Chapter Five

Oh, my goodness.

I threw my hands over my face and groaned. I just agreed to a date with him.

I didn't even mean to. Great, just great!

"Yo, where did he go? I wanted to meet his cute *ss." I looked up to see Aaisha walk out the door with her hands in the air.

I shook my head at her and walked inside. She followed me in and asked me hundreds and hundreds of questions about him, all of which I answered with only a few words. I didn't want to go into detail about him or make her think I was serious about him. He had a mate and I was not going to get in the middle of that. It seemed like way too much drama for me.

I would go on a date with him tomorrow, but that would be all. If he was actually nice instead of who he was earlier this morning, I would consider being friends with him, but I was doubting I would like him very much.

After Aaisha asked me about my night, she told me about hers. Apparently, she spent it with the Alpha of one of the packs nearby. She said that they got down to business and that she was going to see him tonight.

I was so happy for her. She didn't get second dates that often because no guy could handle her amazing personality. She was right to the point, loud, and outwardly sexual. Hopefully this alpha guy wouldn't break her heart or I'd have to break him. Well, I would get Luca to do it. He was a lot stronger than I was, but I'd make sure to step on him with my shoe when Luca got him in a choke hold or something.

The rest of the day seemed to fly by, but my mind kept wondering back to Damon.

He was so handsome and just perfect, but he wasn't a good person. I couldn't like him, but I kept finding myself daydreaming about him. I finally pushed him out of my mind and helped Aaisha get ready for her date.

She was waiting at the window when he arrived. "Mae! Mae! He's here! He's here!"

"Dang, try not to seem so excited," I laughed. She answered the door before he even knocked and let him come in.

He was tall and built with sandy blonde hair. He had small, barely noticeable freckles on his cheeks.

"Mae, this is Richard. Richard, this is my girl Mae." I smiled at him and shook his hand.

"Well, got to go! Don't wait up for me tonight. You know what I'll be doing." Aaisha aggressively winked and nudged me. I said my goodbyes and was left to an empty apartment.

I crawled into bed and fell into a long sleep, thinking about him.

I woke with a start as I heard the front door clicked closed. I padded to the kitchen to meet Aaisha who barely looked like she was dressed. Her bra strap was hanging halfway down her shoulder and her skirt was hiked up, almost to where you could see her butt.

I smirked at her. She gave me a smirk back and walked to her room. She looked exhausted.

"Oh, hey Aaisha. Before you go to sleep, I wanted to ask you if you saw Luca. He didn't come home at all yesterday and I'm worried about him."

She shook her head and retreated into her room.

I know the day after Luca goes home with someone, he never feels good about it and he didn't come home at all yesterday, which was not a good sign. I decided to go find him, to make sure he was alright. He probably was at the gym where he could get all of his frustration out through hitting punching bags and dummies.

I opened the door to the gym to smell sweat. Inside was Luca. He was alone and furiously punching the bag. I walked over to him.

"Luca," I said, trying to get his attention. He kept pounding away on the bag. "Luca." I said a little louder.

"What?" He said between punches.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He ignored me and kept punching. I let him hit the bag more. Eventually he would tire himself out.

I waited there for three hours, just watching him punch the bag. Not once did he slip up or even look tired. "Luca," I said once more. He landed one big punch on the bag and turned to me.

"WHAT?" He growled. His eyes were pure black and my eyes went wide at the sight of him.

His eyes softened when they met mine and he threw his gloves on the ground. He fell to his knees and I ran over to him and knelt by his side. He was broken.

"Luca, Luca, it's okay." I pulled him into and hug. His body heaved up and down as small hiccups escaped from his mouth.

We sat like that for I don't know how long. He pulled away and I wiped his tears away with my thumbs.

"Mae, why doesn't she love me? Why doesn't my mate love me?" My heart broke at his words. Tears welled up in his eyes once more, but he refused to let them fall. He got up and walked to his gym bag, placing his gloves inside.

"I'm going to go for a run and then take a shower. I would ask you to come with me but you're a slow runner."

His eyes were stronger and a small smile even appeared on his lips. He was still broken, but he was okay for the time-being. I rolled my eyes at his comment and nodded my head.

I looked at my phone to see it was 7:15pm. There were 17 calls from Aaisha and 12 text messages from her.

My eyes went wide at the time. I was supposed to meet Damon at my house at 7!

Ugh. I gathered all my stuff and ran home.

I was breathing heavy as I made the final stretch and reached my apartment. Damon's car was outside, but he was nowhere to be found. I ran up the stairs and opened the door to the apartment to see Aaisha and Damon sitting at the table.

"Sorry!! I'm super sorry! I lost track of time. I was helping a friend through something. I'll be ready in like 2 minutes." I didn't wait for his reply as I ran to my room and changed my clothes into something other than sweatpants. I put a hairbrush through my hair and brushed my teeth.

I came out of the bathroom, just after the two minutes were up and they both stared at me.

From what it looked like, they got along well. I could just imagine what they talked about when I was gone.

"Let's get this over with," I said. Damon's eyes went dark. He stood up and we walked back down the stairs I had run up literally less than five minutes ago. We jumped in his car and he began to drive.

"So, what are we doing?"

"You'll see," he said with a smirk. We pulled up to a small warehouse and I glanced over at him.

He probably brought me here to kill me or something. He turned the car off and got out, racing over to my door to open it. When I got out, he shut the door and wrapped a hand around my waist.

I looked down at it and took it off. He replaced his hand, grabbing me tighter this time. "Kitten, please let me."

"No."

"I like feeling your touch."

"I don't care."

I sped up, walking closer to the warehouse door. If he is going to kill me, there is no point in waiting. Let's just get it over with.

He pushed me up against the outside of the warehouse walls and trapped me between it with his arms. He came close to me, like the night we met. His nose trailed up my neck.

"Kitten, don't act like you don't like my touch. I can smell your excitement." My face tingled as he took a deep breath in my neck.

He stopped as his muscles flexed underneath his shirt and he took another sniff, and another. He pulled his head back and looked down at me accusingly. His eyes were pure gold and my eyes went wide.

His jaw was clenched tight.

"Why do you smell like another wolf?!" He growled at me. I took a deep breath, scared that he was going to hurt me. "ANSWER ME!"

I tried to make myself small, as I wrapped myself up in my own arms.

"Who was it?! I will kill him." He was visibly shaking and I know his words held truth.

He would kill. I couldn't tell him that I was with Luca. I shook with fear.

"I wasn't with anybody!" I put my shaky hands on his chest. His eyes continued to glow a golden color. "I promise, Damon. It was nobody."

His muscles tightened once more under his shirt and his shaking continued.

Tears welled up in my eyes. I didn't know what was going to happen. I was so nervous. I wrapped my arms around myself and slid down the side of the wall and let a tear fall from my eye as I looked up at the beast.

I was staring up at my death, at my destruction.
