Chapter 44: Wedding Day (Part 1)
After all the planning and preparations and having our stag and hen nights, today is my wedding day. I felt excited and nervous at the same time. I did my best not to let my nerves get the better of me as Kassandra and the other girls got ready.
“I can’t believe my baby girl is getting married,” Grandmother spoke happily as she made a few adjustments to my bouquet.
“I can’t believe it either, Grandmother,” I told her as I sat at my dressing table while Leila and Kassandra worked on my hair and make-up.
“Are you feeling nervous?” Kassandra asked me as she applied some eye shadow on my eyelids.
“A little bit, Kassandra, is this how you felt when you got married to Drago?”
“I was. I was nervous and excited just like you. I was excited because I was marrying the man I love and I was nervous about the event as well while hoping that nothing goes wrong.”
“Oh god...please don’t say that,” I whined as Leila curled my hair.
“Hehe, don’t worry, you’ll be fine. Your grandfather and I were like that too and it ended very well,” Grandmother told me.
“Have you heard anything from Ryan or Jason about Dominic?” I asked Sarah.
“Last I checked he’s just as nervous and excited as you are. I also got work from Leon that the castle is looking great and the guests will be arriving soon. Plus, our transport will be here soon,” Sarah told me.”
“Well, that’s good to hear.”
I spoke with a smile on my face. After a while, my hair and make was finally down. Leila had styled my hair into waterfall braid with a flower decoration. I smiled at my look and I thanked both Kassandra and Leila.
“Don’t thank us yet, Amelia, you still need to get changed.”
I nodded my head in agreement before I looked at my wedding dress. I stood up from my seat before I walked over to the mannequin before Sarah and my Grandmother took the dress off the mannequin. I took off my house robe before putting on my lacey white underwear and then I put on my dress.
Grandmother carefully zipped up the back and then she along with Leila and Sarah straighten it out a little bit before Grandmother puts on my locket and veil for me. Grandmother and the others took a few steps back from me and they smiled at me.
“Oh Amelia, you look beautiful,” Grandmother spoke with a smile.
“Do I?” I asked in a surprised tone.
“You do, look.”
Kassandra told me as I stood in front of the mirror. I couldn’t believe the woman I saw in the mirror was me. I remembered looking at some of my parents’ wedding photos and I think I look like my mother’s double.
“I can’t believe it’s really me...” I mumbled and then Grandmother started sniffling.
“I can’t believe my only granddaughter is getting married...”
“Oh Grandmother, don’t start. You’re gonna set me off in a minute and I don’t want to ruin my make up and besides, my mascara isn’t waterproof.”
Grandmother chuckled when I told her this before we heard knocking on the door.
“Who is it?” Leila asked as she helped Sarah into her bridesmaid dress.
“It’s me,” Grandfather spoke before he came into the room.
When his eyes landed me, he looked shocked at first before he spoke up.
“Amelia...? is that you?”
“It’s me, Grandfather.”
“Oh look at you, you look just like your mother when she was getting married.”
“I have to agree,” Grandmother spoke with a smile as she fixed her hair.
“How are the guys?”
“They’re happy and excited for you but, Dominic is a bit nervous right now but, thankfully, Leon and Ryan were able to calm him down. They’re already heading to the ceremony right now, which by the way, is gonna be starting soon.”
“We’ll be ready in a minute, just be patient,” Kassandra told him as she fixed Leila’s hair.
“All right but, hurry up before Dominic does a runner.”
“Don’t say that!!” I scolded him before Grandmother glared at him.
After a while, my Grandmother, Sarah, Leila and Kassandra are finally ready. The bridesmaid dresses that I picked were a royal blue and it has an open back along with a sweetheart neckline. Grandmother was wearing a mint blue dress that reached the floor and the sleeves were short. She also wore a matching jacket while her hair was tied back in a messy bun.
“Finally, you’re just in time the carriage is here.”
Grandfather told us before we headed outside. Sarah gave me my bouquet which has lilies and roses and then we got outside. I smiled when I saw the carriage.
The carriage that we hired is a white horse-drawn carriage and we picked two white horses and there were some flowers on it for decoration and the seats were black. I smiled at it and then Grandfather opened the door for us and he said to me.
“Thank you, Grandfather.”
I took his hand and then he helped me onto the carriage and then Sarah, Leila and Kassandra joined in.
“We’ll meet you guys up there,” Grandfather told us before he and Grandmother took a cab.
“Okay, let’s get going.”
Kassandra spoke happily before the carriage started moving.
I was at the altar which was in the gardens. I was pacing back and forth while Ryan stood there watching me and then he spoke up.
“Dominic! will you stop pacing?! you’re making me dizzy.”
“I can’t help it, besides, it helps me calm my nerves.”
I told Ryan and then Midnight stood up and he stopped me.
“Dominic! stop it! she’ll be here.”
“Guys! I’ve got news from Sarah! she’s on her way!” Jason called out.
I sighed in relief and then I went back into position near the altar. I fixed myself up before I calmed myself down. We waited for a few moments before the music started playing. The music that Amelia and I chose for her entry was ‘All of Me’ by John Legend.
The doors opened and then we watched Leila and Kassandra, the bridesmaids, walked the pathway first and then the flower girl, who is Sarah’s cousin came in and scattered the red flower petals onto the ground. Finally, Amelia came through the doors with her arm wrapped around her Grandfather’s arm while Sarah and Sophia followed behind them. I couldn’t take my eyes off of Amelia when I saw her, she looked gorgeous.
“Wow...” I whispered as I stared at Amelia.
She smiled at me when she saw me and then Johnny passed her onto me. Amelia and I held hands and we faced each other.
“Amelia, you look beautiful, no, you’re gorgeous.”
“Thank you, you look handsome yourself.
We smiled at each other before the vicar spoke up.
“Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join Dominic and Amelia in matrimony commended to be honorable among all; and therefore is not to be entered into lightly but reverently, passionately, lovingly and solemnly. Into this, these two persons present now come to be joined. If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together - let them speak now or forever hold their peace.”
There was a moment of silence and then the vicar continued.
“Friends, we have joined here today to share with Dominic and Amelia an important moment in their lives. Their time together, they have seen their love and understanding of each other grow and blossom and now they have decided to live out the rest of their lives as one...”
The priest continued on with a prayer and the definition of a wedding before we went onto the vows.
“I Dominic, take you Amelia to be my wife, my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.”
I spoke happily before Amelia repeated the same sentence.
“I Amelia, take you Dominic to be my husband, my partner in life and my one true love.
“And now, we onto the rings.”
Amelia gave her bouquet to Sarah while Ryan searched for the rings.
“Uh oh...” He mumbled.
I sighed in annoyingly and I grumbled.
“I should have known better.”
“Just kidding!” Ryan joked as he held out the rings.
I took the rings from him and then I smacked him upside his lumpy head.
I told him while the others chuckled and snickered. Amelia shook her head and then we held hands again.
“I Dominic give you Amelia this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you," I told her as I slipped the gold ring onto her left ring finger.
Amelia held my left hand and she repeated the sentence while saying the same thing.
"I Amelia give you Dominic this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you."
The vicar smiled at us and then he spoke up.
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You now kiss the bride."
Amelia and I smiled at each other before we kissed. The guests clapped and cheered for us. I smirked against Amelia's lips before I dipped her making the guys 'whoo' at us. We pulled away and then Amelia giggled a little before we stood up properly. We held hands as we walked down the pathway while some of the guests threw flower petals in the air.
