Chapter 16

I followed him out the room glaring at his back the entire time, “Where are we going?” I asked him, still glaring.

“Just because I can’t choke you from afar doesn’t mean I still won’t choke you. So, to answer your question... shut the hell up and follow.” he answered without turning around. I sighed, he was such a jerk.

As we rounded a corner, I felt myself stiffen. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing at attention. It felt like someone was watching us. And from past experience knew that wasn’t a good thing. I turned around looking down the hall but saw no one. Shrugging I turned back around to follow Thanatos, only to run into his back.

“What the-? Why did you stop?” I asked him.

“Something is off... stay behind me,” he moved me behind him, I felt fear grip me. We were in his house what could be happening that he didn’t know about? Could the guy from the street be back?

We walked slowly towards some double doors. He held up a hand for me to stop moving. As he went to push the doors open, I could feel someone breathing on the back of my neck. Before I could turn, a hand covered my mouth. I tried to scream but the hand muffled it. They started dragging me back and that’s when Thanatos finally turned around. He frowned, then his face broke out into a grin. The heck? I’m getting kidnapped and he laughs?

“Thor you sneaky little sh-“Thanatos started before I cut him off. My mouth was released as soon as he started talking.

“Thor!? Are you kidding me? Is this place just full of strange gods?” I screamed out yanking myself from his grip. He looked at me in surprise, while I glared at him, “You couldn’t have just walked up like a normal person and said hi?” I raged.

He smirked at me, “Feisty are we?” I glared at him but couldn’t help but check him out. His short blonde dark hair and rough look would make any girl fall to their knees before him, including myself. I blushed at my thoughts, which made Thanatos glare at me. As if he knew exactly what I was thinking. Did he know what I was thinking? I wasn’t sure how this whole dead thing worked.

“Gods?” he questioned. I frowned at him in confusion, before realizing my mistake. My eyes widened before I looked at the ground. “Isabel! What other gods have you met?” he yelled at me.

“I can’t say.” I finally looked him in the eyes. I wouldn’t rat on Erebus and Artemis. He stared right back, and I could feel the tension between us crackle like a whip. His heated stare was making me feel weird. I licked my lips and his eyes darted to my mouth. I felt my heart rate pick up.

“I hate to interrupt you two basically having mind sex in front of me, but this is getting a little too awkward for my taste.” Thor interrupted breaking us out of our trance. Thanatos glared at him, while I just blushed. Who says things like that!

“Fine don’t tell me, but when I find out their punishment will be that much worse.” he turned back towards the door. I followed with Thor following behind me. I could feel him staring at my butt as we walked. I turned giving him a glare. He looked up winking at me.

On the other side of the door was an office. Sat at the desk was this gorgeous woman. Her hair was platinum blonde and she had full red lips. She was sitting with her legs crossed smiling at us, mostly Thanatos. I was instantly jealous of her and her beauty. Is she someone close to Thanatos? Girlfriend maybe? And why do I care so much?

“Thanatos! my favorite god to what do I owe this visit? You only come around when you want something. We have a lot in common you and I,” she said smiling at him. He just rolled his eyes.

“We are nothing alike Persephone.” he replied. I felt my brows furrow in confusion. Persephone? As in the Hades wife? Shouldn’t she be in the underworld or something?

“You keep telling yourself that, you’re basically like my son. But I wouldn’t have such thoughts about my son that I have now with you in those jeans.” she told him, seductively licking her lips. Thor and I might as well not exist, she still hadn’t acknowledged our presence. He ignored her before grabbing my arm and pulling me forward. I almost tripped over the carpet.

“We have important matters to discuss.” he said.

“What’s so important about her?” Persephone asked, looking me over with disgust in her eyes. I narrowed my eyes at her. Sure I don’t match her beauty, but I wouldn’t say I’m that ugly. Especially not with these recent changes.

“I could ask the same about you.” I told her. I heard Thor let out a low laugh, Thanatos had a small smirk on his face.

“Learn your place little girl, you do not want to get on my bad side.” she sneered at me, getting up from her chair.

“Well,” I licked my lips, “from my view that looks like the only side you have.” I smirked. This time both Thanatos and Thor burst out laughing.

“Man, I think I’m in love.” Thor said.

She let out this weird screech like sound before launching herself at me. My eyes widened, my arms shot out to protect myself. I closed my eyes waiting for impact.

After a few seconds when nothing happened, I opened them. Around me was this purple bubble. It rippled like water as Persephone beat against it. What the? Thanatos frowned at it while Thor looked at it in awe. I was starting to panic. I couldn’t hear anyone, and I didn’t know what this was around me. I reached forward to touch it and it started wrapping itself around my finger. I instantly pulled my hand back. I looked to Thanatos for help.

“What’s going on?” I yelled towards him. His mouth moved but I couldn’t hear a word he was saying. Slowly he started walking towards the bubble. Pushing Persephone out his way, he stood in front of it.

“Don’t just stand there help me!” I screamed. I saw him take a deep breath before he extended his hand out to the bubble. I thought it was going to stop him like it did Persephone, but he slowly passed through it.

“What’s happening?” I asked the moment he was in it. It seemed like the bubble expanded to give him room as he fully came in.

“It’s a shield.” he stated.

“Did you do this?” I asked.

“Well who did? Tell them to let me out!” He grinned at me.

“You did this.”

He walked around me, studying me. “That’s a good question, how do you feel right now?”

Only thing I was feeling was freaked out, “I’m scared.”

“That’s it?”

I tried relaxing myself to see if I felt anything else. Underneath the panic there was this vibration flowing through me. My whole body was buzzing. “I feel something.”

“Ok focus on that. Whatever is happening to you must be coming from that.” I did what he told me. Closing my eyes, I focused on the vibration. Slowly it went from a vibration to a low hum. I could now hear her throwing insults at me from the other side. I can control this thing? Did I want the bubble to go away though? It doesn’t look like Persephone has calmed down at all.

“I think I got it.”
