Chapter Seven

As I stared at the girl looking back at me, it was easy to see that she was no longer depressed, considering how she looked last night.

"Stop smiling!" I yell at her while pointing my finger at her, which she returns.

"If you keep on smiling, they're going to figure out that you found your beloved." I tell her while leaning towards her, trying to glare at the idiot but then I just broke into a bright smile instead.

"Ugh!" I splash the water from the stream onto my face and quickly start scrubbing it with my hands. "You stupid, stupid girl." I mutter to myself while dragging my hands down my face.

I couldn't tell my family I found my beloved because then they'll want to know who he is then they'll find out that he's a werewolf and they mustn't know that. Well, not yet anyway. It's not like I'm ashamed of it or anything, I accept him in any shape or form, I just need to wait and see how they react to the pack at the stupid party and see if they like them. I couldn't keep this a secret for long though. I knew that much.

Just as I stood up, the sun broke through the clouds and a ray of sunlight landed on me. That wasn't good. I didn't have time to think about anything as I ran through the forest on my way back, besides the thought of getting hour ago.

I could hear their voices from inside the house as it came into view and I could tell they were freaking out, well all of them except for Demetri. How typical, he doesn't have a care in the world.

I started to quicken my pace to the house, but not as fast as I probably should've since as soon as I got to the stairs and through the door I was ambushed with questions, well more like yelling.

"Where have you been!?"

"Do you know what time it is!?"

"We were so worried!"

"Look at your clothes! Are you hurt!?"

Seriously? Such mundane things to fuss over. The last comment made me roll my eyes but I still ended up looking down at my clothes. They weren't even that dirty! Just a few specks of dirt here and there, but nothing major. I knew i had to answer them but I sure wasn't going to tell them the truth, so I decided to change the subject instead.

"Where's Damien?" I ask them.

"Excuse me miss, don't you dare try to change the subject" Annabelle says while pointing one of her slim fingers at me.

Changing the subject: Failed.

"Where the hell have you been Serenity?" Uh-oh. An angry Annabelle is never good. Time to pull out the waterworks.

"I-I was just-" I stuttered on purpose while my eyes started to water up. I started to make my lip tremble, just for effect. Just to make my little act more dramatic, I let out a sob and covered my face with my hands.

"Aw Serenity don't cry!" Annabelle cried while coming over to me in a flash trying to soothe me.

Operation Gain Sympathy: Success.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you. I was just worried, we all were." she said while rubbing my back in a circular motion.

Okay now I just feel guilty. Time for my little act to come to an end.

Making sure that the triumphant grin that I was wearing was gone, I started to slowly lift my head while wiping the non-existent tears from my cheeks. I gave her a small fake encouraging smile.

"It's alright, I just really don't want to talk about it" I say while looking at the floor because if I looked at her in the eyes I knew that the guilt I felt would overwhelm me and I would just start bearing my soul to her.

She gave me a tight hug "It's alright, you don't have to. I'm sorry for trying to make you." And there's that guilt again.

"And as for Damien, he left for your parents house not long after left last night" she said while looking at Emily for confirmation which she returned with a nod.

"Wait, if Damien left how come you didn't go with him Emily?" I ask her.

"I couldn't leave without knowing you were alright." she says while giving me a warm smile. Great, here comes some more guilt.

"Oh, I'm sorry for making you worry. For making you all worry." I say while looking from Emily to Annabelle.

"I wasn't worried." I look at Demetri and see him checking his nails.

"I know you weren't." I say with a roll of my eyes while hugging Annabelle and clinging to her side, trying to make the guilt I still felt go away.

She wraps an arm around me and gives me a small squeeze. I smile and close my eyes and start to snuggle closer to her which instantly made me remember my beloved making me freeze and for my eyes to snap open.

Noticing my change Annabelle looks at me with a questioning look. I recompose myself and give her a reassuring smile and shake my head, letting her know that it's nothing. She looks at me for a second to make sure I was telling the truth before turning around and leading us a both to the couch where Emily started to settle.

"So how come Damien went to mom and dads house?" I asked them as we settled down.

"Well that's what we need to talk about." Demetri says. He started to sit up properly in the chair he's sitting on.

"Mother and Father wanted all of us to be at the house today, but since you weren't here-which is completely understandable why you weren't" he quickly said when I started to glare at him "Damien decided to go and tell them in advance that we won't be coming until tonight."

"Tonight? Why don't we just go now?" I ask him.

"Just because you, my dear little sister, can stay up for days on end without even a wink of sleep and lounge yourself in the sun without a care in the world, does not mean that the rest of us can." Demetri said while getting up and waltzing on over to us with his hand outstretched to Annabelle.

"Now if you don't mind-well I don't really care if you do-but me and my love will now go up to your room and rest. Come my love." Annabelle's placed her hand on his without a second thought and stood up.

"Wait, my room? Why my room?" I ask incredulous. "There's a perfectly good bedroom next to mine! So use that one." I tell him with my arms crossed against my chest.

"Actually" I turn and see Emily starting to get up. "I already called it." She said with one of her warm smiles before going up stairs.

"Naw man, I thought she was gonna stay up with me." I say while kicking my legs up on to the couch so I was lying on it instead of sitting up straight. I thought Demetri and Annabelle were going to go up stairs not long after Emily went up so I was confused when I heard Annabelle.

"I'll be up there soon kaay, I just need to talk to Serenity about something." I opened my eyes and saw Annabelle with her hand placed upon Demetri's cheek. He gave her a questioning look but nodded in return.

"Then I shall be waiting for you in bed." He said while placing a loving kiss on her forehead. Right then I felt a pang of jealousy. How I wish I could be with my beloved right now!

Annabelle nodded her head and watched as Demetri ascend the stairs where the rooms are. when he was out of sight she turned towards me with a look I couldn't decifer.

"So...what's up?" I ask her getting straight to the point and quickly sitting up on the couch.

"Well, I could ask you the same thing." she said while crossing her arms and giving me a stern look.

"What?" I ask her, completely dumbfounded at what she's getting at. She stands there staring at me before she shakes her head and walks over to me.

"Okay then." she starts to say, dropping her voice so that it was only me that was able to hear her. "Why don't you tell me why you smell like a werewolf right now."

Oh shit. What the hell am I supposed to say to that! Wait, wait I know. Just act dumb. I'm good at that. I then scrunch up my face and look at her with a puzzled and what I'm hoping looks like a confused face.

"A werewolf? What does a werewolf smell like?" I ask with a tilt of my head and my voice the same volume as hers.

"Oh don't play dumb with me Serenity!" She says with her voice in a very threatening tone. "Unlike your brother and newly turned sister-in-law I have been around for years." She said with pride. Seriously, I wouldn't be proud of that if I were her. You see when Demetri met Annabelle she was already a vampire. She was turned in the 1800's, or something.

"So I have much better senses than the both of them put together." She then starts to make her way closer to me until shes towering over me as I sit there biting my lip trying to avoid making eye contact with her.

"Look Serenity, either you tell me now, or..." she then grabbed my chin and tilted my head so I was looking at her "I go and tell your brother this instant." she said with a smirk.

"Your evil, you know that?" I pulled my face out of her grasp and heaved a sigh.

"I found my beloved." I tell her. Her eyes grow wide with pure happiness. She starts to bounce up and down with excitement and then opens her mouth about to say something but I held up my hand for her to wait. She waits but keeps bouncing up and down. I look at her for moment and contemplate if I really should tell her.

Well it's too late now. I think bitterly.

"And he's a Werewolf."
