It was finally starting to get dark out, and school had just let out. I never really understood why School lasted until 5 in the afternoon. But such is the life of high-school student, I thought to myself. I went into my room and quickly jumped into the shower, scrubbing off the soda that one of the popular girls decided to pour on top of my head at lunch.
I've always been picked on in school, but never have they poured a drink on top of my head. Sara Holbrook was the most popular girl in school, she and I have been through every grade together so far sharing only eight classes together in total. Back in elementary school she and I were best friends but now I don't know why she acts the way she does toward me, I don't ever remember doing anything to her to make her hate me so much. Oh well I thought to myself. I shook off the negative thoughts and got out of the shower.
As I stepped out of the shower I heard a scratching at the door, I walked over to the door and opened it and little Keo walked in. Keo was my black cat, he's a sweet as could be. I Leaned down and Pat him on his head and he started to purr. I smiled and walked over to my sink, trying to get the tangles out of my hair.
After what seemed like hours trying to get all the tangles out of my hair from that soda, I went to my room and plopped myself on my bed. I hollered for Keo and he came running up to my bed and jumped on my back. I looked back at him, " what are you doing you silly little thing?" I said with a chuckle. He slowly made his way up to my head and stuck his nose in my ear. I jumped in Surprise scaring him off the bed.
I turned around to face him, " I'm sorry baby I didn't mean to scare you, but that really tickled." I said as I laughed out loud. He stuck his nose up at me as he walked up to the window and jumped on to the edge. I got up off my bed and walked over to the window looking out to the trees that surrounded the house. The moon was full and it was beautiful, it lit up the whole sky and the Stars tried to shine down but could not be as bright enough as the Moon. It was breathtaking.
The perfect night to go on a walk through the woods, as I normally do at night anyway. I quickly walked downstairs and my mom was in the kitchen making dinner. She saw me come around the corner and smiled, " I hope you're hungry, I made Hamburger Helper, and mashed potatoes." I smiled and nodded my head, " I'm starving." I said with a smile on my face.
I helped my mom set the table, Gathering the plates and spoons and putting them in place. She set the rest of the table, not wanting me to burn myself with the hot plates. I quickly took my seat and got a big scoop of the Hamburger Helper, mom always knew it was one of my favorite foods and the mashed potatoes where pretty good to. My mom sat down and looked at me as I was about to take a bite of my food. I looked up at her and put my spoon back down onto my plate, and put my hands together and bowed my head has she started saying the prayer.
As soon as she got done saying the prayer I picked my spoon back up and started eating. Mom looked up to me and said," so how was school today honey?" I shrug my shoulders at her and said it was okay. Trying to let not let her know what happened at school. I didn't really like to make my mom worry, she already had enough stress on her shoulders. Dad had left us 3 years ago to be with another woman, it devastated mom. I Always try to avoid talking about Dad, but there was so many things I wanted to know. But then I always think that's something I should avoid like the plague. If there was something that she wanted me to know about dad she would tell me right? At least that's what I wanted to believe.
After dinner I quickly put on my jacket and shoes, getting ready to go on my nightly walk. Mom rushed to the door and held her hand on the door so that I could not open it. She looked down at me," I really wish you would stop going out at night into the woods all by yourself. You could get hurt, there's a lot of creatures out at night and you never know what you might run into." I smiled at her, " mom there's no need to worry. I have a flashlight, I have my phone, and I'm always careful. Plus I'm just going to the treehouse, and you know it's not that far into the woods." She let out a sigh and opened the door, giving me a kiss on the forehead as I turned to walk out the door." Please just be careful and don't stay out too late." I smiled and nodded my head and walked off the porch heading into the woods that surrounded the house.
As I started walking into the woods the Moonlight started to fade. The deeper I went, the darker it got. It finally got dark enough to where I had to use my flashlight, so I quickly grabbed it out of my bag. But before I could turn it on I quickly fell face-first into the ground. Getting up quickly I looked back to see what I tripped over, it was a stump that was sticking out of ground. I laughed it off and shook my head, clumsy me I'm always tripping over things.
It took me about 10 minutes before I reached my treehouse. I built it myself so it's not the best looking treehouse in the world, but it was mine and I worked very hard to build it. I turned off my flashlight and put it back into my bag so that I could climb the ladder to get up to the treehouse, but before I could even take my first step on the ladder I heard a rustle in the bushes a few feet away from where I was. I took my foot off the ladder and walked over to the where I heard the noise but did not see anything. I just Shrugged it off and thought to myself must be a rabbit or squirrel there are hundreds of animals in these Woods.
I climbed up into the treehouse and turned on the light. I had a lamp light that took batteries sitting next to a desk and chair, there was also a small bed that I had to have help putting in. Dad had put it in for me a few weeks before he left us. I cringed at the thought of my dad and I walked over to the window and sighed. There wasn't any glass on the windows letting the cool air flow into the treehouse.
I look down at the bushes where I heard the wrestling, and in shock I saw a shadow. It was a shape of a person. I quickly jump back and locked the door to the entrance of my treehouse, and then headed back to the window slowly creeping my head around the side to look out for the shadow. But as I looked out the shadow had disappeared. I jumped startled as I heard a knock on the entrance Door. Panic started to overwhelm me as I headed towards the door with a baseball bat that I had stowed away inside my tree house just in case I ever needed it.
" who's there?!" I hollered in a shaky voice. The baseball bat shaking heavily in my hands. There was a short silent before I heard an answer. " my name is Kiro, I got lost in the woods is there any way that you can help me? I promise I'm not here to hurt you." Should I believe him I thought to myself. I don't even know this guy, and he shows up out of nowhere in the middle of the night saying that he got lost in the woods. He could be a hunter that got lost, or he could be a serial killer for all I know.
I didn't know what to do, I didn't know if I should believe him. But I do know one thing, I couldn't just leave them out there alone in the dark. Still having the baseball bat in hand, I unlatched the door with the other. The door slowly started to open and as it did I held the baseball bat tightly with both hands, getting ready to strike if I had to. I could see his hand pushing the door completely open, and as the door fell to the side the hand retreated. It was as if he was hesitant to come in.
I could see his hair slowly start to ascend from the door, and slowly I could see his head peering into the treehouse. I couldn't hardly see him, he was in the shadowy part of the room. The rest of him finally made it into the tree house, and he shut the door behind him. I held the baseball bat firmly in my hand trying not to shake. He smirked," are you going to hit me with that after letting me in?" I stood my ground as he walked closer into the light. I froze. He was absolutely gorgeous. His hair was silver long enough to reach his shoulders, and his eyes where as blue as sapphires. He was about 6 feet tall, almost tall enough to hit his head on the ceiling. I myself only stood at 5/6 in hight.
He slowly made his way to me, and put his hand on my shoulder. He looked into my eyes, "I told you, I'm not going to hurt you. There's no need to worry." He said as he removed his hand for my shoulder. I look back into his eyes and slowly let out the air that I had building up in my lungs. I didn't realize that I was holding my breath, my lungs felt like they were on fire. I slowly lowered the baseball bat but I was still gripping tightly onto it. He slowly took the baseball bat out of my hands and placed it against the bed.
I watched him carefully as he walked over toward the window and leaned over it to put his head outside. Looking out the window he let out a sigh, " it's a shame you can't see the moon from here, it is a full moon tonight after all." All I could do was watch him, As the wind blew through his silvery hair. He then slowly turned around and look back at me, sending chills down my spine. I don't know what it was about him that made me feel so anxious.
A small smile crept crosses his face," so what are you doing out here all alone? A pretty girl like you should be at home in bed by now." I looked at him and smile, " well what about you? Why are you out here all by yourself?" He leaned his back against the wall," I asked you first" he said with a husky voice. I laughed at his remark and walked over beside him leaning my arms on the open window. Looking out the window I could feel the breeze on my face, it felt really nice and I could feel my heart beat slowing down.
He stood beside me looking at me waiting for a reply. Still looking out the window I said," well, I always come here at night. It's pretty much like my hiding-place." He leaned against the wall, " well I really wouldn't consider this hiding, after all I found it pretty easily." He said as a grin crossed his face. I looked at him and chuckled, " yeah well I guess it wasn't that hard to find after all huh." We both stood there and laughed.
I looked up at him," so now it's your turn to answer. Why are you here?" His Gaze fixated on me as I asked my question, his smile disappeared. He close his eyes for what seemed like minutes and then open them and turned to faced the other side of the tree house where the desk was. He let out a long sigh, " I came out to hunt. But I've had no luck so far, all the animals have seemed to gone to bed. I'm really hungry, I haven't eaten in 3 days." I looked at him in puzzlement. How in the world can anyone go without eating for three days I thought to myself.
He slowly look back at me, sending shivers down my spine. He reached over to place his hand on my cheek, slowly rubbing his thumb across my lips. " I know I promised I wouldn't hurt you, But I'm starving. But don't worry the pain will only last for a few seconds." A smile crept across his face, and for a fraction of a second the moons light shown down revealing two fangs creeping from his lips.
I couldn't find the breath to scream, and I couldn't find the ability to move. I was trapped inside of a small tree house with nowhere to go. The bolt on the small entrance door was locked and it was too high to jump from the window. I was frozen in place, fear resonating within me. He stood in front of me his eyes fixated on mine, he gently wrapped his arm around my waist pulling me in closer to him.
He tilted my head sideways slowly moving his head toward the side of my head, " don't worry, the pain is only brief." He said as he laid a kiss on my neck. He paused for what seemed like hours, but then I felt a sharp pain piercing through my skin. The pain was so intense I thought I was going to die, but then slowly started to fade. The pain was replaced with a tingling sensation, like my body was going numb.
I could feel hot liquid running down my shoulder into my shirt. I could feel my heart rate slowing, my body growing weaker and weaker. His grip on me tightened as if to hold me steady. A lot of things ran through my head, like why didn't I try to fight him. Why didn't I try to jump out the window, I didn't even reach for my baseball bat. There's just something about him, that I found mesmerizing. But that was no excuse now, if he kept drinking any more of my blood, he's going to kill me.
After what seemed like an eternity he finally released me as soon as my legs gave out. Still holding on to me he laid me on the bed and hovered over me. My vision was getting blurry, I barely could make out his face but I could see the blood running down his lips. He then leaned his head back over to my shoulder and my body instinctively jerked. He chuckled a little and then I could feel his tongue sliding up my neck where he had bitten me.
I felt him kiss my neck once again befor leaning back up to look at me. His face still blurry. " don't worry, I didn't drink enough of your blood to kill you. You should be fine by morning, and don't worry I will stay here with you all night so that you are not alone." I could feel my subconsciousness slipping away from me, and I slowly fell asleep.
