Chapter 3

After my run, I was feeling calm and collected. Granted I locked myself in my room for the rest of the evening. I have even effectively avoided both Alpha Ben and Alpha Alex for a whole week after that little incident. The only thing that isn’t good about it all is that rumors are spreading that Tessa is now Alpha Alex’s girlfriend. Which I shouldn’t care, hell I don’t, but she hasn’t even tried to find her mate.

He is probably out there searching high and low to find her and she is here. Spreading her legs for the world. Okay, maybe not the world but she has slept with half the pack now, including both the Beta’s sons, Parker and Wayne. I can’t wait till I find my mate. Hopefully he is in another pack so I can get out of this one and away from Tessa. She blames me for our parent’s deaths which is really stupid considering that her mother is the one that killed mine. But whatever. I have no desire to argue with her.

It is currently Monday morning around 4 in the morning. I like to get up to make all the patrol wolves sandwiches for the day and I also make something for Alpha Ben, and now- Alpha Alex. Half way through, I hear someone approaching. Looking up, Julian entered, looking tired. “What’s up, buttercup?” I keep my voice soothing. Since we were young Julian has always had nightmares, he would ask me to sing to him to calm him down.

Julian meets my eyes with a knowing half smile. “Another nightmare.” He replied. I hummed before giving him a sweet smile before starting to sing softly. “Wise men say, only fools rush in.” He sat in the stool by the bar, propping his head on his fist and watched me finish the sandwiches while I continued singing. “But I can’t help, falling in love with you. Oh, shall I stay, would it be a sin. Ooh if I can’t help, falling in love with you.”

Finishing the lunches, I walked over to Julian, grabbing his hand and dragging him to the piano in the next room. Sitting down with him beside me. I started to play softly.

“Like a river flows, surely to the sea,

Darling so it goes, some things are meant to be.

Take my hand, take my whole life too,

Oh for I can’t help, falling in love with you.

Oh like a river flows, surely to the sea,

Darling so it goes, some things are meant to be.

Oh take my hand, take my whole life too.

For I can’t help, falling in love with you.

Ohh for I can’t help falling in love with you.”

Finishing I smiled over at Julian who had a soft smile. He seemed more relax. We both loved that song ever since Raf and Sam told me that my parents dedicated that song to each other. Julian wrapped an arm around my shoulder. “Eve, that was beautiful.” Even though Julian has heard me sing it a thousand time, he always compliments me. Resting my head on his shoulder, I was about to thank him when someone else spoke from the doorway. “I agree, that was amazing.” Looking over, Alpha Alex was standing there.

Blushing slightly, no one really has heard me sing. I’m not shy about it, but I just always sing for myself and Julian. “Thank you both. I should get back and start breakfast.” Standing I started back to the kitchen. Putting all the lunches to one counter, with little tags for who’s is who’s. Picky wolves. I was joined with both Julian and Alex. “You make the lunches and breakfast?” Alex questioned. Nodding my head, “Yes but I have the other women help with breakfast.” He seemed interested in what I did.

Thankfully before Alex could question anything else, Julian pipped up. “Are you training with us today?” Also nodding my head at his question. Alex eyed him curiously. “Why would a cook be training with you?” Julian sputtered on his drink that he was sipping on while I turned to give the Alpha a disapproving stare. “Just because I’m cooking to help out the other women, does not mean I am limited to it. I train, I work out, I even patrol the boarder from time to time. So, before you presume that I’m just a cook, why don’t you do some research on your pack, Alpha.”

With that being said, I stormed out of the kitchen, making my way to my room. How dare he just assume? I wouldn’t have minded if he didn’t have that skeptical look on his face as if I can’t train. I’ll show that cocky Alpha what I’m capable of. Throwing a pair of shorts on with a sports bra and a tank, I tie my sneakers on. Surely training is about to start. I felt a little bad about not helping the women in the kitchen, but I’m almost positive they would understand. Heading back down, thankfully not seeing thatass hat of an Alpha, I went in to apologize for not helping. Of course, Mertle being the woman she was, hushed me and told me I didn’t ever have to help but they loved that I wanted to. So, I piled a plate of bacon and eggs and waffles and quickly ate it, eager to get to the training field and kick some ass.

Walking out I notice Alpha Ben and waved slightly before averting my eyes. We haven’t talked since that dinner and honestly, I’m not looking forward to it. Running up to Raf and Julian, I greeted them. “Hello, boys. Ready to get your asses kicked?” Raf threw his head back and laughed heartily. “Julian that sounds like a challenge. But fortunately for you, Alpha Ben and Alpha Alex are joining us and wants to do a sort of match up tournament.” Furrowing my brows in surprise, I nod. “Sounds like fun. Julian, you want to be my sparring partner?” He gave me a ’really?” look before he got into stance. We were warming up together before Alpha Ben called everyone to attention.

I kept my fingers crossed that I would get a good partner. I don’t want them to pair me up with the weakest girl here, but a part of me knows that they will. Looking over, I notice Tabitha, she was a very small, frail girl that has been training for a few years but she never takes it seriously. Something about her parents forcing her to train. Sure, she knows a few moves, but nothing more than anyone else knows.

In that moment, I knew for a fact, that these morons would start me out with her, but I could just be positive that I will work my way up to go against one of our best fighters. I’m not tooting my own horn, but I’ve been doing really well, training really hard and even uncle Raf is surprised at my skill. So, when they called Tabitha and my name to fight, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.

Let’s get this over with.
