Chapter 41: The Night After

Krotolas
Amelia

The next day, I woke up with a headache or should I say, a hangover. I blinked a few times and then I turned onto my side until I felt someone hug me. I smiled before I looked up and I found Dominic's sleeping face near mine. I thought last night was a dream but, when I looked at my left ring finger, there was the engagement ring.

I smiled at it before I rested my head on my mate's chest. I felt Dominic nuzzling his head against mine before pulling me closer to his chest.

"...Hmm...morning Amelia..." Dominic spoke in a tired tone.

"Hehe...more like afternoon," I told him before glancing out of the window to see the afternoon sky.

"*Chuckle* I guess that's true...did you enjoy yourself last night?"

"I sure did. I still can't believe you proposed to me. I thought it was all a dream."

"But, it's not. It's the real deal."

Dominic told me before holding my hand and he looked at the ring he gave me. Dominic kissed the back of my hand and then he with his other hand, he rubbed my upper arm and he said to me.

"*Sighs* I don't wanna get up, I just want to have a lazy afternoon with you."

"Me too."

I told him before I leaned closer to him and we were about to kiss until I placed my fingers on his lips to stop him.

"But, I'm hungry so, I'm getting up."

"No, stay here~" Dominic whined before he clung onto me like a Koala.

I laughed at his behaviour before I struggled to get out of his grip.

"Dominic, get off me."

"No," He pouted.

I shook my head at him before I said to him.

"Eek! Grandfather! what are you doing here?!"

Dominic released me and then he looked in the direction of the door before I shot out of bed and I got away from him.

"Hey! you tricked me!"

"Hehe, scaredly cat."

I told him before I fixed my night gown and putting on a house robe. Dominic frowned at me as I left the room and then he followed after me once he out on his house robe. We got down stairs where we saw my Grandmother was cooking something for us to eat while Sarah was resting her head on the island counter and Ryan was resting his head on Leon's shoulder.

"Afternoon guys."

I told them before sitting next to Sarah. I chuckled at her appearance and I said to her.

"Look at the head on you. Had too much to drink last night?"

"Look who's talking you were as bad as yourself."

"Hehe, I know."

I spoke with a smirk before looking at Ryan and Leon.

"I guess there's no need to ask what you two were up too last night."

"Wait what?" Ryan looked at me surprised before I told him.

"Ryan, I may have been drunk but, I wasn't blind to notice you and Leon were locking lips last night."

Leon looked at me with a surprised look and then Ryan asked me.

"How did you know that I was-"

"Let's just say I had my suspicions about you but, I didn't want to say anything in case I offended you."

Ryan chuckled and then he asked me.

"So you have no problem with me being gay?"

"Not at all. To be honest, I was a bit surprised but, as long as you're happy."

Ryan chuckled and nodded his head before he nuzzled his head on Leon's shoulder. Leon chuckled and I told him.

"Oh and Leon, be sure to take good care of our goofball or else I won't be responsible for my actions," I told him before cracking my knuckles.

"She means it," Dominic told him.

"Don't worry, I'll be sure to look after my mate."

Leon told us before he wrapped his arm around Ryan's shoulder.

"Aww, you two make a cute couple," Sarah spoke with a smile on her face before groaning in pain and clutching her head.

I chuckled at her reaction and then Grandmother came over to us with some food.

"Here you go, I've made some fried eggs, bacon, sausages and baked bean with some toast."

"Breakfast for lunch or dinner?" I asked her.

"It's the perfect hangover cure for you young ones and here's some painkillers for the headaches."

"Thanks Grandmother."

I told her with a smile before we tucked into our food. I looked at Grandmother and asked her.

"Where's Grandfather?"

"He's still sleeping it off, too much whiskey last night."

"No surprise there," Dominic chuckled before I playfully elbowed him.

"Speaking of couples, what happened to Jason?" Ryan asked him as he took a sip of his coffee.

"He's still sleeping it off as well."

"I still can't believe you two are moving in together after you've enrolled into University," I told her as I took a bite of my toast.

"Me neither but, it's happening. Which reminds me, are you two moving here or someone where in Orion City? you and Dominic are gonna need a place of your own."

"I guess that's true. We haven't thought about it yet, we just got engaged," I told Sarah.

"She's right, the planning and preparations will come later. For now, just enjoy being happy after getting proposed," Grandmother told me with a smile.

"Thanks Grandmother."

I told her with a smile before Dominic wrapped his arm around my shoulders and kissing my cheek. I giggled a little and then Ryan spoke up.

"Ew, some of us are trying to eat here."

"Look who's talking," I spoke with a smirk.

Leon chuckled before he did the same to Ryan. After we got food in our bellies, Dominic and I got back to his room and we got changed and cleaned up.

"You know, Sarah's right. We need to think about where we're gonna live after the wedding."

"Why can't you just move in here?" Dominic asked me as he sat down on the bed while I brushed my hair to get rid of the knots and tots out of my hair.

"As much as I love it here but, you seem to have forgotten I grew up around humans and I need some normality in my life. Besides, this place can be our second home, can't it?"

"I suppose you're right, but still, where would we live?"

"I don't know, but, if I see a few places we'll check them out together, kay?"

"Sounds good to me," Dominic told me before he took the hair brush from me and brushing my hair.

I smiled when he did this before tying my hair back into a plait for me. Once he was finished we left the room. We walked through the woods for a while until we got to a clearing until Dominic turned into his dragon form.

"Do you want to take me somewhere?" I asked him with a smile on my face.

Scorch nodded his head before he lowered himself a little so I could climb onto his back. Scorch opened his wings and then he took off into the sky. I held onto his spikes and we flew through the sky. I smiled as I enjoyed the view and then Scorch flew towards the cliffs where we got a good view of Krotolas.

Scorch landed on the ground and then I got off his back. Scorch hummed happily before I looked at the sun setting sky. I stood next to Scorch and then he nudged his head a little. I stumbled a little and I said to him.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

Scorched hummed happily before he nudged me again.

"Hehe, stop it, Scorch."

"Stop what?" He asked me through the mind link.

I think Scorch was trying to play with me and then I decided to play his little game.

"Ah! Scorch! enemy alert!"

Scorched turned his head and then I made a run for it.

"Amelia! get back here!"

I heard Scorch shouting in my head as I ran from him. I hid in the forest from him and then I saw his figure through the bushes. I held back my giggles before I felt something wrap around my waist.

I gasped and when I looked down it was a tail and no need to ask who it belonged to. I was lifted from the ground and then I was placed back down onto the ground in front of Scorch.

"Gotcha."

I giggled a little before Scorch licks my face and nuzzling his face against my body. I chuckled a little before Scorch wrapped his tail around me to make sure that I was comfortable and warm. Scorch laid down on the ground before I stroked his head.

"I love you..." Scorch spoke happily through the mind link.

"I love you, too."

I spoke with a smile before kissing his snout and we stayed like this for a while.
