“Come on, Amethyst. Let’s take you outside.” I cooed to the beautiful dark horse in front of me, lightly caressing her jawline then gently grabbed the harness and led her outside the stables, to the closed pen.

Once she got in the pen, I let her loose and she started trotting along with the other horses around the fenced area, her black short hair shining in the burning sun, standing out among the others as she was the only black horse, the rest of them being all brown.

I then hopped on the fence and sat on it, watching Amethyst my favourite run around, while waiting for Kara to get back from the restroom.
It’s been three days since we started our work here, but she seemed rather distracted, constantly inventing some stupid excuses to bail on me and disappear, doing god-knows-what. It was very weird and it also started to bug me, since I was left to do mostly all of the job by myself. Not that I was mad at her, but she could’ve at least told me what was going on. I was her best and only friend, after all.

“Hey.” A deep, male voice greeted from behind me, causing me to startle and lose balance, almost falling on my back if it wasn’t for those big, strong arms quickly wrapping around my waist, holding me in place.

“Are you ok?” The same deep voice asked from behind, feeling his hot breath fanning on the side of my neck, quickly recognising the owner.

I slowly turned my head to the side and looked up, only to meet once again those deep, midnight blue eyes staring right back into mine.

“I’m...fine.” I replied unsure, feeling somehow uncomfortable at the sudden closeness, his chest pressed against my back, the burning heat of his body radiating through our clothes, reaching my skin. His hands were still resting on the bare skin on my waist as I chose to wear a cropped top this morning, making me inwardly slap myself for the bad choice.

I then quickly pulled myself out of his grip and hopped off the fence, turning around to face him.

“What do you want?” I then asked with obvious annoyance, the past three days causing me to act like this since he’d been constantly following me around, staring at me like I were an ex-convict and he was the cop, waiting for me to make a bad move.

I was already starting to get tired of this, I just wanted to be left alone so that I could do my job, undisturbed.

“Nothing, I just...”

“You just what? Following me around, to see if I didn’t ‘steal’ anything, or did something wrong?” I cut him off, crossing my arms, feeling already pissed off.

No response.

He just stood there, staring at me, not knowing what to do or say.
So I jumped on the other side of the fence,
“Just leave me alone...” I rudely mumbled, then hurried past him and walked straight back to the house.

I entered through the back door like the rest of the employees, then walked through the corridor to the right side, heading straight to our room.

Yes, Kara and I both shared a room with two separate beds, simple and dull, fitted for some simple workers. But we were totally happy with it, at least we had a place to stay with no one to bother us and a job to pay for the food and things we needed.

I stopped in front of our room, ready to turn the doorknob, but suddenly stopped in my tracks when I suddenly heard a...moaning?

What the fuck!!

I stood there for a moment, only to hear the loud moaning again.

Kara...I mentally whispered, staring wide-eyed at the door.

So that’s what she’s doing lately? Screwing someone here at the mansion? But who? I wonder, is it another worker...or someone else? What the actual fuuuck!

I shook my head in disbelief, then raced back through the corridor, heading to the kitchen.

Once I got in, I quickly poured myself a glass of cold water and gulped it down, trying to calm myself down a little.

But I was quickly snapped out of my thoughts as soon as I heard the kitchen door, making me aware that someone entered.

I quickly turned around, only to face once again those dark blue eyes.

“Logan, what part of ‘leave me alone’ didn’t you understand?” I yelled highly annoyed, slamming the glass of water on the island.

Only as soon as I finished that sentence, he was already standing right in front of me, those beautiful midnight blue orbs boring deep into mine, mixed emotions twisting inside them, ones that I couldn’t exactly read.

Rage? Hurt?...Lust?

Oh crap.

Before I could finish the yammering in my head, his hands slid around me, one around my waist and the other at the back of my neck, pulling me even closer, our bodies now fully pressed against each other as his full, soft lips instantly collided with mine, moving in a soft, passionate kiss.

I stood there shocked, unable to react in any way until he slowly pulled back and I quickly lifted my hand up, slapping him hard across the cheek, the sound of my palm hitting his cheek echoing through the whole room.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” I shockingly yelled, tears threatening to spill all over my cheeks, barely containing them.

He stood there shocked, not knowing what to do or say, but I never gave him the chance, because in the next moment, I bolted straight outside the house and ran back at the stables, hiding in a dark corner, letting my tears out.

How could he dare do that?
I will not be treated like a low whore. Never! I mentally screamed, wiping my tears with the back of my hand.
