Chapter 24: Xaldin & Amelia

Luxas
Amelia

Xaldin held my hand as he led me to his home or rather the realm that he created. We got to an old building and then he opened a secret tunnel.

“Where are we going?”

“This is a secret door to the place where I’m taking you.”

“Just like Krotolas?”

“Yes, but a little different. Come on.”

I giggled when he led me by the hand and leading me into the realm. We walked through some bushes and Xaldin was kind enough to move some of the bushes out of the way for me. Once we got through the bushes, Xaldin held both of my hands and then he said to me.

“We’re almost there, watch your step.”

Xaldin lifted me in his arms when we came across a puddle. I giggled when he did this and then he puts me down on the ground.

“Here we are.”

My eyes widen in amazement when I saw the realm. It was beautiful. There was a starry night sky with a full moon. A castle, which kinda looked creepy but amazing too look at, was dark and looked almost ancient. There was a large forest and as we headed to the castle, we spotted some animals which I assume are probably more magical creatures.

“This place is amazing!”

“I’m glad you like it.”

“What kind of magical creatures do you have here?”

“Well including a few dragons, we have a few nocturnal creatures or should I say some creatures of the night. Such as Vampires, werewolves and ghouls.”

I gulped when he said this which made him chuckle.

“Relax, there’s nothing to worry about. They’re harmless unless they see you as a threat.”

“Promise?”

“I promise and of course, we do have some friendlier creatures.”

“Really? like what?”

“I’ll show you.”

Xaldin took my hand and then he led me through the woods. After a while, I spotted a light blue glow in the distance before Xaldin ducked.

“Xaldin, what are you- ah!”

Xaldin suddenly pulled me under the bushes and then he pressed his finger on his lips to hush me.

“You’ve got to be very quiet. These guys don’t take too kindly to strangers unless they’re not offended.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’ll show you, but, you’ve got to keep your beck zipped.”

I nodded my head and then we crawled through the bushes until we came across a lake and I saw the most amazing thing. My first thought they were pegasuses but, they were glowing brightly almost like they were angels in animal form.

“They’re beautiful, are they pegasuses?”

“Sort of but these guys are rarest. In Russia, they’re known as Svetyashchiysya pages (Glowing Pegasus).

I was impressed when he told me this.

"They're amazing...can we get close?"

"We can but, you got to be careful. These guys are easily offended if you don't show respect."

"How do I do that?"

"Just bow to them that way they won't see you as a threat and then they'll come to you and check you out afterwards, they'll start nuzzling you as their way of showing you affection."

"Okay, no pressure."

Xaldin and I carefully left the bushes and then one of the glowing pegasuses spotted us. Xaldin stopped me and then he whispered.

"Slowing approach and bow to him."

I nodded my head before I slowly approached the glowing pegasus and then I bowed to him. I glanced at the creature and it stomped it's hoof a few times and snorted at me.

"Amelia, back off slowly."

I backed away from him until I stepped onto a twig. I flinched a little and I stayed still while still bowing to him.

The glowing pegasus slowly walked over to me and then I felt it's muzzle on my face before he started to rub it against me. I shocked a first but, I started to giggle afterwards.

"Well, after checking me out, you're not so bad, aren't you boy?" I told him as I petted his face.

"He certainly likes you," Xaldin commented.

"It's a shame other people don't see them like this."

"Why not?"

"Why do you think? every time someone comes near these guys, they end up attacking them but, they are misunderstood creatures."

"Is it because of the way they look and how some people interact with them?"

"Exactly but, with the right approach they're not so bad."

"I see, but, out of curiosity, do they let some people ride them after they checked to make sure we're not a threat?"

Right when I said this, the glowing pegasus snorted and then he got into a bowing position by placing one knee on the ground while other is stretched out.

"I believe you have your answer."

Xaldin told me before I carefully approached him and then I got onto the glowing Pegasus' back before he stood up properly.

"Hang on tight, Amelia. These guys can fly faster than their cousins, the white pegasus."

I held onto the creature's mane before he took off running and flapping his wings. We took off into the sky and Xaldin wasn't kidding when he said these guys can fly fast. I had to hold onto the creature's mane for dear life as we flew through the night sky.

I giggled when we flew above the forest and when we flew past the castle. I was enjoying the view so much that I didn't realise that Xaldin had gotten the back of another glowing Pegasus and he was flying next to us.

"Enjoying the view so far?"

"Xaldin! this is amazing! I have never seen a realm this beautiful before!"

"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself because there's one more place that I want to show you. Hang on."

I shouted in shock when the glowing pegasus dived downwards. I held onto the creature's mane for dear life when we flew above the lake and then a heard of water horses leapt out of the water and they were neighing at us as they leapt out of the water.

"Wow! are they Kelpies?"

"You've got good eyes, yes they are kelpies."

"Is it true they drown little kids to their deaths after letting them ride on their backs?"

"Sometimes but, since they were moved here, they've become friendly to humans now and whenever they let them ride on their backs they let them up for air."

"And you would know from experience?"

"Yep and it was the best experience of my life."

Xaldin spoke with a smile on his face. For some unknown reason, Xaldin looked cute the way he smiled like a little kid.

'What the heck is wrong with me? where did these weird feelings come from? why am I not afraid of him after everyone's warnings about him? ...I wonder if the words 'Devil Dragon' is just some stupid title and he's also a misunderstood being as well.'

I asked myself as I glanced at Xaldin's smiling face.

After flying through the sky and above the lake, the glowing pegasus' took us to the castle and they landed on the balcony.

"Is this where you live?" I asked Xaldin as he got off of the creature's back.

"Of course, I figured we can have dinner together and maybe you can rest for a while."

"I would like that, thank you."

I spoke with a smile as Xaldin helped me off the creature's back.

"Thanks for the ride guys, see ya."

I told them as they flew away from the balcony before neighing at us. Once they were gone, Xaldin took my hand and then we went into the castle.

I was impressed when I saw the decorations. The castle looked a bit dark and creepy, it looked like something out of a Dracula movie. I had to hold onto Xaldin's arm for dear life as we walked through the hallway.

"Don't be scared my dear, nothing is going to jump out and scare you."

"Sorry, I'm not used to creepy places like this."

"Don't worry, I'll make sure to brighten the place up a little. I've been sitting alone in the dark for so long."

"Why? don't you have someone special like a Queen before you became a Dragon-shifter?"

Xaldin smiled at me and he stroked my cheek after we stopped in our tracks.

"I did once but, she fell in love with someone else."

"Oh, I'm sorry I said that now."

"Don't give me that sad look, where's that smiling face I like so much."

I gave Xaldin my smile and he smiled back.

"That's more like it, now then, shall we have dinner?"

I nodded my head and then we got to a dining room where a candlelight dinner was waiting for us. Xaldin walked to the head of the table and then he pulled out my chair.

"Thank you."

I told him before I sat down and then he sat down at the head of the table.

"I have to ask, someone once told me that you were supposed to be dead, how did you survive?"

"A witch saved me and when she did I went into hiding for a while and then I asked that same witch to make this realm for me and the other magical creatures."

"Wow, for someone who is supposed to be known as the Devil...you're not so bad."

"Do you think so?" he asked me with a charming smile making me blush.

"Maybe..."

"King Xaldin, Lady Amelia, dinner is served."

A servent spoke as a few more of them came into the room and then they served dinner but, it turns out to be a buffet.

"Yikes, I can't eat all of this."

"My bad, I couldn't decide what you liked so I thought we have a buffet instead."

"Okay, fair enough."

I spoke with a smile before tucking into the food.
