Chapter 16: Amelia Meets Leila

Dark Realm Castle
Xaldin

I was in my office pacing back and forth because I was trying to think of a plan about getting Amelia to come here and make her my mate. Diablo growled loudly and he said to me.

"Will you stop pacing?! your footsteps are giving me a headache!"

"Shut up! I'm trying to think about how we can get Amelia, I don't suppose you have any ideas?"

"Hmm...we could always try and steal her in the middle of the night. That's how it usually works in those...fairy tales I think the humans call it."

"That could work but, what if she's not in her home by the time we get there? what if she's spending the night with that Cursed King?!"

"Then force her! blackmail her! sneak into the mansion if you have to! use those ideas, you stupid human!"

I rolled my eyes and I thought to myself.

'Sometimes I wonder why I even bother with that stupid dragon spirit.'

"I heard that!!"

I chuckled when he shouted this. I opened my window and I pressed my thumb and index fingers in my mouth before whistling loudly. I heard a flapping from above and then my black eagle, Shadow, flew over to me and he lands on my arm.

"All right, Shadow. I need your help. I need you to find some information about Amelia. Find out what she does during the day and where she likes to go when she's not seeing that Cursed King etc, you get the idea. Think you can do that?"

"Yes, master, I'll get to it right away master!"

Shadow spoke before flapping his wings and taking off into the sky.

'I will get you soon, Amelia.'

Amelia

I felt a shiver run through my spine and then I looked over my shoulder. I looked around and I shrugged my shoulders and mumbled.

"Must have been my imagination."

I was currently sitting on a rock while I was sketching Aoi who was sitting on the ground. Aoi looked at me and I glared at him.

"Aoi! don't move!"

I scolded him before he went back into position. I looked back at my drawing and I started to shade in the colours and the shadows. Just then, a large shadow came over me and then I looked up and it was Dominic.

"Hey what are you working on?"

"Hi Dominic, I'm working on a sketch of Aoi, what do you think?"

Dominic looked at the drawing and he was impressed.

"Wow, I'm impressed, but, why do you keep calling him Aoi? you do realise his real name is Koichi right?"

"I do but, I like calling him Aoi, he seems to like it."

I said as Aoi purred in response.

"I see, do you think you can draw one of the dragons?"

"I've tried to but, so far no success and besides, the last time when I tried to draw a dragon it was Aqua and she does not like staying still for so long."

"Don't worry, you'll get it."

Just then, my stomach started grumbling. I blushed a little and I said to him.

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"*Chuckle* don't worry, I was going to ask you if you wanted a sandwich for lunch."

"I would like that thanks."

"I'll be right back," Dominic told me before kissing my cheek.

I giggled a little when he did this. Since our little trip to Mermaid's cove, he's become more affectionate and cuddly with me. He really is a great man and I only wished my Grandfather would approve of him.

I got back to work on the sketch of Aoi and I added the final touches.

"Okay, you can move now."

Aoi stood up from the ground and he shook himself and stretch to loosen up the muscles since he had been standing still for so long. Aoi climbed onto my shoulder and I asked him.

"What do you think?"

Aoi looked at the drawing and he wagged his tails happily before licking my cheek. I giggled a little before someone spoke up.

"Cute creatures, the twin-tailed foxes aren't they?"

"Yes, they are," I told him.

My eyes widen in shock and then I stood up and turned around to see who spoke and it was Xaldin. Aoi hissed and growled at Xaldin and I said to him.

"Xaldin! what are you doing here?"

"Relax, little lady. I'm not here to cause trouble. I only wanted to see you."

"Well, you've seen me now go away!"

"Now, now, there's no need to be so hostile. I won't hurt you."

Xaldin told me as he approached me before Aoi leapt off my shoulder and started hissing and growling at him. Xaldin chuckled and he said to me.

"Oh my, that's some protective fox you've got there."

"Well, he is Dominic's fox and he knows I'm his mate and he also knows how to keep men like you away from me."

Xaldin chuckled and then looked at my sketchbook that was lying on the ground after I had dropped it when Xaldin surprised me. He picks it up and he starts looking through it.

"Impressive, you're quite an artist aren't you?"

"Well...yeah, I'm an art student."

Xaldin smirked when I told him this. He approached me with my sketchbook in his hand and he said to me.

"Aren't you a smart woman, I can see why Dominic fell for someone who is not only beautiful but also smart and brave."

Xaldin complimented me before handing over my sketchbook back. Aoi hissed and growled at Xaldin as I cautiously took the sketchbook from him.

"Um...thank you."

"You're welcome and also, please accept this."

Xaldin told me as he gave me a red rose.

"Not to be rude or anything but how do I know you're not trying to trick me?"

"I would never trick you, here."

Xaldin took my hand he turned it over so he could place the rose in the palm of my hand.

"Until we meet again, Amelia," Xaldin spoke with a smirk.

"Wait, hold on, I never told you-" I stopped mid-sentence when he suddenly vanished. "My name..."

I looked around for Xaldin and he was nowhere to be seen. Aoi jumped off my shoulder and he started looking around while his fur stood on end and growling angrily.

"Well that was weird, I wonder why he is so interested in me?"

I asked myself as I looked at the rose in my hand.

The next day, after my encounter with Xaldin. My curiosity about him got deeper and I didn't want to ask Dominic about it since I already know a little bit about him but, I wanted to know is why he decided to capture dragons and where he came from too. I got to New Orion Library to look for some more information.

I got to the history section and I ran my finger over the spine of the books about Whitebrook's history and who their Kings were before Dominic was born. Just then, I felt something move in my backpack.

"What in the...?"

I looked around to make sure no one was looking and then I knelt onto the floor to unzip my bag. The moment I opened my bag, a furry head popped out. I gasped when I saw Aoi and then I frowned and whispered at him.

"Aoi, what are you doing here and when did you get in my bag?"

Aoi purred at me before he climbed out of my bag. Aoi wagged his tails and then he made a run for it. I sped walked after him and then he went into the restricted section which I have noticed is already opened which was weird. I find this odd because when I first came to the library, Mary, the librarian and the owner of this place, told me that the books in there were once from Whitebrook castle's library and a few of them were also from other libraries from other castles too. The only ones who were allowed in there were the staff and the owner herself.

I looked around to make sure no one was looking and then I carefully and quietly opened the doors. I looked around and it was a bit dark.

"Aoi? Aoi, where are you?" I whispered before entering the room.

Once I stepped into the restricted section, the doors behind me closed on their own. I gasped and then I ran over to the doors to open them again but, when I touched the handle, sparks appeared making me pull back my hand. I was surprised by this and then I heard a purring sound. I got my phone and I turned on my flashlight.

"Aoi?" I called out and then he came running back to me.

"There you are, what did you get me into this time and why am I here?" I asked as I petted his head.

Aoi purred in response before grabbing the sleeve of my shirt and he started tugging on it. It looks like he wants me to follow him. I stood up properly from the ground and then I followed Aoi. After a while, the room started to light up and there was purple light floating about. I turned off my phone's flashlight and then Aoi ran ahead of me.

"Hey! wait up!" I called out to him before chasing after Aoi.

Aoi ran over to a history section and then I came to a halt. I noticed some of the books have titles that talk about each of the castles' history, the journals of the soldiers and many more. I was a bit confused why they would keep them locked up here in the restricted section of the library and why the librarians and scholars didn't want anyone learning about this stuff.

"Curious little girl aren't you?"

I gasped in fright and then I turned around to find a woman with black hair, amber eyes, pale skin and she wore a black high low gothic dress with black leggings and black caf boots. She also wore lacy gloves and a lacey collar with a purple stone. She was sitting on a leather chair while reading a book and petting Aoi's fur.

"I-I am sorry, I didn't mean to-"

"Calm yourself, I won't tell a soul," She spoke calmly before closing the book she was reading.

"And besides, your little friend brought you here, didn't he?"

The black-haired woman told me as she petted the top of Aoi's head and for some reason, he seemed calm around her.

"Uh, yes, how did you know?"

"Twin tailed foxes are known to be loyal to their master but, there was once a myth about these little guys. They say the marks on their foreheads are able to predict their master's future and when this happens they tend to glow sometimes. When this happens, they place their paws onto their master's body and then they show them the images of the future."

"Really? I didn't know that."

"Of course you don't because most of the information about the 'mythical' creatures is lost. Those who knew about the history of Whitebrook and other information remains a secret whether it's been stored here or it remains in the family."

I was surprised that she knew this and I asked her.

"Who are you and how do you know all this?"

"It's because I was there when all these events happened."

"You were?" I asked in a surprised tone.

I watched the woman stand up from the couch with Aoi sitting on her shoulder.

"Yes, I was. My name is Leila and I am the sorceress who placed that spell on the King who killed my friends all those years ago."
