Chapter 34

“Why are we at a club?” This wasn’t a normal club, everyone in here was exotic looking. Hair of all different colors, and piercings everywhere. Everyone seemed to have this dark aura around them. They glared at me as I walked through. They knew I didn’t belong here.

“Why are you asking questions? You invited yourself.” He started walking faster through the crowd, as if he were trying to lose me. Which I’m sure he probably was. I rolled my eyes as I jogged to catch up with him.

“Well had I known you were coming to a place like....” I trailed off as some big guy with blue hair glared down at me. Was it a crime to look at people now?

Thanatos looked back at me with a smirk. “Is there something wrong with this place Isabel?” He asked. I just shrugged. Nothing wrong with this place for his kind, but this was not a hangout spot I’d choose.

“Why are we here?” Hopefully he’d answer this time.

“I need to speak with someone.” I waited for him to tell me more, but after a long stretch of silence I figured he was done.

I opened my mouth to speak when we suddenly stopped at a door, that was being guarded by two huge bodyguards. One guy had a spikey red Mohawk while the other had a matching green one. Ok then.

“Thanatos, fancy seeing you here. Can’t say the boss will be pleased.” Red Mohawk greeted.

“I could care less what your boss would be pleased with. Now move aside I have business to attend.” He didn’t seem intimidated by these guys at all. While I on the other hand was shaking in my boots, two seconds away from clutching his shirt. There was just something about big guys that made them intimidating.

The man growled while green Mohawk went inside. Seconds later he came out and held the door open for us. Thanatos strolled in as if he owned the place. I tried to match his confidence, but my eyes were wandering all around the room. Just in case anymore guys with mohawks was hanging around.

“I’d say it’s a pleasure seeing you, but it’s not.” A voice spoke from behind a chair. He was facing the opposite direction from us in the middle of the room. Who does he think he is the godfather?

“The feeling is mutual. This isn’t a social visit I need answers about something.” Thanatos took a seat on the other side of the desk while I just stood in the middle of the room. The man in the chair slowly spun around (again godfather much?) and I had to hold my breath. He was so handsome. Maybe even better looking than Thanatos, glad he can’t hear my thoughts. He had his black hair gelled back and a smooth strong face, if that makes sense.

“I see you’ve brought company.” I was staring so hard that I didn’t even realize his attention was on me. I blushed, out of the corner of my eye I saw Thanatos roll his eyes.

“Never mind her, let’s get on with this.” The guy gave me a sweet smile before focusing back on Thanatos.

“What do you need?” He asked in this velvety smooth voice. Is it just me or is it hot in here? I stood there mesmerized. Unconsciously I took a step forward, towards him.

“First, I need you to stop using your charms on Isabel. Second, tell me all you know about the Phoenix.” I was confused, what did he mean by using charm on me? Suddenly everything became clear as the guy focused all his attention on Thanatos.

“Why do you need to know about that? It’s a myth forgotten centuries ago.” The guy leaned forward on the desk. Intrigued by what Thanatos was telling him.

“For personal matters.” Thanatos replied.

“And by personal do you mean the tattoo that’s on your lady friend neck? I felt the magic soon as she walked in.” His eyes went to me and I froze. How does he know about my tattoo? “Would you mind showing me?” He asked sweetly.

“Yes, I would.” I was finally able to find my voice. He only continued smiling which creeped me out more. Can’t believe I thought this weirdo was hot.

“Very well then,” He flicked his fingers and the hair around my neck flew up revealing my mark. Great should’ve known he had powers. “ah very interesting.”

“What do you know about it?” Thanatos asked again.

“Well I know it shouldn’t exist. Not after all this time.” That sounded like great news. Note the sarcasm.

“Well it does and I’m not sure why.”

“It’s obvious isn’t it?” The guy asked.

“If it were obvious, I wouldn’t be wasting my time with you.” Wow he really knows how to get a person to help him.

“She’s destined to die soon and someone much stronger is going to take her place.”

“Wait what?” I didn’t want to die. Is this man crazy? Why am I asking? of course he is!

“It’s true, the last time that tattoo appeared on someone they died two days later. How long have you had it?”

“She just got it today.” Why does Thanatos sound like he believes him? This guy was clearly off his meds. For his information I already died. And I think Thanatos would know if I was going to die again. Your life would really have to suck to die three times in one year.

“Well, spend as much time with her as you can.”

“Who the hell do you think you are? Telling me I’m going to die soon.” I screamed at him. If Thanatos wasn’t going to say anything then I will.

“I’m Loki.” He smiled at me.

“Loki?” Didn’t ring a bell.

“Let’s go Isabel, thanks for your time Loki.” Thanatos grabbed my hand and started dragging me out of the room.

“He’s clearly wrong.” I stated soon as we left the club.

“That’s the problem Isabel...“He turned to me with a tortured look on his face, “he’s never wrong.”

“How could someone never be wrong? That doesn’t sound right. Plus, wouldn’t you know if I was dying or not? You brought me back, therefore you control when I die right? You are the god of death after all.” I argued.

“I did bring you back, but ever since you died something changed. I can’t see your death, just like I blocked it from Jeremy it seems it’s blocked from me now. Which means I’m not going to be the one that kills you. Which should be impossible, but so far everything about you is impossible.”

“What do you mean blocked? Is there another god of death or something? You should know when I’m dying! If Loki knows then why don’t you?”

He shrugged. “Must be one of his powers, I’m not too sure about the Norse gods. They view things differently from us.”

“Norse gods?”

He nodded. “Loki is a god, but from another planet.”

“So, you honestly believe there’s a chance he’s right? I’m going to die soon and not even you know why or how?” he nodded. Well this suck.
