Chapter 15

Sam P.O.V

It’s been three days after Cole had gotten the stitches out, he’s completely healed, but I still get the constant reminders of how close I was to losing him.

The nightmares, they haunt me every time I fall asleep or even when I close my eyes. I haven’t told anyone that they keep coming back because I don’t want to be a burden, and to worry them.

We resumed going back to school and filling Zaya in on everything. We’ve all kept to ourselves the pack and Zaya, there’s only a few more weeks of school, and we will be officially finished.

“So, what are you planning to do after school’s finished?” I asked Zaya curiously, as we walked through the crowded hallways of school, along with Cole, Xavier and Ryan.

“Well I don’t want to leave here, so I guess I’ll just work at my mum’s restaurant.” Zaya said, giving me a cheerful smile.

“What about you four?” Zaya questioned.

“Well there’s no way I’m leaving, being Alpha I can’t run off to university in another town or city.” Cole said lowering his voice and looking at me expectantly.

“Yeah, well I’m not leaving. The pack’s here.” I stated, my voice down to a whisper.

“Neither are we, for the same reasons.” Ryan and Xavier said.

“Plus your mate’s here.” Zaya laughed and nudged me.

“Oh don’t remind me.” I said jokingly, shaking my head and rolling my eyes. Ryan, Xavier and Zaya snickered and Cole came to a complete stop.

“What’s that suppose to mean?” He asked.

“I’m joking.” I said as I started to laugh, Cole let out a deep breath and relaxed his shoulders as he walked after us.

“Hey don’t you two laugh, you’s still haven’t even found your mates.” Cole said pointing an accusing finger at Ryan and Xavier, their laughs died down immediately.

“When you two find your mates, I pity you.” Cole said, I gasped and started to frown. “I was only joking Mi reina.” Cole stated quickly, and my frown immediately disappeared, replaced by a small smile.

“Where is my mate?” Xavier stated dramatically with a sad sigh, looking between Cole and I.

“What, so you can fight with her like these two do?” Asked Ryan.

“Yeah, well that’s only because they’re both Alpha’s.” Xavier stated the obvious. “But look at them.” Xavier said, gesturing to Cole and I.

“What?” We asked simultaneously.

“What am I looking at, apart from two Alpha mates?” Asked Ryan, narrowing his eyes in a curious manner towards us.

“Well Cole can’t even handle two seconds of seeing a small frown on Sam. And Sam lost it when......” Xavier trailed off. “Never mind.” Xavier said.

Everyone fell back into silence as we walked the hallway.

The final bell had rung, and I took my back pack and quickly shoved everything inside it. I hurried out the door, and met with Zaya, Cole, Ryan and Xavier.

“Hey, why do you never teach a wolf to meditate?” Cole suddenly asked, we all shrugged our shoulders.

“Because then it would be aware wolf.” He said, while I burst out laughing.

“That is horrible.” I said trying to stop laughing.

“Then why are you laughing?” Cole grinned.

“Because it was that bad.” I said.

“What do you call a lost wolf?” Cole asked.

“A where wolf.” I said.

“How’d you know?” Cole, Xavier and Ryan asked.

I was walking backwards, pointing an acusing finger at Cole. “You really need to work on your jokes.” I laughed, I went to turn back around when I crashed into someone.

“Oh my goodness, I’m so sor—“ I was cut short when I seen who it was.

“Sam.” Brent stated giving me a nod.

“Brent.” I spat, immediately I felt Cole stand protectively behind me glaring daggers at Brent. Xavier, Ryan and Zaya by my sides.

“Nice to see you.” Brent smiled.

“Pity I can’t say the same about you.” I said venom lacing my voice.

“How are you Sam?” Brent asked, looking unaffected by my statement.

“Come on, we have stuff to do.” I said, ignoring Brent I walked towards the doors.

“Sam I thought we were friends.” Brent called, I could hear the smile in his voice, I halted.

Leah was growling, and I could see the veins on my wrists become darker. I took in a deep breath while clenching and unclenching my fists.

“I would never be friends with someone like you.” I growled.

“Stay away.” I heard Cole growl out to Brent.

I waited for them to catch up with me and we exited the doors, out into the fresh air.

As we stepped outside, I only just realised how worked up Cole was, he started to pace near the car. There was hardly no one left at school, luckily.

“God, he makes my blood boil.” Cole screamed, as he kicked the closest trash can that went flying across the grass spilling the contents along the way.

He started to tug at his dark hair. “Cole.” I warned.

‘If he keeps this up, he’ll shift right here.’ Leah said.

‘I know.’ I sighed.

Zaya was watching from the side with wide eyes, and Xavier and Ryan were telling him to calm down.

“Cole.” I said again, more demanding.

He continued to pace and tug at his hair, the veins on his neck getting darker and darker by the second.

I quickly grabbed Cole’s face with both hands, forcing him to look at me. His eyes were now glowing red, his breathing was ragged and heavy.

But as soon as his eyes met mine they softened. He closed his eyes and drew one wavering breath in. When he opened his eyes five seconds later they were back to grey, and his darkened veins slowly went back to normal.

“It’s fine, everything’s fine.” I said.

“That’s why I want a mate.” I heard Xavier whisper.

“Damn you, you just ruined it.” Zaya whispered back while slapping Xavier on the back of the head.
