. It was just a mere coincidence that her power went out. I wasn’t expecting her to open the door for me or let me in but she did. Her body and mind must be reacting to the bond. She can’t get enough even though her human instincts tell her that I’m a stranger.

The bond works on everyone. No matter what you are.

This past month I’ve been trying to figure her out. Trying to pry into her life to see what I can find out. When I stare at her, it’s like I’m transported into another world where it’s just her and I. I can’t look away.

I’ve been following her since the first day she got here. Our town isn’t full of the best people. I’ve found out pieces about her here and there. When she comes home from work, she instantly makes a pot of tea and settles down with a book. She reads until her eyes get droopy and the book falls to the floor. Seeing her like that makes me smile. She’s passionate.

She wakes up about 20 minutes later where she gets up and makes herself dinner. Her favorite meal is spaghetti, she makes it every other day. She’s dedicated.

When she is done eating, she washes her dishes and then proceeds to strip in the middle of her living room. That’s where I turn my head, I won’t take advantage of her like that. I want to see her fully when she wants me to. I have all the time in the world.

That particular night after she had settled in bed, Drew decided to make himself known. I watched his dark brown wolf stalk from the forest towards her door. That wolf didn’t know when to quit. He knew she was mine. Everyone did but he continued to push me.

He was going to get himself killed.

In his muzzle he held a single white lily. Her favorite.

I couldn’t hold back the growl that escaped from my jaws.

He glanced in my direction in the woods adjacent to her home. I knew he could smell me. My pheromones were strong. I wanted them to be.

His ears flattened on his head in some kind of respect towards me.

Disgusting.

He dropped the lily from his muzzle on her porch before dashing off to where he came from.

Making sure she was still asleep, I carefully made my way through the deep snow to retrieve the lily. There was no way I’d let her see that to be reminded of him. She needed to think about me. Me only.

Retreating back to my spot in the woods, I tossed the lily into the pile that was stacking up. I would need to burn it soon.

Settling down on the ground with my head between my paws, I turned my attention back to her.

She was tossing and turning in her bed. My name was constantly thrown from her lips. Her turn for tonight. I would suffer tomorrow night.

I could smell her want and desire. I wondered if she had stained her panties with her essence while thinking about me?

I needed to go. The beast within me was awakening and wanted so desperately to claim what was his and get all of these desperate males away from her.

Turning my back, I inhaled deeply. Her second heat was coming. I needed to stake my claim. Soon.

Dashing back home that night, my mind couldn’t help but to wander back to the night I found Drew on top of her. I have never wanted to kill someone so badly. But I couldn’t.

If I killed someone of my own blood, I would be killed as well. He wasn’t worth it.

Her first heat had drawn him to her. Add in alcohol and drugs that were floating in his system, his wolf was happy to have someone like her underneath him. I hadn’t meant to throw him into the wall like that but my instincts took over. He had touched her. His fingers were inside of her.

She enjoyed it. But I knew that it was because of the wolfsbane that had been hidden in her cup. She was willing. Not on her own accord though.

I couldn’t come to the café many days after that. His scent was inside of her and I couldn’t take that. Watching her sleep that night and morning was hard. I so desperately wanted to rid her of his retched scent. But I couldn’t. I needed to resist and make sure the wolfsbane ran its course.

When she touched me when she woke up, I was in heaven. Her resistance to me was slipping. The bond was too much. Her body craved to touch me. I let her.

Kissing her wasn’t on my agenda but her heat was overwhelming to my senses. I needed a taste. She tasted like alcohol still. Like whiskey.

Kissing her had sealed my fate. The Moon Goddess would stop at nothing to finally have us together. She was doing a hell of a job since I had ended up on her couch.

Inhaling now while watching her at the window let me know that her second heat was in progress. It wasn’t as strong as the first but was still present. I don’t think she had any idea the kind of pheromones she was releasing. To male wolves, it calls out to them that this female is unmated and needs to be breeded. To me, it says that I needed to mate her.

Immediately.

“Kyros..I know you are watching me.” Her voice was airy and light. It made me smile. I loved the way she said my name. It made it sound exotic. I would never tire of her saying her but I couldn’t help but wonder how she would sound moaning it?

Getting up from my position on the couch, I made my way over to her. The cold from outside was seeping through my thin socks. Wrapping my arms around her small waist, I settled my chin on top of her head. I loved how short she was.

I could feel her relax into me. “Beautiful isn’t it?” I knew my how my morning voice affected her. I felt her heart rate pick up and a slight shiver run through her body. Her heat affected how she reacted to me as well. I was taking advantage of her vulnerability.

“Yes. It is.” Her tone was short. I think she’s trying to focus on why she can’t resist me. On why she’s letting a complete stranger touch her.

She broke away from me. My wolf let out a whine at the loss of contact.

She turned towards me, her face was contorted with confusion. “Kyros..what’s going on? Why do I feel like this towards you? Why do I have the need to let you have your way with me? Why do I allow you to touch me even through I don’t know a thing about you? Why do you stare at me like I’m the most precious thing in the world?”

I couldn’t help but let a small smile reach my face. She was exasperated and worn out. I had the one answer she was looking for but the time wasn’t right. It wasn’t even close to being time for that. I wanted to get to know her. I wanted her to confide in me. I would have to take this the way the humans did. One step at a time.

I shook my head. “I don’t know Eva but I know what you’re talking about.” I took a step towards her. “Maybe it’s..love at first sight? But what I do know is that I can’t get you out of my mind Eva.” Another step. “Do you feel the same?” She nodded. I was right in front of her now. I tilted her head up to mine. My urges wanted me to kiss her but I refrained.

Her eyes were on my lips. Her heat is telling her that she needs me. “Don’t. Resist it.” She seemed to snap out of her daze. “Since you don’t know me..how about we get to know each other..? Doesn’t look like we’re going anywhere soon.”

Her eyes peeked up at me like a timid mouse and she nodded her head. “I’d like that.”

Taking her hand and leading her over to the couch, I sat us down and looked into her eyes. “Ask me anything.”

She was playing with her hands now. A sudden shyness had swept over her now. “C’mon Eva..this is your chance.”

She looked up at me. “Why do you stare at me?”

Because you’re my mate and you’re the most beautiful woman in the world. But I couldn’t say that.

“Because you’re beautiful Evathia and I want to discover who you are.”

She didn’t seem pleased with my answer but continued nonetheless. “How old are you?”

I chuckled. If only she knew how old I actually was. My aging had stopped around 23 or so. “23. 24 in December.”

She nodded. “Why do you come into the café everyday?”

For you.

“Well, I’ve always gone there ever since I was small. My parents would bring me along with them and I’ve always loved it so I continued the tradition.” That seemed like an acceptable human answer.

“What’s your whole name?” I knew hers. It matched her perfectly.

“Kyrosian Ellias Liakos. It’s a mouth full.” I chuckled. I always secretly hated my full name.

Her eyebrows raised high. “You are Greek as well?”

I nodded. I knew she was as well. The Moon Goddess did that on purpose.

Our game continued like this for awhile until she complained that she was hungry. I had given her everything she asked for while protecting my true nature. She seemed to warm up to me very quickly, cracking jokes here and there.

“Do you know how to make spaghetti?” I asked. I knew this would make her happy.

“Hell yeah I do. It’s my favorite.” She bounded up from her seat next to me and made her way to the kitchen.

I followed her while breathing in her alluring scent.

Sitting at one of the seats at her kitchen island, I sat back and watched as she rushed around the kitchen gathering ingredients and pots and pans.

Happily watching my mate as she bustled around the kitchen, my nose was suddenly assaulted with an unfamiliar scent.

What was worse that it was of Alpha nature and it was getting closer.

It was potent and powerful.

Like mine.

I was the only Alpha for miles. There shouldn’t be anyone on my territory nor was I expecting any guests.

I stood up abruptly, almost knocking my chair over in the process. This caught the attention of Eva. Her voice rang out towards me. “Kyros, what’s wrong?” She had set the pan she held in her hand down and was making her way to me.

“Are you expecting anyone here?” I needed to know if she had invited any of her previous friends here. If not, I would gladly get rid of the threat.

She opened her mouth to speak. “N– Wait.” She suddenly stiffened and a name passed her lips.

“Vincent.”

If I hadn’t had enhanced hearing, I would’ve missed it.

Vincent Kiplar was the Alpha from the Revenge Pack down in Texas. An arrogant, self-centered son of a bitch that didn’t respect any boundaries set by anyone. In the South he was feared but here in North, this was my territory and he knew it.

My biggest concern was how was my mate involved with this ruthless prick?

“How do you know him?” She looked genuinely scared.

Fuck. My eyes.

Closing my eyes, I willed myself to calm down. “Answer my question.”

“He’s a friend.” I looked at her and she was looking down at her feet.

“Come here. I’m gonna open the door and you’re going to stand behind me okay?” She tilted her head in confusion but came slowly over to me. I pulled her into my chest and tried to rub some of my scent on her. He needed to know that she belonged to me. I couldn’t help but to lean down and gently brush my lips against hers. She didn’t resist.

Satisfied with my work, I grasped her wrist and made her stand behind me. Using my other hand, I pulled open the door up as he was making his way up the steps. Our eyes connected and I could see his wolf rise up behind his irises. I hoped he could see mine as well. I could feel Eva press up against my side and I wrapped my arm that held her wrist around her waist bringing her closer.

I flicked my eyes to her and then back to him with a sinister look in my eyes. Eva was mine.

His chest was puffed out and his stance readied for a fight. I wasn’t going to fight him unless he came near her. The aura surrounded him was dangerous. I didn’t know what to expect.

He looked down at her wrapped around me and bared his teeth. I could see his canines descending and I could feel my gums tingling signifying the arrival of mine as well. This wasn’t the time.

“Stop.” My simple command halted the lowering of his canines and mine as well.

“Why are you in her home?” His voice was muffled due to his canines but I heard him loud and clear.

“She can invite anyone she wants in her own home.” I could feel my wolf preparing himself. For what I wasn’t sure.

He looked at her again. A growl almost slipped from my lips. He doesn’t deserve to look at her. “Evathia. Come here. Get away from him.”

She didn’t move. She knew she belonged to me.

His claws were beginning to take place of his fingernails. Eva couldn’t see this.

Making sure that he could see us but she couldn’t see him, I angled my body strategically and looked down at her. “Eva. Go back inside please.”

She motioned for me to stoop down and so I did. She searched my eyes for a moment before crashing her lips against mine. I could feel everything she was pouring into the kiss and I happily returned it. It ended quickly but not before she turned my head to the side and whispered in my ear.

“You’re just like him.” With that she turned and walked back inside, disappearing into her bedroom.
