Chapter 29: Preparing For The Queen's Ceremony
I was in my room with the maids and they were helping me pick out a dress for the ceremony. From what I've been told, when a Dragon Lord who may or may not always be a King, have to go through some kind of ceremony to welcome their mate in the horde. Xaldin was able to hire a few maids to help me find the perfect dress and trying out some hairstyles.
"How about this one, Miss Amelia?" Angelica, one of the maids, asked me as she held up a red dress.
"Hmm...it's nice but, red doesn't really suit me."
"Oh, I guess you're right," She told before putting it back on the rack.
"Angelica, don't you know any better? this is to mark the occasion. We're not having our future Queen wearing any dark coloured dresses. How about this one? it matches with your golden hair," Lucy, another one of my maids, told me as she held up another dress.
I looked at the dress and it was in a pastel yellow colour.
"I like it, let's try it on."
I told them as I tried on the dress. I looked in the mirror and it was perfect. The top showed off my shoulder blades and the sleeves were short and they covered my shoulders. The skirt reached to my ankles. I smiled at my reflection and then the girls smiled at me.
"Oh Miss Amelia, you look beautiful!"
"Add some accessories and fix up your hair and you'll look dazzling!"
I smiled at my reflection and then Lucy spoke up.
"Anyway, we've picked out some necklaces for you."
"Actually, I can wear the bracelets and earnings but, not the necklaces. I wanna wear this instead."
I said as I held the locket in my hand.
"But Miss Amelia-"
"Please, don't say it. This is the only thing I have left of my parents. My grandparents made me promise to never take it off."
Lucy and Angelica saw my point and then Angelica spoke up.
"Oh, of course, you can wear it. We're sorry."
"It's fine," I spoke with a smile.
'No! it's not fine! I'm freaking out on the inside here! what am I gonna do?! I have no control over myself!'
I shouted in my head before there was a knock on the door.
"How's it going in here?" Xaldin asked before Angelica covered his eyes.
"My Lord! please cover your eyes! Miss Amelia is trying on her dress for the ceremony!"
"So? it's not like it's our wedding day," Xaldin told her as he tried to look but, Angelica kept his eyes covered.
"Yeah but, I want it to be a surprise for you," I told him as I Lucy quickly helped me out of the dress.
"Can you do me a favour and don't look at it? please?"
I asked him as I got changed back in my casual clothes. I'm wearing a blue tartan shirt with a white vest top underneath it, dark blue denim jeans and combat boots.
"Ugh, fine. I won't look."
Xaldin told me after covering up the dress and uncovering his eyes. Xaldin looked at me and he held me in his arms.
"I can't wait to make you mine."
My body moved on its own as I wrapped my arms around Xaldin's neck.
"You're that happy to have me by your side?"
"Of course, I've been alone for so long and I've always wanted a Queen at my side. Even though the woman I had my eyes on was taken by that cursed King, I can still have you."
Xaldin leaned close and he was about to kiss me until I placed my hand on his mouth.
"Oy! not in front of the maids."
Xaldin glanced at Lucy and Angelica and they giggling quietly.
"What are you two staring at?! get out of here!"
Xaldin shouted at them before they left the room. I giggled afterwards and then I looked at Xaldin.
"You really need to work on your temper."
"I'm not that bad as long as you're around."
Xaldin picks me up in his arms and spins me around. I laughed when he did this and then he said to me.
"You're amazing and beautiful. I love you, my soon-to-be-Queen."
"I love you too."
I spoke with a smile even though I don't mean those words. Xaldin smiled back before he kisses me on the lips. On the outside, I was in love with Xaldin but inside of my mind, I was freaking out. I had no control over my body and I hoped Dominic and the others rescue me and find out what was going on with me.
I was in the living room pacing back and forth because I was worried about Amelia. I can still sense her love for me through the bond even though I haven't claimed her yet. Scorch was starting to get uneasy, he can tell our mate is in trouble.
"Dominic! stop pacing! you're making me dizzy," Axel shouted at me.
"I can't help it. Scorch and I are worried about our mate. I can sense our mate is in distress."
"Even though she drank, whatever the potion that Xaldin gave her?"
I told him as I continued to pace. Suddenly, black smoke appeared and then Leila emerged.
"Well? did you make the potion? is Amelia okay?" I bombed her with questions.
"Whoa! whoa! calm down! let me speak."
Leila told me and then I shut my mouth.
"Firstly, the potion is nearly complete, I just need one more thing."
"Hold still, I think you've got something stuck in your hair.
Before I could get whatever was in my hair, Leila reached up and then I felt her pulling out a strand on my hair.
"There we go, I just needed some of your DNA and a strand of your hair will do the trick."
"You could have warned me!" I shouted at her before Leila puts the hair into the bottle.
Leila shook the bottle a little before she mumbled an incantation. The bottle glowed and then it turned a light blue colour.
"There we go, the antidote is complete."
"Will it work?"
"It will but, we better get a move on and fast. Because from what I've heard from the other dragons, they told me Xaldin will be holding a ceremony to welcome Amelia as not only as Xaldin's Queen but, as his mate as well. Once he does that, Amelia will belong to him forever."
I growled angrily and then Scorch shouted.
"That's it!! I'm going to find that Devil and send him back to hell where he belongs!!"
"You know what? that's the best news I've heard all day from you."
I looked at the others and told them.
"Axel! Midnight! gather the other dragons we're going to crash that ceremony. Leila, do you know when it's supposed to be happening?"
"From what I've been told, it'll be happening tomorrow."
"Then we'll be sure to crash it before he can claim her. Leila, you think you can give that elixir to Amelia before the ceremony?"
"Of course and I know where the entrance to the dark realm is but, we're also going to need backup and I know just the people to help us."
"Who?" I asked as Leila smirked.
"You'll need to wait and see until then, wait at the entrance so my friends can place the invisibility spell on you."
I nodded my head and I thought to myself.
'Hang in there a little longer Amelia, we're coming to rescue you.'
I felt a shiver go through my spine for some reason and then Xaldin looked at me and asked me.
"What's the matter? are you cold?"
"Maybe, it's probably nothing."
I told as I went back to eating my dinner. Xaldin smiled at me and then he placed his hand on my thigh. I stiffed when he did this and then he said to me.
"Once you become my Queen, you don't have to keep secrets from me. So if there's anything bothering you, you promise to tell me?"
"Of course," I spoke with a smile as I held his hand.
Xaldin smiled before kissing the back of my hand.
"Good, because there's something I want to tell you."
"What is it?"
"Actually, it's better if I showed you."
I looked at him confused before he got a small box from his pocket. I was surprised at first and then I asked him.
I opened the box and there is a ring with a red gem in the centre. My eyes widen and then I mumbled.
"I'm glad you like it, because I did plan to give this to you once you became my mate but, now's a good time."
"What do you mean?"
I watched Xaldin smiled at me before he knelt down on one knee. My eyes widen in shock and he said to me.
"Amelia, my beautiful mate, once you become mine, I want you to become my Queen. After the ceremony, I want to marry you. So, will you become my wife?"
I was smiling on the outside but, I was furious on the inside no matter how much I tried to show my anger, I can't let it out. My body moved on its own and I held Xaldin's hand and I said to him.
Xaldin smiled and then we kissed. We heard some of the servants and guards cheer and clap for us. We pulled away and then Xaldin took my left hand before sliding it onto my left ring finger. I smiled at it and then Xaldin said to me.
"A perfect fit."
"Thank you, Xaldin. This ring is lovely."
"Good, now allow me to escort you back to your room."
I squeaked when he picked me up like a Princess. I laughed afterwards as Xaldin carried me back to my room.
