Party foul

My eyes remain locked on the mystery guy whose nature I can't place. His lithe body wore the suit he had on well, his shiny polished shoes clicking against the concrete as he walked. Beside me, Farrah and the twins are all mute, the newcomers causing a silence that I hadn't experienced since meeting any of them. My eyes carefully track them as the make their way toward us, noting that tall dark and handsome also has his eyes on me.

"Good evening ladies," instant goosebumps, "allow me to introduce myself and my friends here. These are my friends, Drew Lawson and Dave Miller." Both guys nod their heads in response to their names. Drew had a mop of messy blonde curls falling about his face and ever so often he'd drag his hand through in an attempt to tame it. Dave on the other hand had dark brown hair that was swept to the side and not a strand was out of place. Both guys could probably be models on the cover of magazines if they wanted to.

"And I'm Asher. Miller." He said it in a way that would indicate that we should know who he was without question. No one here knew that both Farrah and I had only just come from the institute so we would have no idea if he was indeed famous or something.

Leave it to Farrah to ask the hard questions. "Should we know who you are or something? Cause I can tell you right now, we don't." At this, the twins have finally found their voice if the gasps they let out is any indication.

"Are you insane? That," they both point to Asher, "is the son of Gregory Miller. Their family is the oldest pure blood family on this continent." Both Farrah and I turn to look at him once more. With this new information I could understand the aura now.

Unlike hybrids, who are plentiful, pure bloods are few and far between. There are only like a dozen pure blood vampire families on this side of the globe, and apparently his is the oldest of them.

"Sorry, we're new here and we don't know any of the people here tonight or their family history yet." He waved it off like it was no big deal. This close up, I could see his eyes had a red tint to it causing my heart to race. Red eyes on a vampire or even a hybrid would indicate regular blood consumption. There was nothing wrong with it really, it was in our nature, it's just that most preferred not to. I had honestly never met anyone who did before. Before I could ask an embarrassing question, how does blood taste, or some other messed up thing, the door opens once again, this time my grandfather walks out.

"There you are, sorry to take you away but your grandmother is looking for you both." He goes back inside, probably expecting that we would follow behind him. I stand, pulling Farrah along with me. "Please excuse us, duty calls I guess." I say to everyone at large. Farrah waves goodbye to the girls and before I could open the door myself, Asher does it for me. "I'll be seeing you around Genesis, until then, be safe." I stumble through the doorway, Farrah not too far behind. Did it suddenly get hot in here?

Turns out we weren't needed after all. She was only trying to locate us to make sure we were ok. Now, with the auction done, this portion of the evening was more for the youngsters than the adults. Music more suited for our age group filtered out of the overhead speakers which prompted dancing from the more free spirited kids. I was not one of them. Unfortunately, Farrah was. After many failed attempts at getting me to join her in the jerky movements she made with her hands and legs, I was nothing but thrilled when Melody and Lyric came over and were happy to enjoy the music with her.

Sitting on an abandoned chair, I looked on as my best friend had the time of her life. Her laughter made it's way to my ears and I couldn't help but smile. So caught up in her antics on the dancefloor, I hadn't noticed the bodies moving closer to me off to my right until I heard someone clear their throat. When my eyes landed on Echo's, I had to remind myself that he was in a relationship. Honestly it wasn't that hard since Eteneia was glued to his side like a koala on a tree.

"Hi, we haven't been introduced yet, I'm-"

"Echo." I say before he can finish. I silently scold myself for sounding like a stalker and quickly trying to cover it up. "And that's Dennis and Ryan. And of course Eteneia. My new friends over there have been giving us a play by play on everyone." There eyes follow my finger in the direction of the three maniacs living it up on the dancefloor.

Chuckling slightly he says, "Ah, the Griffin twins. Well we were about to head out but we wanted to say a quick hello first. Our Chief couldn't make it tonight, he usually attends with the freshmen but he had alot more preparations that usual for the upcoming semester."

I am not going to lie, I could listen to him talk all day long. Wouldn't even care if he were saying actual words, just talk.

Snap out of it Gen. Come on!

"Oh yeah? Why's that? Are there more of you going off to the Academy than just you four?" That's it say more words just like that.

Ryan is the one who answers and I felt inwardly disappointed that it wasn't Echo. "Na, just us, but he's the head of the Academy, third year running, so he's just trying to ensure everything is perfect for the arrival of Mrs. St'Clair's kids." Dennis elbows him in the stomach cutting the wind out of him.

I couldn't help but laugh. "It's fine guys. You should tell Chief Cree not to go through too much, we're just normal students like any other."

"See, it's literally what I've been saying since he got that call. They're nothing special." For some reason when she says it it cuts a bit. I don't know what her problem is but she can definitely suck an egg.

"Uh, ok, I think that's our cue to leave." Ryan mumbles, both he and Dennis turn to leave. Eteneia looks me up and down, rolls her eyes and stalks off as well. "Sorry about her, she can be a bit of a brat sometimes. I'll be seeing you around though."

"Yeah, sure, no problem." Dammit Genesis, use your words. "Goodnight Genesis." The way he purrs my name, gah, so sexy.

"Goodnight sexy." Did I just...? "NO! Not you sexy. I meant goodnight, I'm sexy. No wait! Echo, goodnight Echo was what I was saying." Before I could embarrass myself further I turn and practically run across the room, no doubt my cheeks are aflame.

Why do I have to be such a freak all the time. Bury me now.
